Title: Simon-Gurren Lagann cosplay help
Post by: God91125 on November 03, 2009, 11:04:44 AM
So I'm working on all my cosplay stuff early and I wanted to know if anyone knew about Simon's boots/shoes(Young Simon) So how could I go about making those or finding some? any tips are helpful, I also have no idea what type of boots/shoes they are so yeah xD Here's some good pics of what I mean. The red stripe is easy to do but the shoes themselves are yeah >_<

I'm not very good at boots, but if for myself, I would probably try getting some ugg-type boots (wal-mart or target or store like those may have the knock-offs in their shoe section, much cheaper than buying the real ugg boots), try to fold down the ankle part, use some shoe polish on it (test the polish on an inconspicuous section first) to change the shade (I've only seen them at wal-mart in a light brown), then apply the red stripe (either duct tape or cut some red fabric with fabric glue like fabric tek [sic])

If you can't fold down the ankle part, if the shoes aren't too expensive (I think I saw them for $12 at wal-mart a month ago), buy a second pair and cut the ankle section.  glue or somehow attach that upper section to the other boot.

Or find a thrift store or good will or salvation army shop that may be selling old boots, and fold down the top.

If you have a lot of duct tape, you might try this:

but not as high, of course.   :D

In reference to money I would say boot covers could not only save you money, but would take up much less room when packing your costume. You can make them out of synthetic swade material with a close color match. They appear to be dark brown in the first picture.
