I was working at infodesk this past con, and a lot of people would come up to us with lost items, which we would have to bring to conops, and then somebody would ask where the lost & found is, and we would escort them to conops or draw them a map, and if they didn't find their item, it would somehow be our fault.
All in all, I think it might be advantageous for Lost & Found to have their own table somewhere out in the con.
- If people see the table with a sign display that they're Lost & Found, they're more likely to return something, because if you find a wallet, a lot of people are willing to give it back if they know how, but a lot are too lazy to ask around where and would just be inclined to keep it.
- It's easier for people to find if they lost something.
any opinions on this?
The thing about Lost & Found is that having it out on the concourse, you would have to people manning it through the entire convention...as in 24/4. Also, there are some valuable things that are lost and you would want to have a secure location to hold all these things.
Those are the main points for having it with ConOps since ConOps is open 24/4 and is in a secure location. As in, no one can steal from ConOps like they can from a table out on the concourse.
