PIXAR: 25 Years of Animation
July 31 - January 9, 2011
Walt Disney's arrival in Los Angeles in the 1920s firmly established California as a magnet for animation artists in the decades to come. Home to a number of leading studios, the San Francisco Bay Area has emerged as a global center for animation today. PIXAR: 25 Years of Animation provides an unprecedented look at the renowned Emeryville-based studio (located just a few miles from OMCA) and showcases the creative work behind its wildly successful computer-animated films. After its opening in New York and its five-year international tour, the exhibition comes home to Oakland. The OMCA presentation includes all of the artwork from the original presentation at MOMA, plus art from Ratatouille, WALL•E, Up, and Pixar's latest film, Toy Story 3.
Would anyone be interested in checking this exhibit before it stops in January?
I would, but I am broke until work picks back up at the shop and Oakland scares the S*** out of me...
rounding up its about $15 per person and its on the NICE side of Oakland.
and yes, there is such a thing as the nice side of Oakland... :P
stop playing up on the stereotype that going to oakland is bad to your health. ::)
Sounds like fun :)
I could try to see if I can go, as long as it's on a weekend.

A Nice side of Oakland? Impossible...
Well if everything goes smoothly and the Hawaii Job comes up soon then I should have some money, so maybe.

I'm interested, but I don't have a lot of free days so I might have to bow out.
you have my attention.
I went on Black Friday. The parking lot was crowded and road construction made finding a freeway entrance a little difficult. BART might have been a good alternative. Arrived about 3pm and got tickets for entering the Pixar exhibit at 5:30. I heard they let 80 people in every half hour. There was interesting stuff to look at in the other museum galleries (and the gift shop) while waiting to get into the Pixar exhibit. Once inside, it was easy to get a closeup look at everything.
