This is my second year going to Fanime, and last year most of my registration work was done by a friend and was online. This year, I'm just going with a friend for a day so we decided to just buy a badge at-con for a single day. The problem is, I'm really confused on what we'll be needing to be able to get a badge. Cash, of course, but will I have to bring an ID? My friend and I are both under 18, so we only have school IDs. Does this mean we have to bring a passport? I saw the parent wavier on the fanime website, but I noticed it mentioned only the pre-registration. Please help, it'd really be nice. (>__<)
Also, any tips on what to bring to fanime? Are we allowed to bring our own food and drinks(water)? Also, how long is the line wait on Saturday? I've heard it could takes several hours to get the badge and go in. Sorry for asking so many questions. I'd greatly appreciate any help on this. Thanks!
I could be wrong so don't completely rely on this but. ...
When I went for first time and for only one day in 2008, I was under the age of 18 at the time and was worried about the same thing. I took my school ID just in case but they didn't really need it. They needed my name, home address, e-mail and birthday. And nickname. Waited two hours in line to buy my pass and enjoy the rest of my day. I don't know if you'll need the ID atcon but I'd bring it + wait for an official answer.
Hopefully you'll get a clear answer soon!
It would be cool if you had an ID just in case something happens (emergency) or if you lose your badge. If you lose your badge, we kinda really need to verify your identity.
You can bring food if you like, there are some topics on that in General Convention discussion in the forums.
The line on Saturday can really range from 30 min to a few hours.
