So! I'm a fan of the blue hedgehog- not so much the plumber-
I've only played the very insanley old mario games---can anybody tell me what makes mario so awesome?
(aside from his hat and moustache )
Really...I was one of the "lame" kids who grew up with a Sega Genesis. For that reason, Sonic is a favorite of mine (though I've really only played the old ones). I understand the appeal of Mario, though. They have essentially the same concepts behind both games (sidescroll, boss level, collect items, etc.). They're both must-plays, in my opinion.

It's the classic tale of the hero that you can find throughout history, from "The Brave Little Tailor" to "Star Wars" and far beyond. It even gives the old, overweight, guys who learned a trade rather than experiencing college life that you still have a chance at getting your princess if you try hard.
