Title: Rain in forecast
Post by: otakuya on May 21, 2010, 01:28:19 PM
According to NBC Bay Area's 7-day forecast, there is a chance of showers throughout next weekend.

What are your plans for dealing with rain? I'm just gonna stay inside the convention center as much as I can

I sure hope it doesn't rain, or at least during the gatherings. That would kind of not be fun. Although, I know that a little rain wont stop some cosplayers from doing photoshoots outside.

For myself, I will be spending most of my times indoor anyway.

Just make sure to pack an umbrella!

I don't think I've ever been at a Fanime when it's been raining. :o
I think I'd be nice. But that's cause I'm not cosplaying this year. It must suck for anyone cosplaying. So I hope it'll just be nice and overcast.

I think I'd park extra far away and only pack one umbrella, so me and my bf have to walk a long ways really close. ;3

From a Rover's Stand point I REALLY REALLY REALLY dont want rain  :-[

Cosplay gatherings are one thing [no one wants rain on their parade literally]

but im gonna go nuts hearing the squeaky floors from all the wet shoes on the convention center floors from the first floor, and all the tracked in rain into the Concourse, among other areas.

not including everyone else who not in the Marriott or Hilton, whos from from other hotels and massive lines waiting outside for say Music Fest, Masquerade and B&W Ball, i dont think rain would be ideal...

so here's to hoping it wont. >_<

then we'll see how dedicated those cosplayers, and dedicated Music fans will weather the storm.

i have learned to not to fret over early forcasts, it could very easily change.

and it could change last minute: the night before the cherry blossom festival 2007 it was dumping rain and i took clear shower curtains and made booties and slickers for our costumes (so you could see them under the plastic) for the cosplay contest because i had worked on it all year and was not going to let rain stop me....next day...bright and sunny, hardly a cloud in sky .__. hours and $10 wasted lol.

Hopefully it will change and be sunny. But even so the forcasts suggest that we will only see a few showers on Saturday, barring day 0 or course. There is a chance that Downtown would not even be effected at all.
Still it could be a hell on my Danboard Cosplay =/

I'm really relieved I decided to hold my gathering inside this year. But all the outdoor gatherings...
Please don't let it rain!!! Cool weather would be nice but no rain!
But ,hey it might drive off the protesters.

Well apparently there will still be some showers on Friday, though showers are nothing serious. Still I hope Staff will put up some kind of cover where the Music Fest lines will form, if possible.

Now watch as the weather shifts again and we get a storm for the entire con =P

Has anyone else noticed the closer we get the more the forecast improves? (knock on wood!!)

Yaaay! I could still stand for it being a bit warmer though. I LIKE it in the 80s. I get to bust out my shorts. Summer attire ftw.

If at all possible I would prefer we have days like today for the weekend, minus the wind.

Oh gosh, it's going to be a huge mess if it rains. :( If it does, that probably means all the gatherings are going to have to change locations if they are outside. Yikes!

Plus, I'm playing two characters that are wearing pointe shoes - shoes that are certainly not waterproof!

I hope it doesn't rain on Sunday.... My gathering (picnic) would fail :/

A little bit of sprinklage would be okay. I've only been to the con once before when it's rained, and at least when I saw it doing so, it was really light and over with quickly.  I hadn't even thought about the rovers' point of view... I'd hate to think about people in fancy costumes getting wet shoes and feet and slipping on the floor downstairs! That could be disastrous.

Most of my costumes will be ok in the rain. But some, like my Maria dress, won't be able to withstand it. >.<
I'm really relieved I made my gathering inside this year (thanks ikaka-chan for the suggestion!) But where will all the outdoor gatherings go?

At Sac Anime this year it rained on Friday and sprinkled in the mornings. The grass was so muddy and I had white shoes on. D: Not fun.

Seems like rain will only be a possibility on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday look marvelous. Not sure about Monday yet. But yeah my only problem is Thursday trying to carry possible wings for Monday on public transit/in rain.

Last update I heard to the weather just a couple hours ago: Sprinkles and cold on Thursday, Friday it'll be cool but dry, Saturday-Sunday it'll be completely dry and up to the mid to high 70s.  No word on Monday yet.

Eh, a little warmer than I'd like but I suppose sunny > rain. A little more clouds and it'd be perfect.
