I was just wondering who everyone's best character for the game is. Mine is Marth because he happens to be a balance of power and speed. I "would" use Roy, but hes too slow. Link is the guy I started off with, but he changed alot since Super Smash Bros for the N64, so I couldn't get used to him anymore.
At present, Luigi. He can recover quickly and/or over great distances...if you're lucky enough.
I'm a Zelda player. Preferrably Zelda in Zelda form. I've come to realize that this is a horrible disadvantage in 1-on-1 though, so I occasionally switch to Sheik. Only when I feel like I can't compete otherwise though; such as when I'm playing my friend's Fox.
Aside from Zelda, my secondary is Pichu. I did it for the challenge and kicks, but I'm not too bad with him now.
Note that I'm not a competitive level Smash Bros. player. Nor do I intend to put the time into it. I personally believe it to be a party game, not worth my time investment for serious play. I'll leave that to the competitive Smash Bros. scene. I'll spend my time on my Soul Caliburs, Samurai Spirits, Melty Bloods, Eternal Fighter Zeros, and King of Fighters, thank you very much.
For some reason, I've always been good with Samus. In the N64 version I went through a lot of phases. Mario, Kirby, etc.
Even though I said I used Marth, I sometimes use Samus. I understand you Absolute0, Samus is a great character. Shes my backup in case someone already chose Marth and Samus just has this thing where she can just kick @$$!
Marth all the way baby. lol, i call him Darth Marth when i put him in his black armor. :) good ol' days.
Captain Falcon, when I feel full of myself,
Falco, if I want to be cheap,
Gannondorf, mainly for tournaments and
Link, just my favorite character.
1) Yoshi - Just 'cause no one can utilize his uber greatness.
2) Falco - He's just bluuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuue~
3) Luigi - His karate skillz RAWKS~

Captain Falcon-Pink outfit. AKA Captain Love.
My best character. Power and speed put together in a nice outfit. I won an unofficial tourny with him last year. So, we'll see how it goes this year. ^_^

I used to use Jigglypuff but now that her sleep move is considerably less-chainable than in the N64 version, I've stopped.
I love PK rushes with Ness. And I'm handy with the bat.

Generally, my best is Falco, though sometimes I'm pretty competetive with Jigglypuff. But I've played so little in the past year or so...
Where are the Mario-men? And I don't mean Dr. Mario, I mean the original and greatest plumber ever to jump out of green pipes Mario.
For me it goes: Mario, Ice Climbers and Fox. After that I pretty much play evenly with everyone else (in other words, not all that great).

I'd say my best are:
All around: Marth; he's great for crowd control in melee, and is equally awesome in 1-v-1. I'd prolly pick him for a 4-player free-for-all tourney.
1-v-1: Shiek; if I know I'm going 1-v-1 I'll pick Shiek. Shiek thrives on juggling combos, which is difficult to do in 4-player matches, where you're constantly being assulted by random people XD.
Others: Captain Falcon (pink!) Nothing like winning with Pink Falcon... aha. And even losing with him is hilarious. His only downfall is that he seems to be suicide-prone if you're not careful with his weight....
Link: Boomerang buddy has saved me from a grab more than once... and there are so many ways to recover with Link... he's one of the best characters in the game, IMHO...
either young link or Roy either are super pwnage, roy has the strong atacks and young link can use a variety of weapons and inprovise on the situation.

Link and Falco i'm good at but Fox i'm still learning... =].... i've seen videos of Fox and i wanan get better with him =D
although i rarely play this game, i choose pikachu when i do because hes who i started using on SSB (64)

3.Kirby-i used him a lot more on the N64 version
4.Roy-i just like his triple jump :D

Second Best - Probably Marth
Third Best - Somewhere inbetween Pikachu and fox

I like young link so much just cause of his certain gravity, which mind you is barely different, but I have a smooth speed with him that I don't get quite as easily as the other characters that I like to play with.

They have the same moves!! The difference is that Captain Falco is more of a lighter and faster kind of guy, ESPECIALLY with movement. Ganandworf is the opposite he's a slower but more armored, not to mention a heavier hitter.
But who is higher on the tier lists, CF or Gannondorf?
Ganondorf: High Damaging attacks, Range, Good recovery, Uair Spike
Captain Falcon: Combos better, Faster, Falls Faster, has the Knee
Anyways Captain Falcon has the upper hand on Ganondorf if I remember correctly and I know though that he is higher on the tier list then ganondorf

Well captain falcon is also being played a little differently with a lot more emphasis on throwing, while ganon is being used more with normal moves with a few specails.
I wasn't saying there were exactly the same, but they are rather similar.

It's weird, I played Yoshi exclusively on the N64 but I can't seem to do anything with him on the 'Cube. So my top three are Pikachu, Peach (bizarre, I know), and Marth.
The tourney sounds like fun but I'd probably get my butt handed to me. :lol:

really the only thing slightly similar between cf and dorf are their animations...
CF's side B in the air is a spike, dorf's isnt...dorf's downB in the air is a spike, cf's isnt...
the speeds and durations of all their moves are different....different hitbox sizes....even different graphical effect
