As the title states, where do you buy your anime?
What websites are reliable and trustworthy to buy anime from?
I'd love to hear from you guys. There are many people including myself who just don't know a good place to shop.
Thanks,
yOna :!:
amazon.com, if they have it. They have the mainstream ones like Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, and I'm sure others, but those are the only ones I've looked for. They're also okay with translated manga, including new realeses. Hope that's helpful...
I like rightstuf.com (http://www.rightstuf.com) for my online purchases. They have a ton of stuff and it seems like there's always some kind of promotional discount going on.
I order a lot from AnimeNation ( http://www.animenation.com/ ). They have cool deals and a ton of titles. All their titles are region 1.
I dont order fomr online, I buy my Anime from Suncoast. Awesome place. They sell Pocky also.
I get my stuff any where I can with a good price, ebay, stores, garage sales, flea markets, you'd be surprised what yoiu can find there and so on. I mainly look for sales since I don't have a lot of money to spend.
Mine's either Best Buy or Fry's Electronics for the physical stores, and for online, rightstuf.com :D
http://www.discountanimedvd.com/ > greater than all other anime sites. You can get the anime soo cheap too! its great.
O ho ho ho ho ho! My friend gave me an AWESOME link to buy cheap imported anime! I reccomend it for everyone. The main base is in Sacramento.
www.animekrazy.com
They often hold sales and sell box sets of popular anime series for cheap. Also, there is this next place where I haven't yet tried as I don't know their system, but anime is cheap.
www.animegod.com
um...ebay ^^" i usually buy from "power sellers," and only products that are new. NOT BOOTLEGGED!!!! >.<
um, is this topic referring to anime dvds or merchandise?
Merchandise I would assume pertain to DVDS as well but you know what they say about those who assume. Anyways, my response is ANYWHERE ITS CHEAP.
My region 2 dvds... from Amazon Japan and rest like Region 1's I buy it from ebay or best buy(with discount coupon only). 8)

I'm referring to DVDs

Sorry, let me clearify...
Merchandise: toys, trinkets, collectibles, action figures.
I buy most of my dvd and anime related stuff (figures, toys) from Collector's Universe, El Cerrito, CA. My manga mainly comes from Kinokuniya Bookstore in the JapanTown center, San Francisco. Other items I may pick up at different cons. Yeah, it's not cheap and I'm putting the Collector's Universe owner's kids through school with my purchases. Sigh, but they're such cute kids and deserve a chance for a good education.
I mostly buy DVD's at SunCoast, as for Merchandise I go to Japan Town in San Francisco CA or any Cons that I go to.
Fry's or Best Buy usually have the best deals. Suncoast is more expensive, but has a greater selection if you are looking for something harder to find. I dont buy online though, don't trust the evils of technology!

Yeah Suncoast sells most of their stuff at full price, but they do have good sales sometims on new releases. I just picked up ROD the TV #4 for $20 from them.
Plus I am a Replay member, which gives you points towards rebate coupons. The down side is you have to pay for the member ship but I have already gotten $60+ worth of coupons. So It paid for itself the first year.
well, i get all my anime from ebay, and i guess i lack morals, cos i dont really care if its bootlegged anymore. i dont need subs so much, so as long as i got the series, im good. also, amazon.com, roberts anime corner store, and amazon japan are really good. and i live in a hick town here in cali, so anime is hard to come by in physical stores....heh. as for merchandise, i buy all my anime goods from j list,*they have a great selection of dating sims* and ebay.*just got a bebop lighter from them. it works great*
mine varies

I sometime buy from Fry's, and Best Buy, but the ones in my area (South L.A.County) seem to have a limited selection.
I've had better luck finding titles from Jungle Anime(for both domestic, and imports), DVD Planet, and Sam Goody. Suncoast is good, but there isn't one near me.
i buy my anime at Nykaku or Best Buy.....yep.... :)
Well, today I found a new place to buy some Anime...
While shopping a a local Big Lot's store, I accidently ran across some VIZ DVD's, and VHS. I actualy found some Ranma 1/2, Trouble Chocolate, Corrector Yui, Yu Gi Oh, Zoids, and Hamtaro volumes, for the low price of $3.99! ( okay, so I passed up the Hamtaro DVD's).
I've also seen ADV DVD's at Walgreens, but they usualy run at $9.99, and are mostly their non-Anime titles.
Ebay. Lots and lots of Ebay. Stuff can be generally found for less there, especially if it's an older release (instead of online and offline anime shops that'll still charge you 25 bucks for a DVD that's four years old) and there's always competition for the best deal, so chances are you can pay less there.
Otherwise, anime castle. www.animecastle.com Very good deals, pretty good selection.
Let's see...my dvds from different places: best buy, suncoast, sometimes target (mostly for the more recent inuyasha volumes), manga: borders, barnes and noble, and the Kinokunia in Japantown or in San Jose; along with Suncoast when they have deals. Merchandise: Suncoast or comic shops, and of course cons...the Mitsua Japanese market in San Jose has a nice store in it too. Also, online I order from animenation. So there ya go :)
Like lots of people, I'd rather actually see the product before I plunk down for it, so I generally prefer a real-live store to shopping online. Japan Video in SF is a favorite of mine, and also where I do a lot of renting. I occasionally enjoy browsing among the bootlegs in Chinatown in SF, too, although I don't buy bootlegs. I mostly just like to compare the stuff that's available out of Taiwan or HK that doesn't get licensed for stateside release.
I've gotten some very good deals on some legit products from eBay and Amazon. Good choices for used copies of older stuff.
www.animeniacs.com they have anime for a pretty good price. and i go to the common discountanimedvd.com or amazon.com other then that the rest at anime cons XD
It varies for me. I might get it at my workplace, Tower Records, or Gamestop or Best Buys. It just how I am able to get them will determine how I will get them. Yup.

Gamestop? That would be the LAST place I'd buy from. Did you ever notice when you buy something "new" off the shelf, the package is open?
I,ve had freinds buy stuff from them that were supposed to be new, and didn't have inserts, or instructions.
Best Buy and Suncoast for me.
G.I.R about Gamestop where you talking about video games, DVD's or both?
Both. I've never seen an unopened video game, or rarely a DVD at Gamestop. I've turned down purchases because the package the try to ring up has been obviousy opened (broken seals). At least if I go to Game Crazy stores, you know up front that it's open/used.
I think the problem with buying DVDs from most Gamestops is that they don't specialize in DVD sales. Because of that, they don't keep sealed DVDs behind the counter, like they do with the video games. When they do sell DVDs, they have to remove the contents because the case will be placed in the DVD bin for display. Then there's the whole issue of most if not all of those DVDs being trade-ins. I've been to one Gamestop that sells brand-new, sealed DVDs and that's about it.
Okay, do I,ve posted before about finding VIZ DVD's at "Big lots", but that doesn't even match what I found there today.
Assorted Pioneer/Geneon titles for $3.99
Titles seen:
-Ai Yori Aoshi
-Captain Herlock
-Magical project S ( a multi disk package)
-Sherlock Hound
-Serial Experiment Lain
-Lupin the Third TV
-Wanderers
-Haibane Renmei
... and more titles than I can remember. Sucky thing, several of these I have bought already at full price! ](*,)
I don't know if these are available nation wide, or if it's only in SoCal stores. Anyone else seen these?
I try to buy from Nikaku. I know I can count on them even if it's full price.
I like to patronize them as much as I can.
I don't trust fry's or gamestop for buying dvds. I've had bad experiences with both. I'd buy more from bestbuy if I could get there easily.
And I don't buy things online cause I can't...
animenation is my primary store, but I sometimes buy from 2 ebay also
I usually buy from yesasia.com or ebay. Lots of ebay because it's so much cheaper but the wait just kills me.
I buy mostly from best buy (Prices are death! It's sooo expensive... T_T) and some from Barnes and Noble
For me, it's Best Buy; sometimes it's Media Play
where ever its sold!
sa Quiapo! just kidding.
DVDs: best buy, fry's, media play, sometimes i rent it at blockbuster,
Chinatown for asian films, drunkenmaster during cons,
and whenever there are conventions
Plushies, Pins, Tshirts, Scrolls, etc.: most conventions that I attend to, coz when i go to stores here in the bay area, they are pretty much the same stuff.
Manga, Magazines, etc.: barnes and noble, kinokuniya, wherever.
Now these are places I go and buy my animes.
Suncoast, Best Buys, and Japantown Video store.
1st source: Suncoast
2nd source: Video lady (erm...the lady who runs the local vid store in frisco. Mission Video, across from El Pollo Supremo)
I used to get anime from The Warehouse. After that and since attending anime cons, I would say Dealer's Rooms and Swap Meets (but typically Dealer's Room).
ebay only cause where i am at, i get good deals on ebay and paypal saves me cause i dont have a card and they ship to me, but when i am back at the states suncoast, sometimes best buy suprises me.
I Get mine at Anime 101 in Morgan Hill... gah, i think i am going to start buying it off ebay tho, cuz i am going to start selling it there too...
buy?
...
for me, only at cons because its where I tend to feel loose with the wallet
xD, well for dvds I buy from Best buy mainly and Tower records, Ebay, and Japan Video.
Manga's are most likely to be bought at my local Borders but I buy Japanese manga from Kinokuniya and I'll buy merchadise pretty much anywhere.
Borders has been my only outlet for manga. I get my anime fix from Youtube.
I'm a poor, cheap fool. Until I get a job, I'll be proud of it.

Hey don't worry about it, I watch the majority of my Anime nowadays on Youtube and also try watching stuff I haven't seen yet. Im not the type to just go out and buy some random anime dvd that of something i have not seen yet.
I've been buying from http://www.animeonestop.com/ -- they used to be part of Digital Eyes, recently they digital eyes merged with DVD planet http://www.dvdplanet.com .
Old-timers from the San Jose area might remember when Laserland was a cool place to buy anime.
When I buy anime I buy in bulk. Bestbuy (aka Electronic Wallmart) and Fry's dont stock what I want and there is no more Suncoast in my area. Japan Video in J-town San Fran is where I buy all my anime/J-movies DVDs now. I go to Chinatown for HK movies. woot!
