Title: Heroes of Cosplay
Post by: PuniPuniShosa on August 14, 2013, 04:33:51 AM
I am curious about what everyone thinks about this new show on the Syfy Channel.  It's only been one episode as of now, so it's too early to form a solid opinion, but I still want to hear what people think.

I watched it knowing what to expect. It's a slight glorification of professional cosplayers, I knew it would have unnecessary drama. But from a Cosplayers point of view it made me laugh, made me cringe, and reminded me of things from my own experiences. In my opinion that makes it a good show:3

I do wish they had more male contestants though o.O Seemed a bit off with just the one.

So far, it's not as bad as America's Greatest Otaku.

But that's not saying too much.

I really liked it!

The drama was a bit much at times, but still funny! Some of the conversations seemed really scripted, but I liked the con footage and seeing all the masquerade costumes and seeing all the construction stuff. I also appreciate the time slot (after Face Off), because it doesn't make it seem like some weird nerdy cult thing, but rather as a hobby/trade similar in some ways to what movie magic people do. If that makes sense. It's accessible to people who aren't cosplayers as well as those who are.

Doesn't take much to be above that monstrosity.
