International Anime Distribution seeks to open a pay-per-download service a-la iTunes for anime fansubs. They are currently attempting to gain legal right from the anime producers to sell legal fansubs right after their airing in Japan. They are also currently sending an open invitation to fansub groups who wish to fansub professionally. They've opened up a main site (http://animedist.com/) and a sales portal (http://subs4sale.com/).
Hi Tsubasa, it's been a while.
With the bittorrent access open to all people, this is great way to advertise/taste anime without that guilty fansub aftertaste. However, given that bittorrent itself can be utilized after buying 1 episode, I'd say its good premise, but they'd better not hope for a cash cow over this.
Fansubs already are a free source of adverts; and it doesn't cost a penny. The industry has gotten significantly better just due to the works of fansubbers. In a way its a waste, yet it also is a good move.
