Thanks for the update! Seems like the hotels change those amounts every year. That will be much better for my roommate, since the room is on their card, and no one likes a bunch of extra money being put on hold over the weekend.
Anything for the Marriott?

I've noticed that the deposit for the Hilton changed too. I expected the usual $150 for the whole weekend, ended up being $75.

To clarify, there are two opportunities to collect a "deposit", one is when you book the hotel, and the other is when you check into the hotel.
I've stayed at the Marriott, the Hilton and the Fairmont and all of them had a "deposit" upon check in. They seem to have gone down (25/night is lower than the 50/night it used to be for Hilton).
However, none of them have required a deposit to book the room.
