I wouldn't go in any of the rooms (artists alley, gamers room, panels). I mean just walking around the lobby, taking pictures of people. I'm fairly sure this is okay, as long as I don't go in any of the official fanime rooms.
If you're just going to be taking pictures of people in front of the center and on the ground floor in the lobby, then no, you don't need a pass.
We have events and gatherings that do not require a membership. Also if you just want to walk around, there are non-badged areas. :)
Frankly it's pretty boring without a badge. And remember the earlier you buy your badge the cheaper it is. Now correct me if I am wrong badge starts at $45.00? But dont quote me on that. And that is for the full weekend. If I am wrong it will start at $50.00.
I mean yeah if you absolutely can not afford it, you know it is fun to hang out with friends in the halls, or even hang out with the Cosplayers outside of the Convention Center. BUT! You CAN get into the convention center without a badge. You just cant go into rooms if you want to buy stuff in the dealers hall, you cant get into the viewing rooms, the masqurade, the Black and White Ball, the Dance... it is pretty fun WITH a badge.
