I don't encourage gambling, but maybe we can hold a (cosplay) poker tournament with play chips. You can redeem those chips for prizes. We could play with chips for no reason, but as me and my brother (Jyunishinsho) says, it's more fun when there's something on the line.
8) <-----my poker face
I will play in this if you need players.
I would totally play. I love poker!
oh man, i LOVE texas hold'em! this would be awesome. it would probably need to be something you sign up for, or at least participate in tournament style. i think it would be too much of a hassle if people came in and out as they pleased. black jack would be more of a game to do that with. but yes, texas hold'em! i'm sure a ton of people would be interested.
and if money is an issue, you could charge an entrance fee of something like $5 or $10
I'll play too, I'll give it a try
I'm interested in participating. I like Texas Hold'Em.
If anyone's interested in organizing the event, please contact
[email protected] asap and cc:me. I have several poker game variants from Cheapass Game's "Chief Herman's Next Big Thing" and if someone organizes a poker game based on these variants, I'll supply Cheapass Games prize support. The game needs a minimum of four players.

EDIT: Oh, of course. I'll bring along a deck of cards and chips during my Cheapass Game demos. Play a Cheapass poker variant in a game of at least four players and the winner gets a Cheapass prize!

If not Cedric, then I can extend a hand out. My friend is holding the Texas Holdem Tournament on his staffing hours in the Game Room. I can arrange prizes with the big cheese as well.
I'd love to play. Thing is is that i can't cosplay this year due to the fact of me being busy with my stupid chem class and WoW(yes WoW). So maybe have a separate table for non cosplay? or have the cosplay people mock the non cosplay people like me (i can take it) and the cosplay people could get points by breaking a poker face. Haha. I don't know. Just random. But hell hold-em would be fun.
I'd try but Poker happens to be my really weak category X_X
I'd be interesting in playing. But I'm not so sure about the cosplay thing, since I don't have a costume. =P
I guess you don't need a costume, as long as you have a poker face (or at least sunglasses).
My brother says that if this is gonna happen, it's gonna be at tabletop gaming. So forget tapping and attacking, it's all about flushes and bluffing.
8) "hm...pocket aces..."
Still, I don't encourage actual "gambling", but it's more fun that way. Maybe we need an ID check or something.
Sounds good, I'm game...I'll look you guys up when I'm off duty or in-between breaks. ^_^
eh...crap...ID...damn being 15 years old.
If an ID check happens, I'm probably out. only 17. Although I play for money on a regular basis. My older cousins go to games all the time and invite me to join in on the pot. Of course these are usually nice friendly games at people's houses, but you get my drift.
If we compete for prizes, and cuz real tournament hold-em is an elimination game, it's not considered gambling. I guess it might be ok...
I'll ask the Tabletop gaming staff if I can host it, is that alright?
ooogh lol my bf is a poker addict... I suck at poker, though -_- but I still want to play hehe :D
I was just bring my deck of cards for a fun unoffical game. But hey would be in for some poker.
Hmmm... Poker... One of the many things that I see on TV that looks easy, but when I try it at home I always end up getting decimated.. Much like all those Kung Fu movies on AZN Television, and those skateboarding videos, and mountain bike downhill competitions... You know... I think I'll stop right there...
But I will be there for poker, whether I am confident in my skills or not.

Which hours?
As for myself, Sunday starting at 12pm, as part of "Monster Horror Chiller Gamer", I'll run Cheapass Game's Lord of the Fries and Give Me the Brain. Alongside, I'll have the Cheapass poker variants available. Any game with four players (and lasting over an hour) will have a Cheapass prize!
I'd highly recommend y'all arranging a time to play a game. Best thing to do is someone and a friend to set a time in the afternoon (to avoid a conflict with Der Cosplay) and post it.

My friend plans to hold Texas Hold'em during ech of his shifts. If you look on the Gaming Schedule, he's listed as "Matt's Mirrth"... or something like that. He can probably hold the game since he's excellent with it.

I checked out the Gaming Schedule for Matt's Mirrth. Unfortunately, it's unlikely I attend his shifts for Texas Hold Em.
I have a poker set with chips and cards for up to six players. What is the policy if someone wants to host a Texas Hold Em in the Gaming Room and the staff person on duty is going to play something else? Are there free tables for walk-ins with other games to play?
I'm interested in meeting anime fans who like to play poker. In addition, I like to play with real people more often. Playing poker at partypoker.net gets boring.

Yep! Just come on in and sit yourself down!
My schedule should be Fri and Sat for Cheapass poker variants. A game with four or more players will have a prize.
EDIT: Check the game room schedule. Fri and Sat afternoons should be busy. Sunday and evenings should be fine.

Thanks for the information.
Good games to all!!
Loktera: You really had me worrying about a straight on Friday, but no leash this time! :D
Thanks to Nick for bringing me back into the game with multiple high card wins on Saturday. Congrats on the random win even though you were sposed to just fill the 8th slot. lol
I had a lotta fun playing on Sunday night... won me a ps2 game by clearing the table when I sat down ;) I would have loved to play more, but the bed was calling my name...
Soygirl, that was you who won the PS2 game. Awesome. I was the dealer. Congratulations on winning the game. By the way, we played Texas Hold’Em till 4:00 A.M., and the last game there were lots of great hands including two split pots.
I'm glad two staff members, and one of them who cosplayed from Guilty Gear, provided the prizes for that game and for the rest of the night. Thank you to the two staff people who helped out.
Very good idea!
*Revives topic*
I'm planning to host a Texas Hold'em Tournament. The change is I'm going to end way before 4:00 A.M. last year. The day I host is on Sunday night around 8:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M.
I know a few gaming staff and I can ask for prizes ^_^
The beauty of poker is that (like the popular quote of the WSOP) anyone can win. All you need is "a chip and a chair" and you have as good of a chance than anyone on winning.
It's not gambling, so no ID's or 21+ necessary.
If you're going to have a timed event, you could always have a cash-game type instead of elimination and a limit on buy-ins. Though no cash would be involved, there would still be 1st, 2nd, 3rd places, etc.
Hm... I MIGHT stop by this, provided I have no previous engagements...
I am in for texas holdem.
because i want to be the very best. like no one ever was. *rimshot*
but yeah, this sounds great.
Hahaha, old thread gets revived.
