Title: The information displayed on your badge.
Post by: Meridian on March 30, 2011, 01:00:32 AM
What exactly is displayed on your Fanime badge? Is there anything different from the pre-registration and regular registration ones?

Historically, it is your fan name in big letters and your real name in full in small font. Pre-reg badges are full colored laminates and at-con badges are paper with a sticker.

Actually, your real name is printed bigger than your fan name :/ fans don't necessarily care for this though; I hope they change it this year ><

Pre-reg badges are full colored, and nicely laminated (they make great keepsakes for years to follow). At-con registration badges are paper.

I remember that about the previous years I've done badges. I know I'd rather not have my real name more visible than my fan name; I use a pseudonym for a reason. :) I'm sure it'd be too late to change designs this year, but is this something that could potentially be adjusted in the future?

The badges may appear to serve as the proof of your membership, however we also take on certain risks and responsibilities by organizing a convention. With that, we need to be able to identify you by your legal name in the case of certain events. I think it is very unlikely that we will change the emphasis of the names on the badge.

Oh, no, I understand that. I'm not questioning the necessity of the name on the badge at all, just on it's emphasis over the pseudonym. Most conventions I've gone to have had both, and I completely understand why my legal name needs to be visible as well.

I personally really liked the 2010 badge layout; both the name and fan name were clearly visible, and the layout was organized and visually appealing. :3 Much better than 2009 when you could barely see the fan name cause the font was ridiculously dark blue on black. ><;

My only criticism with last year's badges were that I would've liked to have seen "2010" a bit clearer, as with the 2009 badge. BUUUT that's more of a silly peeve since really it's just because I like to hang my badges from past years on my wall and having the year clearly visible just looks cooler. xD

Very few of the conventions I've been to have had someone's 'legal' name.
Any time I get a con badge with my so called "legal" name on it, said name very quickly gets covered by black marker.

I liked the 2010 badge that was used last year. I hope the 2011 badge is similar in format. My 2010 badge was green for the one day I was there in 2010.
