Title: Fanime vs Supercon
Post by: BumbleB on May 01, 2009, 02:57:38 PM
Why is Supercon week before Fanime? Wouldn't that be kind of chaotic? Which is better/fun/worthwhile? Which should I attend this year?

Wow... I've never heard of Supercon... It must be fairly new?

But... because I'm biased, I'd say Fanime is more fun/worthwhile...
It kinda depends- if you really like comics, go to Supercon, if you like Anime n all that good stuff, go to Fanime (which is among the biggest comic/anime conventions in CA)

I've been to a few comic conventions, didn't like them as much as Fanime. o:

Still weird how Supercon has some really well known VA talent for it being a comic convention.

Yeah I know! But I already saw them at Sac Anime.

This is almost like trying to compare Fanine vs. Baycon

*shudders* ...Baycon (https://forums.fanime.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.drumcorpsplanet.com%2Fforums%2Fstyle_emoticons%2Fdefault%2Ftic.gif&hash=0c3fa5153d7d927ba5c1ea1994f15652fb62908d)

My friend (TC_TROOPER) is working with a vendor at Fanime. Only reason I have for going =P
Other then that, it is a comic convention, in which case I have not read comics in a good while. Would not mind, but still. Though it is not devoid of Anime. The Bub voice actors of Edward, Mustang, and Lust from Fullmetal will be there, as well as the voice actor of Hellsing. Fullmetal was one of the series that actually had some good DUBS. They also have something called 'Anime Pavilion'. I'm didnt read much though.
If your not into comics then SuperCon would probably not be worth it. But if you are, I assume it can be fun. Still, I expect FanimeCon to be better in general to do the multiple factors it has over SC. But it's only 15 bucks to go for the day, so you can easily go if your up for it.

Fanime + Baycon = Attention whoring? Bay con has no point to it because it's practically next to Fanime and on the same weekend.

SuperCon and Sac Anime are in cahoots, apparently they are running the "Anime Pavilion" section of the con. Kinda ironic.. but eh.

I've noticed that...for the e-mail address that I get all my Sac-Anime e-mails from I've been getting a lot of e-mails for SuperCon.

It was so much easier when SuperCon and Fanime were on the same weekend, at the same convention center.  :P

First I've heard about SuperCon was while waiting for a FanimeCon marquee outside of the convention center (is there one?).
I might go, cuz I work downtown on the weekend, but still can't wait for the 'main event' the next week. Funny how there are the FanimeCon banners around downtown and right outside the South Hall

What I want to know is how they can get people like Crispin Freeman, Laura Bailey, and Vic Mignogna.
But we can't...

Yeah I know! All the small cons get the well known VAs

I doubt that Fanime cant get these voice actors that are at every convention. Instead, I think Fanime tries to get voice actors who are a little less known on purpose.

That is opening up a can of worms there.. :P

My biggest concern about Super Con is their bootleg policy. If it is anything like Sac Con/Anime, there will
be a lot of kids buying crap merchandise. Hopefully people do not associate them with us, since they are a
weekend apart.

Yeah, that sucks. >:( Laura and Travis will be in Boston for Anime Boston, and Vic will be in Toronto for Anime North. Maybe Crispin could stick around for Fanime. Let's pray for that to happen.

OMG, That would be amazing.
That would make up for my less spending money If I could see him.
Some one should get on asking that. Where are the people incharge of that kinda thing? It's such an open oppurtunity!

SuperCon!? What is this SuperCon (don't answer that. I looked it up already)!? Aren't they focused more around all comics in general?
