Anyone interested in a "When They Cry" gathering? I didn't see one in 2009, so I decided to start one. "When They Cry" includes Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni, Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni Kai, and Umineko No Naku Koro Ni. Anyone? Don't be shy, I know I saw a few cosplayers. ^^ ~nipah~

Fanime will be taking group pictures during the Gathering/Event this year. If you do not want to be included in those pictures please step aside for those photos. By remaining with the group when the pictures are being taken you give your consent to be photographed.

What do you guys think we should do as activities and pictures? I have some listed at the bottom

Wow nobody then, I guess I'll lock this topic and maybe bring it up later.

You only ran this for a day, and then locked it? The forums are active all year long, and what if someone saw this and couldn't post.... give it time. I would like to also suggest that you set it up as though it was going to be a gathering instead of maybe/maybe not. Take your first post and list the following:

Then let it run for a while and check back and see if there are any posts (look for the "email notification" under additional options and when someone does post you will be notified) I would also suggest posting in my gatherings thread list for 2010 the gathering and URL if you are serious about wanting to do this gathering...

Be patient... there are 11 months till next Fanime and some of us are already working on 2010 so you never know who will pop on here and be like "WOW! Someone is running a gathering where I can wear my cool new cosplay!" and then they post here ^^)

Thank you so much B ^^! This is my first time organizing a gathering so I didn't really know what to say :-\.

Started watching the anime and I found it rather disturbing. The more I watch the more I'm drawn to it. I suppose I'll join the gathering too as Keiichi. Just as long as the gathering is not on a Sunday.

Ok added! I'm wasn't planning on having it on Sunday, probably Friday or Monday.

DEFINITELY going as someone from umineko. Right now the two biggest possibilities in my mind are Lambdadelta and Bernkastel. I'll have to get back to you when i decide. I Would do Beatrice if her dress wasn't so...ALL OVER THE PLACE. Also, Umineko anime aired today. :'D

I'm contemplating doing Keiichi, and if I decide to go through with it, that leaves the question of whether to cosplay as tanktop Keiichi or school uniform Keiichi.

Anyways, I would give you a definite answer on who I will come to the gathering as, but i'm still not sure.

Also, my friend is still unsure about her outfit choice. (you know her, Mi Feng. So you understand. XD) But I doubt it will be Bernkastel... just a feeling. She also told me she is working on a George costume. Dunno if she'll wear it, though. -shrugs-

Actually one of my friends introduced me to Umineko -pokes Sammy-kins- I enjoyed it and noticed a lot of similarities with the plot and characters of Higurashi.

Kanon seems a bit easy, but Maria looks like TONS of fun! (But I'm not short enough xD) If I'm the only one doing Kanon I could take pictures with the Renas. ;o
I'm still not sure since I want costumes to finish for Sac-Anime that's coming up soon.

I know, I really wish there were a gathering in 09 fanime.  I cosplayed hanyuu, and saw abunch of other higurashi kids too.  if there is a gathering, then I MIGHT be able to join you guys for it.  if you don't mind that it's 09's costume. 
and don't get to discouraged by the amount of people you are getting at the moment.  It's quite a long time till fanime, so not many people are thinking about it.

We can always make the Umineko and Higurashi photoshoots at different days and times. Whatever works out for the cosplayers. Maybe I'll post a poll later for everyone to decide which day would work for them.

Oh wow. Friday and Monday are awesome days for me, What ever works. Even Sunday would work. Ahh I'm so excited already.

For Umineko (the Tsurupettan one), all the Marias can look down to their chests with a questioned look on their faces and a Battler can have an "idea" face on.

yup. me and one of my friends from an umineko LJ comm will be holding it (assuming it gets approved).
at this point i believe we plan to focus on the games for the most part. we'll probably give a quick plot refresher and fill in important details that the anime left out or didn't portray well. i want to talk about different theories for the most part. if there's time we'll probably look at some fan videos and stuff too.

Well, it depends. Do you want it to be a comedy or something serious?

If its comedy, I suggest doing something that would (obviously) make fun of the series. FOR EXAMPLE! Say Beato does her long, LONG monologue about why Battler should believe that witches exist (making it all dramatic and stuff) then Battler goes, "I don't give a f-ck, Beato. I will never and I repeat NEVER believe in witches...!! *walks away; comes back and OBJECTION POINTS!* NEVERR..!!!"

Don't take this in a bad way but I just thought I'd mention it.
If everything is chaos from the drama outside. :/ And by drama I mean protesters. XP And I know how irresistible it is to taunt them, please just don't. Its not fun to waste your energy on that kind of negative stuff. We'll be inside too so they won't bother us.

ninja is a reeeaaally fun game. it's really easy to play, but hard to explain over the internet.
basicly, people stand in a circle,  one person says "focus your chi," and yells "NINJA!" people move one by one, trying to hit the other person's hand. once someone is hit, he's out, the last one left is the winner.  it usually gets really intense at the end, when there is only two people left.
one of my friend is going as satoshi, so maybe we can damenstrate first?  haha, satoshi and Hanyuu face off, that doesn't sound right.

Hello. Sorry this is late.

Me and my friend (Yukikari) will be going as Hanyuu and Rika from Higurashi Daybreak. .....which is basically Hanyuu and Rika in their school uniforms and their weapons (Onigari-no-Ryuou sword and ritual tool shrines scythe).

If i have time before the code geass gathering, i'll be there as Keiichi in his shorts and vest outfit. if not, i will at least be there taking pictures.

I thought it was a wonderful gathering. :) Although it we had a bumpy start, it turned out great, you all looked AMAZING! ;D
To make it a little faster and have equal picture times for both groups, I was thinking next year the Umineko and Higurashi will be separate gatherings and if some Umineko cosplays come to the Higurashi gathering we could incorporate them into a picture. ^^

I'd like to thank soy sauce (Battler) for helping me so much. Saturday was so hectic for me, I was losing my voice and he really held the gathering together.

Next year, there will be a megaphone! XD

I (idiotically) didn't check the forums before coming to SJCC, and the gatherings list at the con didn't list this one.
