Im a first attendee this upcoming Fanime 2010 I was wondering how to sign up for Karaoke?

Contest signups will start in late April/early May. We will announce all info here on these forums.
Due to the explosion last year in contestants to sign up for the karaoke contest, we may go to all online sign-ups this time around- but that decision is not final yet. We'll announce more info in March.

??? im a first time attendee too i was curious.. is this the only time karaoke will be at fanime? i want to do karaoke but i might not want to compete..
this isn't the first time that karaoke is gonna be here. this is for the karaoke competition. but there is a time called open mic and u can sign up for a spot and sing anything u want from their albums. just make sure to sign up FARRRRRR in advance. u can sign up and not sing for another 2-3 hours. so just be ahead =p

Do we have to bring our own ipod Dock???
Or just the ipod??
im not sure about the ipod...
but last year i just bought a cd
i suppose they would have an ipod dock since a lot of ppl have ipods ya kno?

I know how to download songs, but not how to put it on a CD D:

if u have itunes, put the songs u want on a playlist
and put in a blank cd
at the bottom right of the screen u would see a "burn disc" lil thingy
click that
and make it an audio cd
voila! =]
We don't use ipod docks- we would use the stereo plug instead.
For the contest, we request CDs only, or from our database. For open mic singing, mp3 players are okay.

but.. do all songs you sing for the Karaoke contest HAVE to be INSTRUMENTAL??
The reason I want to know is because I'm having a difficult time searching for my chosen songs on instrumental ^^""
I found 1 so far... :D
it doesn't HAVE to be instrumental
but if it's not instrumental, they'll tone down the music so they can hear ur voice
they have this thing to kind of mute the vocals on the song so they can hear your voice
but TRY and find the instrumental if u can
if u cant, no biggy =]
also, check their karaoke website
they might have some of the songs that ur lookin for

How may judges are there?
And please remind me on how you're singing will be judged.

the rules should be posted this week, thats wat i heard
last year, they had 3 judges
so i dont think it'll be any different
but the rules will be posted this week sometime so just keep checking back

I've read that the sign-ups are hecticly crazy.. and that out of 35 total spots for this year's Fanime Karaoke Contest, 25 were made available for online pre-registration about 3 weeks before the convention.

i did it last year, it was nuts
sign ups will be on may 2nd
the exact time of day has yet to be determined
but yea it was crazy

Just to clarify, those numbers are from last year. This year, there are 40 spots, and all are available for online signups.

That's what happened last year. The winner sang "Shell" from Witch Hunter Robin. It was really good! I think you can find videos on youtube.
