Hi there! I just want to let you guys know that the convention center will be undergoing some pretty major changes over the next two years. Some of the gathering areas might be affected. B and I are trying to work something out so there won't be (hopefully) as many issues with spaces. We might have an area set aside in one of the hotels that would be available for use for some of our gatherings. Please keep this in mind as you are discussing the possible locations for your gathering.

Ok good to know :) is there any topic in the "Cosplay! Construction, Tips, Gatherings, Advice" section or someplace that will be keeping a list of any new locations that will be added or removed as it gets closer?

I'm ninety-five percent sure the updates will be in the first post of the Cosplayer Gatherings Department thread. I do know we will definitely be announcing the information as soon as we have it.  Don't worry, we've got your back. We're cosplayers too. ;)

I'm not really sure to be honest :( feel like the area with trees on the right side of the fountain might be a good spot since it's shaded and has space for if the gathering ends up being big, I know some of the costumes get a little on the thicker/layered side so wouldn't want anyone standing in the sun and wanting to keel over. Not sure what that area would be called or if that's a closed off area due to the renovation or not.

Just logged on this morning to happily find that pre-reg will be opening on the 7th, was tad to see it opening this late along with the price having gone up compared to pre-reg last year... but at least it's finally up!  ^^ I'd suggest all trying to snag it this month before the price goes up~

Happy new year! :) Yea, I also saw that it went up to $50. I suppose since it's only $5 over the regular price that it usually is, it's not too much to ask. But coming from a girl absolutely scrambling for every penny I can get, it's still a bit hard. My boyfriend and I will be registering when it opens on Friday! Can't wait!

Same xD friends and I were just mainly surprised since even Anime Expo starts out at $45 and it's on a larger scale then Fanime, it's not enough to cause problems just found it odd that it bumped up. Hopefully everyone that had been waiting for it to open will check soon, can imagine some have almost forgotten about it xD

Thanks! This will actually be my first attempt sewing a costume xD I have a friend helping me do it who knows how to use a sewing machine thankfully or the hand sewing on his scarf alone would probably take me a month to do /OTL

Nice! I heard they sold out within an hour of them opening up, I'm just thankful I prefer the Fairmont or I'd probably be in trouble xD

Pretty sure it will be on Saturday, still working out a time but it will probably be in the afternoon since the Soul Eater gathering that I'm also running is aiming for the same time it usually has every year (around noon). I still need to take a sweep of gatherings already set up on that day to see what times are already booked so they don't overlap with any major gatherings :)

More like a half hour really XD haha, but yea, in a blink of an eye they were pretty much gone (I kinda love that though, shows how big Fanime is getting <3) and saturday would be good :) I know I only have one other gathering that is going to be for sure on Saturday, so it should be okay. Plus, it's usually one of the most crowded days, so more photographers and cosplayers may come! :)

Yikes, yeah it does show how big it's getting. I feel like partly this year it might get bigger since they added on the mini steampunk con in a side hotel with it, the main steampunk convention that happens in the area (Albion Expedition) got canceled this year for some reason so I'm curious if vendors shifted to Fanime's this year as well as attendees from the other.

Yeah, Saturday seems to always be the more crowded of the days :) if your other gathering sets a time try and let me know and I'll work around it

And thanks :) It's the Disney gathering, It's going to be on Saturday for sure, but I have yet to know what time. It'll come up as Fanime gets closer and then I'll let you know.

I'm just curious how late people are alright with this gathering starting at, I haven't checked any other larger gatherings yet for what times they're doing but I'd really like to be able to try and get a set time soon. I imagine something in the 3pm-6pm range just since I'm not sure if later how light or dark it will be.

I'd love more opinions from everyone since I'm trying to work for everyone to be able to attend! :D

I think the afternoon would be fine :) it'll be close to summer so longer days. 6pm might be a tad late. Still unsure of the times of my other gatherings but I don't think they'll overlap each other. I can always do a quick change lol. I would say between 3pm-5pm would be good and maybe 6pm if it's okay with everyone else.

I say the maybe 4 pm would be good. We'd still have some good sun out for photos and everyone will most likely still have some energy left to attend.

That's a good point, it would also give me time to do a quick change for a panel I have to attend xD Boy, Saturday will be a fun day for me to say the least!

Let me know what everyone is alright with or if a gathering overlaps with it that your planning to attend, I'm fine pushing it back later or earlier but I have to be able to dash off to a panel starting at 6 (I only just found out today the date and time of the panel so it squeezed me a bit in time).

Yep, I was hoping it'd be around there since I have about three gatherings to attend (one with my group, two for photo taking) and a lunch with my group between 11 pm and 3pm. So my schedule was a little cramped.

give it a shot, i love tea. look you grab a blanket and give everyone the heads up on a tea party so they bring there own cups. or It could be a side thing, like afterwards we'll have a tea party. well, you can't forget the yaoi/yuri photos... i mean. XD plus, gilbert and alice duking it out. i'm just bouncing ideas here, so don't take these to heart. oh, gilbert defending oz, echo being hot... XD

I took pictures of the entire gathering so I will be trying to get those uploaded as soon as I can, unfortunately my camera took them in a file format that my computer does not like so it might be a little while until I can get them fully uploaded.

And I plan to continue this thread and such for the gathering until the end of this month, it's more of if there still isn't 15 by that point I will not submit for an official time slot. I have a lot going with senior year and with the new system of applying for time slots has me a bit nervous to juggle 2 gatherings unlike previous years of just posting a single time wanted... so if it ends up being a small gathering it's not something I want to risk juggling. :(

I'm willing to do anything if you need anything. I don't have any experience running/assisting with gatherings, but I'll try my very best! I just really don't want this gathering to be a burden to you ;__;

Oh it's okay the forum work is the easiest part, I actually enjoy getting to talk to people ahead of time ;D Most of the problematicness of this gathering are that the turn out is completely up in the air, with everyone on the forum alone who said they'd join odds are at least 2-4 will not end up getting the costume done or something will come up. It happens, I've had costumes fall through in the past before cons.

It mostly just falls that when it gets to a point that there aren't a lot of people signing up that it isn't looking hopeful for a gathering turn out. Like, it kinda falls into more of a meetup of a few groups for shots rather than a gathering... if that makes sense? I'm sorry, having trouble phrasing this ^^;

I'm still leaving this up till the end of the month, I'm fine listing and running it if it reaches 15 people.

And WONDERFUL news! My hotel was switched to the Fairmont so I will not have to cancel the gathering, the distance was what made it a bother before so it will be fine now ;D I will be looking for a time to list it in the afternoon on Saturday since I am not a morning person and need time to change after having the Soul Eater gathering at noon. UPDATE: I have shortened the official photography list, anyone who wants pictures of a certain pairing and such please just talk to me at the gathering and we will see if we have the characters to do it. I didn't like having a ton of orders last year so it'll all be based on what you guys want to see.

I had to take off one of my cosplays and hers was the most expensive.
