Sounds like it would be fun/interesting/a good story, but here's the thing: same time as the concert Friday night? I don't know about that.

*** to be approved by fellow staff members of the Speed dating department ***

just trying to help out those few who might be shy and have no idea what their getting themselves into  :P
random advice-

remember you only have 3 minutes [per the rules that ive seen]
This actually passes by pretty quickly -
so if you DONT just wanna stare at each other and dont say anything:

The girls sometimes use these conversation topics at the FaniMaid Cafe!

conversation topics:
talk about the Con [this should be a given] like why your there-
going to buy stuff at Dealers, Artist Alley or Swap meet?
favorite anime or manga?
favorite foods?
know japanese?
Cosplay? how did you make or buy your costume?
Going to specific events? B&W Ball? Masquerade? Cosplay meet ups? MusicFest?
favorite activities other than anime or video games?
whats your favorite subject in school?
other topics of interest- sense of humor, talking about internets, reading, sci-fi, music, collectables etc.
favorite joke or anime momment?

this is the easiest way to share info!

Remember PLEASE do not give out too much personal info about your self!
to be safe, try to use an Alias, such as screen name nick name or something along those lines.
DONT give out personal info such as phone numbers, websites, or e-mails--- this is done by the staff once the speed dating process is complete!

Good luck single ladies and gents!  :D

lol i'm just going to do it for the fact that it's "speed dating". Even though i probably get with anyone i'm totally fine with that because I've always wanted to try it since I saw the movie 40 year old virgin + i get to make more random friends which is always a plus at fanime!

If you were approved to be apart of Speed Dating, you should have/be receiving an e-mail with tips from our Speed Dating staff who are working hard to get this up and running.

"real speed dating" is usually pretty expensive from what ive heard. so with fanime doing you fans this service everyone should appreciate the effort going into helping the shy or socially awkward making more friends or opening opportunities to make legit friendships or be fortunate to find more.

if anything lets try not to overly be amused, but rather take a saving grace that fanime brings people together in ways that can be socially productive!

example~
hotel room: $100/per night
that plushie you bought in dealers room $25
that really cool picture you found in AA $15
pizza & soda that you really needed cuz you were hungry: $10

making new friends and epic memories for a life time:  Priceless

;)

for Everything else there Fanime
For everything that Otakus need a more. :D
HYPE!

e-mails have been sent out by the speed dating staff.

rules states that if you didnt apply prior to the may 23rd deadline you probably didnt make the cut.

those who were before that deadline either got the e-mail now for a specific time slot.
or from the looks of other fanime posters got added to a wait list for said time slot.

as ive stated before---   many will apply, few will be chosen.

from the sounds of it, they will have a waitlist for drop outs but again no promises.

if anything im curious what the guy to girl ratio was.

given that this is the first experimental year, they may expand it next year if the results and feedback is promising.

As Jerry stated above, e-mails have all been sent out. If you didn't get a reply but signed up, e-mail them at gospeedgo[at]fanime.com .

It was very popular to the point where our main list is full, our wait list is full, and we still had to turn away many people.

I'm not sure if we're going to ever officially state what the Guy:Girl ratio is, but it was positively surprising. :)
