Title: What would you change in an anime to go the way you wanted?
Post by: Darryl Mendoza on November 24, 2005, 01:35:32 PM
I was wondering if anyone had an anime they liked and thought that one part screwed with the whole series and wanted to change the series to go their way. Their were so many animes and mangas that I thought something should have went a certain way. Do you ever have that type of feeling? Like when your favorite character dies or does something that made you think like WTF?! I personally thought Bleach shouldn't have had Ichigo beaten so easily by Rukia's brother.

Trinity Blood's ending was too open ended, The End of Eva messed up my mind in a good way and the ending to Madlax made  me go: キタ━━━━━━(゚∀゚)━━━━━━ !!!!! in a bad way. XD

There is no such thing as

Quote from: RyuHayabusaキタ━━━━━━(゚∀゚)━━━━━━ !!!!! in a bad way.

Look at the happy face he's got. :D It's not anything bad. (p.s.: slow down with the kaomoji, Ryu.)

The AIR movie needs more Minagi, Michiru, and Kano.

I'd give Manaka from Ichigo 100% balls.

That way aya doesn't have to suffer.

Either that, have all the girls hate him than love him.

I'd give Yamato a beating after he rejected Honoka.

I'd offer the blood of Christ to Hellsing and see if it matched what the vampires were on. (I like Hellsing though.)

I'd make Shinji go bathe in a hot tub of lard.

I'd give DBZ a much needed make over.

I'd give FLCL a narrator to explain what the $#@* is going on (shows still fun to watch thou).

Isn't that a euphemism for "frying"?

I'd make Samurai Deeper Kyo anime have more action, more humor, more gore, and loyal to the manga. I was very very disappointed in the entire series in general.

YES! Someone who understands!

Anway, to add to this topic, I'd like to see Chloe or Yurika from Noir carry big ass swords and see if they can still sneak by like James Bond. I dunno, but I really want to see this happening...in a parody. I just don't see assasins taking swords up. Its contradicting the whole idea of a silent kill...  To show my concern, I provide you with my intepretation of Noir with swords.

"Did you hear that, Bob?"
"No, it must be your imagination go to sleep."
"Wait, aren't we supposed to be guarding the entrance?"
"Who cares? Those Noir are going to kill us anyway."
"You're right! Wait..."
Meanwhile, back in the bushes.
"Chloe...Chloe!" whispered Yurika.
"What is it?" answered Chloe.
"I don't think we should carry big swords anymore."
"Nonsense! The fans want it."
"But they also wanted a karaoke episode and panty shots!"
"Thats another matter..."
"They...uh...wanted Athena to cut her hair."
"Thats another matter."
"You're pretty loyal...So why are we only carrying swords?"
"I left my knife packet at home."

Love Hina: Id have Naru die and have Keitaro hook up with Motoko.

Tenjho Tenge: Put it so that there was only two episodes of flashbacks. God they went on forever.

FLCL: Have Naota pimp slap Haruko at the end instead of kiss her.

Saikano: Cure Chise.

Evangelion: Nobody dies, everyone forgets their negative ways and end it with an OVA of everyone going on a picnic. *Lil John*Yeah!*Lil John*

WAY more episodes needed for Dokuro-Chan.
Like OniCourse, I'd go for a better SDK.
Negima! needs better animation.

I may have more rants, but later. I just came home from school...;_;

...am I the only one who actually liked the ending of Kimi ga Nozomu Eien?  I thought it was well done that Mitsuki and Takayuki got together.  I believe it showed that everyone was mature enough to move on and start living their lives again, instead of being trapped within past memories.

Anyways, one major gripe I have would be with the Melody of Oblivion.  They had a pretty good plot set up for the series, however, things rapidly went downhill near the end.  I have tried blocked this series from memory since I felt it ended horribly; but as an example, one of the things that siginfied that it went down the crapper was when they explained that the Melos warriors could fight in the vast vaccum of space protected by a rub-on salve for a limited amount of time.  Then after said introduction of plot item, there would be many scenes which degenerated into fanservice by showing suggestive applications of said salve over the female warriors' bodies as well as having scenes showing the silhouettes of said female warriors applying the salve to the male warrior.

Other examples include the loss of coherence of plot, absurd moments (eg. having the good guys and bad guys placed in what appeared to be in a karaoke room, during a battle), and very strange fanservice (eg. having a farm where the "livestock" were women wearing cow-patterened bikinis and having said "livestock" being milked...don't ask...).

Blame that on the writer. He's also the one who wrote Utena and he loves doing all the symbolism. I also didn't like MoO, despite that it had Shinya Hasegawa(Utena) as character designer. It wasn't that great of a series.

Akira
Gantz
Love Hina
just to name a few.

The X movie needs to not be a steaming pile of turd.  If you ever read the manga, the movie will make you gouge out your own eyes then stick your head into a microwave.

I just finished reading the conclusion to the manga.  I'll side with you on the Junpei bit.  The ending left me in a big "I want to punch him in the face" mood.  Quite possibly the most disappointing ending in recent memory.

With Berserk, I would either A) continue the story along with the everlasting manga, or B) Make it so I did not feel as if Obi-Wan totally pwns Leia, Luke and Han by turning to the Dark Side.  When I saw that, I was like, "OK, so now the good guy is gonna put down the pipe and pick up the pwn, right?  LAST EP?  FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWKKKKKKK!!!!!"

I am surprised no one has mentioned the Escaflowne movie.  I keep hearing that it is so bad that you want to kill yourself and everyone in the theater to put all out of their misery.  I myself have never seen it based on these people, most of whom are now blind and deaf, having Oedipus'd their eyes and Van Gogh'd their ears during the viewing.

I ask them for more details, and they're like "WHAT???  WHO SAID THAT?  HELLO?"

Note to any producers reading this considering a "Special Edition" of your work:  If you /are/ going to start screwing with your anime, keep the following in mind:

I agree, after what I've been reading on manga, what hell did happen after the Shisho saga, it just changed out if no where compare to the manga.

Totally agree. It puzzles me after reading the manga why the anime didn't follow the same path. I hardly remember what happened after the Shishio saga in the tv series.

Social Justice/Anti-War/Peace-Reflective Storytelling:
Add hip hop to enhance a story that's already a figurative tale of the People.

Suck anime:
Add hip hop so you have something to shake your tooty booty to when you have a BBQ party and want some primary colors on the tv but don't want to engage people too much in what's on the screen.

In the next Shinichiro Watanabe creation:
Add the Beastie Boys.

The ending to the Tsukihime TV series is based on the true ending to the game.  It's the scenario that's supposed to happen when you clear all the endings for each character.  I actually never made it that far cause each girl has two to three endings.  Perhaps after Mirror Moon releases their translation patch.
