I was pretty impressed with 2005's turn out. ( It's what got me into the anime . ) I was sitting around waiting for a Bleach thread but no one really opened one, so yeeeah.
Anyone going as Bleach characters again? I'm comfirmed on my Soi Fong cosplay. It'll be great if we have the same Don Kan'Onji again. He really caught my attention.

Yeah, same here, if my hair grows too long, I might have to go as Orihime in the school uniform. I'm positive on my Soi Fong cosplay and if I make the badge, possibly Hinamori.

I actually didn't see that many Bleach cosplayers last year. All I remember is.. Naruto :lol:.
There were a ton of Bleach cosplayers that turned out for the photo shoot. I think there were 4 Uraharas (Sandal Hat) at least. (I was one of them). I might cosplay him again, but I think I will make his sword this time. Or cosplay him from his captain days.
I'm planning on Kusajika Yachiru for next year. I might bring it Fanime.

i missed the Bleach gathering last year >< but im defiantely going to it this year. i'll be cosplaying as Renji - i copslayed as him at Anime Destiny 2 weeks ago, so i've got my cosplay all set (my brother is making me the sword ^^) so you can count on me being at the gathering ^^

I think if I was ever to do cosplay in my life, I'd show up with either Bleach people or Dead Leaves people. There is such an immense saturation of hip hop culture in these anime that I would love to be a part of it. However, I don't know that much about Bleach, and by default I'd go by Dead Leaves in a heartbeat. :b

I am contemplating going as Urahara; the problem lies in locating the hat as well as the usual expenses. More likely than not, it'll simply be little (pardon the pun) old Ed Elric (and perhaps a cameo of Dooku, or at least the cape).

I do believe she used the 3 yards for the entire costume. Though, she did cheat quite a bit in the process - not making a full kimono, etc. I remember she told me she was a little disappointed in her hakama - so to be safe, I'd go with 5 yards if you're about her height.

me and my friends are going to fanime and most of us are going as bleach characters. myself will be the best one of them all Yumichika and my friends will be another part of 11th division. one is going to be Kenpachi and the other if he's able to make it will be ikkaku! :D
It's looking more likely that if I don't go as Urahara, then I'll be seen as Hitsugaya. The assembling of the costume wouldn't be a problem; the wig and sword on the other hand would prove to be a most interesting challange...
in answer to questions about yardage- if you're making a short kimono on traditional lines, you should need about 4 yards total of 54 or 60 inch wide cloth(2 yards outside, 2 yards inside, and i'm estimating with quite a bit to spare)-4 strips each 15 inches wide and 40 or 50 inches long (length from your shoulder to your knee, plus some for hems and seams and whatnot) and 2 strips the right length to fold in half and make into sleeves, plus extra for the collar and the front placket things on the kimono.
a Haori is going to need about the same amount as a kimono.
Hakama, on the other hand, use ridiculous amounts of fabric because of the number of pleats they involve. I can't remember exactly how much i used, but i think it was around 5 or 6 yards.
hakama are actually bloody annoying to make right... -_-'' even if one does have experience in sewing. i can vouch that e-bogu.com carries REALLY nice ones (http://www.e-bogu.com/High_Quality_Light_weight_100_Cotton_Hakama_p/tak-ken-hak-hqlitecot-navy-all.htm) these ones are navy blue, but you could easily dye them with Procion dye from Dharma Trading (http://dharmatrading.com)
I also reccomend the Folkwear Asian Patterns (http://www.folkwear.com/asian.html), in particular #113, #129, and #159. ^____^
We'll be definately coming for Bleach gathering, I was so envious last year of all the shinigami, but didn't have costume yet.
So this year I'll be coming with my Chibi as Yachiru. Not sure about my cosplay yet. I have Byakuya costume, but not happy with the wig, if I find better wig by then, then I will wear it, if not, I'll be someone else. We'll hook up with Bankai_Devil 11th Division crew for some awesome Kenpachi/Yachiru pictures. Hehehehe....
I bought crap load of fabric for my and Yachiru shinigami outfit and I had TONS left. Hakama doesn't really take that much of the fabric, well, depending on the size. I did size 26, I believe, and used about 3 yards of fabric. Kimono didn't take much of the fabric either. I cheated and combined pattern of kimono and martial arts gi. So it worked.
anyone doing soi fong? i kinda want to do her but her costume seems a bit complicated at least for me
Planning on doing a Isshin cosplay (a short version of him, actually >_>) either in the suit he wore to Masaki's grave or if I can make that weird badge he had on in one of the recent manga chapters, I'll be him in shinigami form. Gotta grow a beard though. Might do the 7th division vice captain too if I get my sunglasses before the con.

Sorry to hear that you missed the gathering... I think the reason why you didn't see that many was because the Bleach get together was at the same time as Naruto. I shot the Bleach gathering instead of the Naruto.... check out my pics on my website and see some of the Bleach cospeeps ^^)

I plan on attending the gathering again this year... at least to shoot, but I'd luv to cosplay. I am 6' and I make more traditional Kimono's, Haori, Happy Coats, and Hakama. Both male and female... I estimated that I will need 16 yards give or take half a yard. That is for the whole costume. I can never remember the character's name that I want to cosplay so I will post that later..... *sits and thinks....

I did Hinamori last year at Fanime (and many people called me Rukia. =__=;;; ) and did Soi Fong at AX (chopped off all my hair, lmfao) and this year at Fanime06 I'll be cosplaying Shinigami Academy version Hinamori.
I just can't make up my mind, now can I? It's not set in stone yet, but the option to go in Ishida's unfirom (non-Shinigami or school) has opened up and I have a good feeling about this one.
I just bought my sewing pattern! I can't wait till it gets here and I can start sewing. Looks like it's going to be a lot of fabric; luckily it's mostly black. :D

thanks for holding us a spot ^^ i think the gathering should definately be on saturday so we dont conflict with the Naruto gathering, and i think the fountains is proably the best spot to meet. as for time, i think we should talk about it more to see when most people can make it.
Update on Hitsugaya: Okay, I was hoping to get the costume and wig done in one stroke, but it's not going to happen. So, I'll simply proceedto my back-up; I will have them for Fanime regardless, though.

I can't imagine any of the characters speaking english, and i fear it might head down the same path as Naruto and sell out to Hot Topic T_T

But at least it'll be on Adult Swim - the voices are a little better than those available on Cartoon Network, and we won't have to worry about the precious violence being cut out. And Hot Topic is really a good marketing idea - it's everywhere, and the people who frequent those stores generally find anime an attractant.
Or at least that's the case at my school - several of the 'rebels' and 'punks' and 'goths' and whatnot gravitate towards anime because it's not 'mainstream', as it is.

and i finished the byakuya hat retarded fan ... thing
nobody i've asked has been able to tell that i made it with cardboard, duct tape, wires, fake hair, and hot glue
lets just hope it doesnt shed, fall apart, or melt on my boyfriend... his head puts off alot of heatmaybe i'll put a just in case layer of duct tape at the bottom ne?
my mom thinks i carved it out of wood heh heh heh

My friend laura (she doesn't post on this forum but will be there at 2pm) is going as Soi Fong battle mode.
I need help, my friend Chirag doesn't know what he should dress up as. He wants to be a Bleach character, but he wants a simple costume to make. AKA I'll be making it for him, any suggestions?

Kasso- it mostly depends on if people have other costumes or not. I have seen people do the same character all weekend. I, however, have 3 other costumes I want to wear, so I'm only doing Hinamori Saturday because that's the day we have our gathering. As for a fast costume, what about a Menos? It would be a black sheet and a white mask, and that's pretty much it.

I normally try to avoid doing the same char as others, ever since a friend of mine got the GLARE OF DEATH from another cosplayer for doing it. ;.; But I think it's fun to pose with others! ^_^
I hope to know pretty soon which I'll end up doing: kinda depends on if a friend decides to do Nemu to accompany me. :) Crossing my fingers on my ability to coax, BWA HA HA HA.

i used balsa wood to make the shikai of Zabimaru for my Renji cosplay. its light so it wont be too hard to carry around, but its sturdy ^^.
Im using MDF board to make the shikai form of Shunsui's swords. I have a bus ride and some rowdy roomates for the hotel so I don't want ot try balsa wood
hm... ok sounds good. THx for the tips. yea theres not much i can do for byakuya's shikai with the missing blade, so we decided to make the entired thing outta wood. So no blade but sheeth and hilt all made outta wood. Its gonna be tough but, making stuff is half the fun. BTW are any of you planning to be there on sunday?

I'll be there Sunday, but like many others not cosplaying Bleach. Sunday I'll be hanging out with the HP cosplayers in my Gryffindor robes.

Shikai forms? What'd you use for the rope on Ukitake's, out of curiosity? :)
right now i'm waiting for the paint to dry, but they are the shikai forms and i'll probably just end up using a nice long pieceof red cloth for the rope and i'm going to make the 5 seals that are supposed to be on it.

This idea came to be like 5 days ago, and due to finals i remembered it till now. Its the idea for the ultimate Orihime cosplay or well any other schoolgirl from BLEACH. Do the regular cosplay and all but attach a Kon plushie to the chest so it looks like hes always snuggling there.
Hahah just a thought.

@Redwood: Yeah, I'll be dressed Saturday pretty much all day (the Bleach gathering is Saturday, right?). I look forward to meeting you there for some yummy shounen-ai cosplay pictures^^.
@Senritsu: Yeah, that was us! We were the Byakuya and Renji from the Cherry Blossom festival. This time around, I'll have a wig, complete with those annoying kensaikan and everything.
I need to edit Byakuya's gloves and maybe make his sword (probably won't have enough time for that, though), but I'm pretty much set with my Bleach cosplay. It's just my Kakashi outfit that needs finishing...>>;

Ah, yeah. Sometimes it sucks to have to drop stuff, but time gets in the way. there's never enough of it to get everything done! I do resolve to never be working on anything once I arrive, though-- I know people do, and that just boggles me. XD Too much con-stress.

ok so apparently Bleach is going to be shown at fanime - what day i am not sure. but i think it would be kinda cool if before or after the gathering we could get all the Bleach cosplayers into that screening room, where ever it is, and watch it together :D what do you guys think?

I've got a short vid that i took on an old camera. Anybody know how to transfer stuff from Hi-8 tapes to computer?
you transfer hi-8 tapes with a camcorder with a firewire/usb port and some software...usually the install disk that came with the camcorder, or windows movie maker if you're not planning anything difficult.
Anyways. anyone see a yachiru with violent pink hair? It was me and my sisters never took pictures of me! I showed up near the end of the gathering so I got in like 2 pictures there. One of them kon was attacking me from behind.
