Hi! I just found out about Fanime and I'd loove to go to it since I live nearby and am kinda obsessed with Hetalia ::) And I'd really like to dress up as a character and hang out with other Hetalia-lovers
Kaoanshskdkancjwowjfndkdbd KEYBOARD SMASH. This year's Hetalia Gathering was so fun, I got tons of pictures! I can't wait for next year's and I hope it'll be bigger. It's great that the park is near by just in case we run out of time (Like this year). I'll be working on a new Hetalia cosplay for 2012!

Alright gang, I'm going to start making the cosplay list. There is a good chance this year that I won't be able to make it to Fanime....however, I'll go ahead and set up this gathering....but as Fanime gets closer, I may have to step down as organizer and hand the gathering over to some of my helpers ;-) Hopefully not, but I'll know by the beginning of March for sure. Anyhow....as for date/time/place....any good ideas? Last year's date/time/place was fine, but with so many cosplayers, we weren't able to do all the shots that we wanted before we had to vacate the area for the Bleach shoot. The thought to meet at a different location directly after the main shoot to continue was proposed, but it didn't actually happen. Maybe try again this year? Perhaps, keep roughly the same date/time/place but actually plan a second location to continue the shoot if needed?
sorry this is our first years so what exactly is the date time and place are you guy considering? any time is fine with us but we would like to know to build our schedule around it.
Last year the gathering was on Sunday at 11am or something, right? Personally that time and day sounds fine for me. If anything, the location might be in question by the time the con happens. I know that the fountain out front is gone now, but I don't know what that entire area will look like come Memorial Day Weekend. I've seen the specs for the future look of the convention center somewhere on the forums here, so we can get at least an idea of how much room there will be out front.
I dunno, maybe it's too early to tell right now and I'm just rambling. XD Basically, time and day from last year sounds good to me, but maybe later (based on what people think and what we're told about the look of the convention center) we can decide on the exact location. *shrug*

LOL, keep in mind I'm not the gathering's organizer! XD Ultimately it will be left up to that person. (But unless anyone objects or proposes another day, I think Sunday is a safe bet. :P)

Sunday sounds awsome because I am going to the Bleach gathering and I think it might be on Sat in the late afternoon. Hetalia is my obsession and I don't want to miss it. However i am already signed up for the Bleach gathering. So Sunday works for me and 11 sounds good. I also think most of the other big gatherings wll be on Sat.
Yes, there are a lot of big gatherings on Saturday. So is everyone okay with Sunday at 11am? As for the location, yeah....I heard about the removal of the fountains, ect. I know Bsapphire was going to keep us organizers posted regarding photoshoot locations....but at the moment, we can stick with our location from last year, which was: FiF CE = Fountains in Front (Convention Entrance). After our time is up, if we still have more shots to do, is everyone okay with moving to the Aztec/snake/giant poo statue? For those of you not familiar with it, it is a statue with some park-ish area around it and it is a very short walking distance from the convention center. We would move en masse, so even if a few people don't know how to get there, we should all make it just fine. So, the rundown:

MidnightPrincess94, the problem with going to a later time on Sunday is that we start running into other gatherings. The Kuro photoshoot is at 3:30pm on Sunday, and I know we have Hetalia people who want to be in that. Trinity Blood is aiming for 1:30pm, and we have a few Hetalia people (including myself) that are a part of that shoot. Afternoon/late afternoon photoshoots are very popular, and given the amount of people that the Hetalia shoot always has, trying to have a shoot when everyone else is/or during a busy Con time is problematic. :-[
I know the Shonen Jump is later that day as well I would like to attend. Early sounds best because it gives us more time to do a whole shoot without people running off in the middle of it. Sorry.
Well, this will be my first Hetalia Gathering at Fanime (I've gone two years already, but just got a useable China cosplay last year, but couldn't go since FMA was around the same time, so I went to the Hetalia Gathering for SacAnime). So I hope this will be as memorable, as I come as China-aru!
I can see IF I can pack an extra cosplay of Prussia! Unfortunately I am kind of dark toned so a white wig would NOT look good on me so I'd prob just be a half-assed Prussia lol

Spain here, I can take over if you can't make it. I am known for bring back the Legend of Zelda Gather to life, I do the Final Fantasy VII gathering every year so I know what I am doing for the most part.

I have never hosted one either. With hetalia its a big group, your going to need some expirence with controling such a big crowd.

Last year, we actually had a team of folks working to keep things moving during the gathering. That was necessitated partly by the time crunch, but with bigger groups it usually takes multiple people to wrangle everyone -- it just makes it less stressful for the person heading up the gathering, IMO.

That can very easily get to the point of too many cooks -- it's best to have one or two people taking point and a handful to help them out, otherwise you wind up going in different directions and it goes back to chaos. I've seen that happen with big gatherings too. If you do, I suggest that you change the official time; if you're not, I suggest someone else take official charge (to check in with B and things like that). Just my two cents based on past experience with both Hetalia and with running gatherings.

I know what you mean. Well I will get a hold of BSaphire but two co-host for this gathering would be great I have a loud voice but I need two others tow help out and what not. So I am taking over, in the name of Spain!
Last year, though we had a group, B wanted one primary point of contact (in that case, Shokora) -- to check in, to be the person the con photographers should report to, etc. It gets flexible with the actual gathering, but that's what I remember from talking with Shokora and helping out last year. (Just FYI. /ramble)

Hello Hetalia cospeeps! I am unsure what has happened to Shokora (please let me know) but I was asked about a time change for this gathering. I actually need to change the time to earlier or change the location from FCC HS. Here is the deal... The Lolita's have to move outside to FCC HS and that leaves their room available (should you like to use it) I would also like this gathering to have more than one person running it. I know that several have stood up to help, but I need a set list of one org and two assist for this gathering. It is just to big for one.. and AnimefanJJ I could use your help for the FF All gathering if you don't mind.. I have a big surprise planned for that one and I need an extra body. If you can please post on that thread.

@BSaphire: Thanks, I will do my best as always, and hell I might just become the permanent organizer for Hetalia gathering during Fanime in the future.
Spain rules over all for now. But yea two or three helpers would be great, since my printer is down, I need someone to print out the line up. I requested a time change to 11:30am Sunday morning because I have a panel to do at 10am and won't be out until 11am. I need time to get out of my cosplay from the panel to Spain for this gathering. I hope everyone is ok with the time change. PM me if you want to become my helper experience with co-hosting or hosting a gathering would be great, but not necessary. Remember I am only look for two or three people as my co-host for this gathering.

Yes I am in charge now and demetria hasn't gotten a hold of me yet. But I will take any help I can get. Also we need an Order of Photo shoot for this gathering. We can use the old order from last year or make a new one.

For example, start your list with all the Allies (i.e., all Americas, Englands, ect), then the Axis powers, and so on. If you realize that you don't have enough people from a particular group (maybe there are no Baltics or Nordics coming, or maybe only 1 or 2), then eliminate that Photo or find a way to incorporate those 1-2 people elsewhere. Also, when listing cosplayers who are cosplaying a certain country/character, pay attention to what version they are doing. If you have over 4 people doing Rev. War versions of America, England, ect, then you may want to include a Rev. War Photo.
3. Once you've come up with your Photoshoot Order, double-check to make sure you've included every cosplayer....sometimes countries such as Egypt or other minor countries get left out when one sticks to the basic Axis/Allies/Europe/Americas Photogrouping.
4. Start with a group shot, end with a group shot. People show up late and also cut out early.
5. The day of the shoot, take a good look at who actually shows up. Modify your Photogrouping according to that.

the gethering was a HUGE success!!!!!!!!! i had so much fun with grandpa Rome and Holy Rome! it was funny how everyone squealed and awwed when we were together lol :D
This was so much fun! It was so amazing being with my grandsons and giving therapy hugs.
I wanted to apologize in advance for the constant old man fanservice Germania and I were giving out. :p The first two times were okay, but I feel like maybe it was a bit much at the all ages panel. But hey, what can you do with dem Germanics. ;p
EDIT: I also was sad there weren't more ancients to join in our shoot.. I thought we'd at least get a China up there or something. :c
Completely bummed about missing the gathering entirely- first cosplay malfunctions, my Belgium friend wasn't even close to done with Belgium and my Grandmano got rushed. That and when we were looking for the gathering I was told the wrong place!
Hopefully next year we'll make it! :(

Hey, all! Fantastic gathering this year! I know I had a ton of fun. :D I was the Spain in the Hetaween Red Riding Hood group that hijacked the Gathering while our host was running a bit behind schedule. :) Unless someone else has already volunteered, I gladly offer my services to be the host for next year's Gathering (though how soon is too soon to start planning, haha :3 ). Also, if you have any feedback (comments, crits, ideas, or pretty much anything but flames :x ), please let me know. Would love to make future Gatherings run as smoothly as possible, and get new ideas! I know there was a bit of shuffling around with the location, sorry about that, everyone. I didn't quite have all my info straight. But everyone there was awesome, and it was everyone's effort that made the gathering so great. Hope to see everyone next year!

I know I had a ton of fun. :D I was the Spain in the Hetaween Red Riding Hood group that hijacked the Gathering while our host was running a bit behind schedule. :) Unless someone else has already volunteered, I gladly offer my services to be the host for next year's Gathering (though how soon is too soon to start planning, haha :3 ). Also, if you have any feedback (comments, crits, ideas, or pretty much anything but flames :x ), please let me know. Would love to make future Gatherings run as smoothly as possible, and get new ideas! I know there was a bit of shuffling around with the location, sorry about that, everyone. I didn't quite have all my info straight. But everyone there was awesome, and it was everyone's effort that made the gathering so great. Hope to see everyone next year!

If I recall correctly, someone at the gathering told me that the whole thing started at 11:20am rather than 11:30am. A ten minute difference that kept me and a friend out of quite a few group shots by the time we got there on time.
If that's true, then please remember not to jump the gun next year! It was still fun in the end, but I didn't like knowing I probably missed out on some of the bigger shots. D:
I hope everything works out next year. We had to move like three times and the gathering had to start later than planned. I was there slightly early so I was in early shots before we got moved. The gathering was great don't get me wrong but I felt the location was a big cramped for teh big group we had. Both the cosplayers and the photographers had a hard time doing anything. I once agin I hope everything gets worked out so every Hetalia cosplayer and Hetalia fan can enjoy the gathering. ;D

It was 11:30am is when it is suppose to start. Who ever told you that it started at 11:20am was lying, I should know I moved it to the 11:30am slot.

I know we moved three times it is because we got so big and then we blocked an exited. So yea next year I will make sure we don't move so offend.
Obliviousedward: strangely, the Gathering started before I got there, too. You're right. I should have restarted the photosets when we moved to our correct place, but I was a bit flustered. Apologies, and will definitely try to do better with that next year. Thank you for the feedback! (I also didn't realize we'd started early.. I should have checked my clock instead of just relying on people starting to gather in groups and take photos.)
Haunterluvcookies: Hopefully, next year the construction will be completed and we will have a larger area. The reasons we kept moving is that the Gathering originally started in someone else's spot (my fault, I got the areas mixed up and thought we were where we were supposed to be), and then we were told with so many people near the doors, we were a fire hazard and so had to move again (and I was really kind of worried we were going to be told the same thing again). I think it worked out well for the space we had, though ideally we will have a bigger spot next year. Thanks for the feedback!

No worries, astel! I knew it was SUPPOSED to start at 11:30am, I can understand starting early by mistake, especially considering the size of the gathering itself. It must have gotten hectic having people waiting around like that! XD
And yeah, with any luck, most of the construction will be finished by next year. If anything, there will be a bit more room out front than this year. *crosses fingers*
Yeah for an awesome gathering like Hetalia we need some space to spread out. But some of the shots we got this year was so awesome and cool! I felt like even though there was so me problems, it was made up for in all the great photos that came out of the gathering.... now if someone would post some of those awesome pics. Sadly I had no one to take them for me.
Yeah, I didn't get ANY shots of any of the groups. I'm short and I was near the back of the crowd, lol. XD I'm sure pics will start to pop up eventually! (Maybe people are still recovering from the immediate post-con depression, hehe.)
I seen some videos by a 2P America on youtube but thats about it. I only found a few pictures from the gathering. Any news on getting more?
