It's a dance, not a rave. Trust me, I've been to raves. The Fanime Dance is not one. :P
What brings you to the dance? I like electronic dance music and I like dancing to it. I like the idea of having a rave-style dance without the distinctive cloud of pot smoke. I feel a lot safer knowing I can go back to my hotel at any time if anything goes wrong.
Who you going with (group of girls/guys)? Mostly girls, but I think my friend's going to drag her boyfriend along. :)
Will you be going in costume? Most likely not. I move around a lot, so I wouldn't want to mess up a costume.
Idk... Last time I saw a gumby.. He didn't have any real moves.
Hopefully the music will be better this year.

Well if I do go, it would mainly be to have fun, I presume. I enjoy Trance, Techno, Hardcore, Hardstyle, and the like and listen to it quite often.
I don't go to clubs or raves or anything like that, mainly because A) I am not socially active, B) none of my friends are interested in it, and C) I really just enjoy the music, and I don't need to go to events like that to enjoy it.

Go into a relatively dark room with a potentially fragile costume to dance and sweat and all that jazz... Hmm, no, I don't think so. It would be kind of pointless if you ask me, and not very good for the costume either.

I'm not sure yet. Might just go in my dance attire. It's comfy and there is no restriction on my ability to dance

The topic has come up at least a dozen times while I have been a member of the forums.
Terming the dance as a "Rave", which it is not regardless, is generally seen negatively. What with a large amount of the folks going being under aged, I don't believe any parents would want to be sending their children to a convention that hosts a "Rave" every night.
It also inadvertently attracts a bad crowd. It is undeniable that many Ravers are drug abusers and conduct other illegal activities. Not to say all Ravers are like that, and all raves promote this. However the Con is supposed to be "Family Friendly", or as much as it can be outside of the various 18+ panels and events. Having a group of Drugged-Up Ravers coming through the con every night definitely does not support this image.
