Okok, so I'm sure other girlies have the same problem... Moreso if you dress kinda weird. But every once in a while... Someone asks to take my picture, and it's always some dude. Now, it's not always certain that they're some weirdo, so I'd like to be polite... But HOW can I say "I'm not cosplaying, doof. Don't take my picture." nicely...? Because quite frankly, it's sort of weird.
Just smile and say 'no, sorry' in a kind fashion.
Wouldn't stop me though =P
had some guy think i was cosplaying as L one time. dude, a white shirt and light blue pants doenst make someone L. step away. good way to tell them they cant take your picture, say you're in the WPP and cant let evidence of where you are leak out.
Pretty much exactly how you said it, minus the name-calling. "I'm not cosplaying, sorry", and walk away. If they persist after you've told them that much, let them know that you're clearly annoyed by it. If for some reason they still don't leave you alone, that's probably considered harassment enough to report them to ConOps.
Last year I dyed my hair BRIGHT pink. Even in my street clothes a lot of people wanted to take pictures of my hair, one person even asked very nicely if they could touch it. Some of the most fun I had at Fanime last year was people responding to my hair.
If you don't want your picture taken, just say no. I usually wave my hand in a stop motion too, tends to help get thru to people if there's words and action saying not to do it.

Well, for example, I was just at Sakuracon in Seattle. I was standing around and some guy who looks like he's a dwarf from LotR walks up and asks for a picture. "Uhh, sorry. I'm not cosplaying." He just laughs and goes "Yeah but you're hot, so it's ok!" And takes my picture. I guess there's nothing to stop that sort of behavior unless I wanted to make a huge deal out of it, but still. It's uncomfortable. Generally that hasn't happened at fanime, but I'd still like to prevent it nicely. =/
If anything, people will understand if you just say "sorry, I don't want my picture taken." It's happened to/by me a few times, and it's totally understandable. (:
After all, they can't really badger you after you say no...
Uh... they know you're not cosplaying, they want your picture because you're a girl... and they're pathetic.
tell them you believe cameras and other imaging systems are means by which people can steal your soul, and that you'd be happy to allow them to take your picture after you've taken their expensive camera to an undisclosed location to perform a plethora of rituals on it without their supervision, some of which may include using the camera as a toilet.
or just say, no, dude; I'm not cosplaying. don't take my picture, please.
its sorta both of a weird, and a compliment and yes theyre creepy doods who want to oogle at really cute girls.
hell, i used to do it and im glad i dont anymore. :P so on my behalf im sorry... but hey i mean well... but i cant speak for all them fanboy weirdos...
but seriously, just be kind and tell them no pictures of any kind please and keep moving
you'll blur their pictures if you keep in motion and they can get you into focus... well... unless they have a high speed lens on your their camera :P
It just seems like anything out of the everyday "norms" at is deemed interesting so you of course your going to attract attention to yourself. The only thing you can do is to just say no if you don't want it done. Although you can't stop the drive by photographers.

Like the person who made this post lololol...
Anyways. It's an anime con, there's pathetic people. The same kind of people that will randomly ask you for hugs. The kind that wear "glomp me" shirts and signs?
The kind of people posting in this thread... yay.
I would NEVER wear a GLOMP ME sign. I'm only 5 ft tall!!! If any tries to take your picture, like every one says, KEEP WALKING. Or if you have a hood or a cool hat. Wear it. If this keeps happening tell the security. If they ask for a glomp or try to glomp you, go to a safe place (ie bathroom) and tell someone immediatly.

Wait huh?
You can't tell security because someone is asking to take your picture. Just like you can't tell security if someone takes your picture without permission, as much as you may not like it, they have every right to do so. You have to be young... you sound like you're repeating something parents tell their kids about strangers.
Realistically, you can't do crap. Just leave and continue on wherever you were going. ONLY IF HE CONTINUES TO FOLLOW YOU, can you do something. And really, that something isn't much, security would just tell him to stop following you. If it gets worse, then you can do something if he's totally stalking you. Chances are, that won't happen... the person will more than likely just ask some other girl, because frankly, you're not special and he doesn't care who it is.

anything < 18 duh.
its harassment regardless...
again, tell them no and keep moving.
in other words DONT give them a good opportunity to have them take a picture of you period.
again Pyron is right, if u truly feel as if your being stalked or the same dude with a camera seems to be in the corner of your eye or you feel the creed shudder from that sweaty fat guy behind that pillar... seriously call us [staff / Rovers ] and we'll take care of you.
boys or girls again we want to promote a fun and mostly safe [withing reasonable means] Con.
Enjoy and game on your fandom.

... That was a statment concerning you, not a statment concerning legal age regarding the capabilities of taking action...
Which just strengthens my comment of...
"You have to be young" to not understand the context of what was written. And in Jerry's place, he's just stupid.
I meant how young do you think I am?
Dude, stalking is intense. Of course you need to get more help if you're being harassed, but I simply meant "How I can I tell creepy dudes to step off without being a big biznatch?"
Just tell them "If I don't know you and/or feel comfortable why are you pressuring me." "My wishes are my wishes, no pictures."
Speaking of cosplay, I'm going as Misa to go see a movie! (Hannah Montana :P I hate her) Why I'm going, don't ask.
some people like taking pictures even if you aren't cosplaying a certain character. people that just dress up like their pictures taken. Don't get offensive. Just let people know your are just their for fun not for pictures and things.
But anyone who dresses up will more than likey get their picture taken.

That reminds me about one time when I was at Sac Con. Some girls asked this guy (he had a White shirt and jeans ) they were all like " L can I have a hug?" HE WASN'T EVEN COSPLAYING!

if i hadnt cut my hair, i'd dye it black and do a faiL cosplay this year.
And yet my friend was shocked that I did not recognize him as L when he Cosplayed as him...
But L is pretty easy to Coseplay.

Here, I'll give you a clue...
I don't "target" anyone. I reply according to what I see. If I reply a lot to you, it means I'm seeing a lot from you. If I'm replying to you and pointing out what you say is stupid, or showing how you're ignorant...
...
You're being stupid a lot... and being ignorant(but acting as if you aren't) a lot.
That clue you in better?
and lock.....
