UPDATE 5/21/12 - I HAVE ONE co-ed $100 spot.

Details about me:  I'm a 35-year old male who will be attending Fanime for the second time.  I've gone to the Anime Expo from 1993 to 2010, and ALA 2011 and 2012, AM2, and Fanime in 2011.

My simple philosophy about rooms is that if you go, you should only have to pay the money requested and show up.  I'll take care of getting the rooms squared away.  In 2005, the Hilton at Anaheim said they were overbooked and I had to take a set of smaller rooms.  I managed to talk them into giving us a suite parlor to replace one of the rooms for no extra cost. 

I've also led a suite full of otaku at AX 2006, and I still look at that as the most fun I've had for a convention.  If I can get enough people together to do that again at another hotel, I would do it in a heartbeat. 

I'm bringing my Xbox360 with me.  I have several games including the latest WB Batman games, UMvC3, Halo Reach and Anniversary, and I have Rock Band 3 with over 600 available songs.

I'm called a fair and attentive leader, and I will be available for any questions.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS -  Updated 3/18/12

You have rooms in two hotels?  Short answer is... yes.  I have the number of rooms I needed, but the rooms went fast and I had to make a couple of short-term compromises.  However, I am on a waitlist to move the Marriott rooms to the Hilton, and I have encouraging signs that it can be done.

What kind of roommates are you looking for?  My keyword is "respectful".  I do my best to make sure everyone is involved in the group if they want to be, but if not, that's perfectly fine.  All I ask is that you do your best to be respectful of the people around you.  If you're working on a cosplay, please clean up after you're done.  If you're an early person, please dress in the bathroom to keep the accursed Sun out of people's eyes.  If you're a late person, come in quietly so as not to disturb anyone else.  Also, please don't do elevator parties.  There's only 3 elevators and it would be better to have them running free.

Update:  3/18/12 - Are the rates per night or whole stay?  Whole stay.

When would payment be due?  I ask that payment be sent about a month prior to the convention.  This gives me time to turn payments into cash for the hotels, as well as weed out any last second drop-outs.  Besides, it makes it easier to keep other people's money separate from mine until necessary.

How do you like payment?  I prefer checks or money orders.  If cash is sent in the mail and the postman loses it, it's lost for both you and me.  Checks or money orders can be traced by the sender, or cancelled and retrieved, if necessary.

Do you accept Paypal?  I avoid it unless I have no other choice.  After a certain amount each month, Paypal starts taking out a percentage for processing.  It doesn't sound honest to ask for "$175 plus 3% for processing," right?

What do we do about food?  I attended Fanime last year, so I have a good idea of where to go and who to order from for a good evening.  I'll set up a list and ask you if you can make it to a non-mandatory group dinner for everyone to sit, meet, greet, and relax.

I am also offering a $30.00 buy in which I use to pick up snacks like chips, pretzels, water, Kool-Aid, and other simple snacks, as well as garbage bags, bars of soap, shampoo/conditioner, and couple of odds and ends.  With that buy in, you'll also get 4 boxes of Pocky, and 3 bottles of Ramune for your personal use.

I'm a girl and I don't want to room with guys.  Not a problem.  I have two girls only rooms currently set up.  Please PM or e-mail me about these rooms, and I'll give you the details.

I'm under 18... Can I still go?  Sure.  I'll take people as young as 14, but if you are between 14 and 17, I HAVE TO SPEAK TO YOUR PARENTS FIRST.  This is non-negotiable.  It sounds very over-bearing, but if you're a minor, you lie to your parent/guardian about where you are, and you're found with me and/or my friends, that's a potential kidnapping charge on the adult(s) you're found with, and that's a great way to ruin a convention.

What's the rule about drinking?  I don't mind social drinking or fun drinking, but I don't condone getting fall-down drunk.  Also, NO MINOR DRINKING, PERIOD.  If you're an adult who gives a minor alcohol, we'll have a few unkind words, and I won't hesitate to involve the authorities. 

Someone I'm rooming with is getting on my nerves...  Bring anything like this to me.  I'm a decent negotiator and I will handle all issues like this.  Few things can make a weekend more tense than people irritating each other and drawing lines in the sand.  Even if it doesn't get to fighting, you're giving the cold-shoulder to someone else, and everyone else in that room will get frustrated and caught up in it.  That's not fair to everyone in that situation.

"Um... I broke something in the room."  This should be a no-brainer, but be prepared to pay for it.  I also inspect rooms quickly before I check them out.  The reason for that is if these things are reserved with my credit card and something comes up broken, I have to pay for it.  I limit my risks by being careful.

What happens if I break "the rules?"  I escort you out.  Not out of the hotel or the convention, but out of my room block.  No refunds and no arguments.  You're out.

Looking for a room.

Introduction: Hello, all.  My name is Nujtxeng Vang (new sang), and I'm looking for a room throughout the Fanime weekend.  I'm a 26 male from Sacramento, CA.  I'm currently attending Sacramento City College but have graduated from UC Davis with a degree in Neurobiology.  I'll be arriving early Friday morning (perhaps even on Thursday evening depending on the hotel cost) and be staying until the early evening of Monday.  I've attended a few conventions (gaming and anime); however, it will be my first time coming to Fanime.  I'm excited and looking forward to the experience.

Additionally, I don't smoke and don't drink.  I bathe daily (as weird as that sounds).  People say I'm a pretty quiet guy, but I do enjoy talking.  But if the situation calls for me to not intrude, then I'm all for being respectful and keeping my distance.  I love gaming and anime - so much so that I'm trying to start a club at my community college.  As such, as a representative of the organization, it obligates me to be diligent and professional at times.  I only share this information because I hope it reflects well of my character - again, being respectful, polite, and considerate while trying to have fun.  My attendance to Fanime will, in part, involve me doing a little press coverage so that I can bring the experience back to the students and share with them the wonderful community that is Fanime.

Hotel information: So long as it's in the vicinity of the convention, then the location of the hotel doesn't matter to me.  I'll have my own means of transportation anyway (i.e. my car).  As a side note, I'm more than willing to provide transportation for roommates to go out and eat, to the convention, back to the hotel, etc. if I, myself, am attending one of those locale.  But back to the hotel situation - I would prefer to room with non-smokers and non-drinkers.  I don't mind rooming with males and/or females nor do I mind sleeping on the floor.  In essence, I just need a place to crash.

Costs: I think $80 - $100 seems reasonable.  If it's slightly over $100, then shoot me a PM.  I'm more than willing to consider.

Requirements: It would be helpful if I get to know my roommates a little so that I don't do anything that would offend them.  Like I mentioned before, I'm all for being respectful and considerate.  But don't feel as if you shouldn't approach me.  If you want to have a conversation about my day at Fanime or about me, in general, then I will be more than willing to respond.

+ Introduction: hey there uhh. I don't really know what to write hereee ahaha. But I've got a group of 3 artist alley girls looking for some roommates to get our costs down. + Hotel Information: Thursday-Monday (4 nights, checkout Monday morning) at the Wyndham. It's a little ways out, but there is a convention shuttle that runs regularly according to the website. The room has 2 double beds, one of which we can offer up to whoever rooms with us.

+ Requirements: Looking for 1-3 more people. We're not really pickyyy about anything. Guys and girls are welcome, we're fine with minors or someone older than us as well. ROOMMATE WANTED

I'm staying in a room at the Fairmount with a few friends but I'd feel more comfortable with another girl roommate. So far there are three guys and me in the room. Hotel Information:The Marriot Thursday-Monday but I'm still not 100% sure I can swing Thursday. I'm gonna wait and see how many people we get and decide from there. The price also depends on the amount of people I end up getting. With 4 people the price will be about $105 but if we get more it could be half that. I have always ended up with 8+ people but who knows right? So I guess you should be ok with that if you're looking into rooming with me.

+ Introduction:
Hi all! My girlfriend and I (both girls, 20 and 21) are coming down to Fanime from lovely Oregon! We had been coming with two others, but they dropped out on us a couple weeks ago, and we have a two bed room at the Fairmont. :/ Too much for just the two of us, so we're looking for some chill roommates. We both don't smoke and won't be drinking at the con, and we're very relaxed.

My girlfriend had surgery right before she went to her last con, and someone stole her pain medication. :( It's just a respect thing. I mean, I know your friends are probably trustworthy, but especially if you've JUST met them at con, don't bring them up please!!
- Be respectful of other people in the room, especially if they're sleeping. Con can go late into the night, so the precious few hours of sleep we do get are, well.. precious.

I don't know how strict the cancellation date on this nonsense is, and I'm going to try to cancel it without getting a fee charged, but if I can transfer the room to someone else, that would be much better.

DESPERATE NEED FOR A ROOM!
Name: Christina, but I go by Stina. I'm 26 y/o. This is my 3rd Fanime. I'm currently staff for BW Ball and will be instructing/performing for the weekend. My partner/bf Anthony will also be attending. He's 21. This is his 2nd Fanime and he will be volunteering on BW Ball staff but is not an "official" staffer. Because of this, we are unable to get a staff room with our fellow BW Ballers and have to go about looking for a place to stay.
Hotel Info: Somewhere safe and close to the convention center. We will be checking in on Thursday evening/night (that's our last day of finals) and leaving Monday morning.  We have a very minimal amount of funding so we're trying to keep a budget between $50 to at most $90 for each of us, but depending on the people and situation, we are willing to negotiate. We are also willing to throw down for food/drink/snack in exchange for a place or lower hotel costs.
Requirements: Not picky on who to room with, down for co-ed. Our entire time spent at Fanime will be teaching dance and performing, with our schedules starting at around 9am until late the next morning. Our two longest days will be Saturday and Sunday. Because of this, we would really appreciate having a bed since our bodies will be killing us and waking up stiff the next morning to teach dance all day won't be fun at all. All we would be doing in the room is bathing and sleeping.... possibly grabbing a bite to eat if there's time. We would appreciate people who are chill and relaxed and can respect the need for sleep. We'll do our best not to wake you upon entering and leaving. Also, we will be bringing formal attire and dance costumes and would love to have respect for that since those get expensive and we do use them outside of Fanime (we're personal dance teachers as well).
Misc.: I'm slightly messy, but am respectful and keep my junk in its own corner, Anthony is completely neat and organized. We're both very respectful of people and their personal space/objects. We don't smoke and socially drink.... but it's rare and only if one of us isn't driving. We don't mind drinking in the room, but please don't do it if you're underage. As staff, if reflects badly on us and we would be held accountable. We're pretty chill and laid back. We love to explore and have fun and will have a bit of downtime during the con to grab food, explore , and hang out if you so desire. We're just grateful for someone willing to help us out.

Please don't leave a mess around. Make sure your food wrappers are in the trash and dirty clothes are not all over the place.  
Some good hygiene is also a plus. I'm not one to dictate others' shower habits but make sure we don't smell you from across the room.

+ Introduction: I'm a 26-year-old guy and a programmer who lives in the bay area.  I've been going to anime cons since I was 18, but this will be my first Fanime. I'm new to the area so sadly I don't have any friends to go with.  Normally I like to do some easy cosplay, be out of the room as much as possible, and have a couple libations after dark.  I'm not the type to get in others' hair or mess up their stuff, etc; I try to just do what I need to in the room and then get out.

+ Hotel Information: Thursday-Sunday (Sunday checkout) at the Fairmont. Unfortunately, the room only has one bed in it.  I'll be bringing a sleeping bag, so the bed would be up for grabs.  This is a non-smoking room.

+ Costs: I'm looking for $50/person for the hotel room.  I'd also be happy to bring food and drink, and we can split the cost on that, too (this will be in addition to the hotel cost).  I don't remember how much that runs on average, but I'll just be stocking up at Safeway before the con. About me: My name is Hamlet and I like anime. No really. I have an eclectic collection of interests - from sports, video games and martial arts to big data, linear regression, and the flailing Eurozone economy - but one of my first loves was anime. I've been reading manga and watching anime since I was about 5 and I've probably read/watched and forgotten the names and plots of more manga/anime than most of you will have seen. This will be my 3rd Fanime in a row. In real life, I work as an Intelligence Analyst at a startup in San Francisco. We're building a global intelligence platform. And yes, it is as cool as it sounds. 

The situation: So 3 of my friends and I decided a long time ago to get a room near the SJ Convention Center for Fanime. But friend A is going with his girlfriend to LA this weekend (and didn't tell me until today). And friend B is working all day through the weekend (but will be joining non-con festivities at night). While friend C can only be there Friday and Saturday. Which means plenty of room and not a lot of people...

Requirements: No preference for gender, but you should know that we're mostly guys in the room. I would probably prefer someone 18+, and 21+ even more so because there will most likely be some drinking...probably....but really, I'm not too fussy about roommates (I've lived with tough ones in my day) but the main ask is that you're respectful, talk to us once in a while and don't trash the room (I'd hate to see incidental charges). Yeah, a pretty low bar set there. But I'm a newly-minted black belt, so no funny business  ;)

I'll be likely out and about most of the day time and night time, with short naps here and there and a good night's sleep when I can get it. So the room is just that - a room, a quick place to check in here and there, nap, and shower, etc.

I know it's late in the game, but I figure someone might have had a last minute change of mind and might be in need of a room. Big, big pluses if:
- You can offer more money $$
- You can handle a few drunk and rowdy people
- You clean up after yourself
