* DrumMania V
* GuitarMania V
* Beatmania III
* Pop n Music Anime version
Gun Games:
*Time Crisis 3
* Ghost Squad
* Point Blank
Fighting Games:
* Guilty Gear XX Slash
* Soul Calibur 3 (if release by then)
* King of Fighters XI
* Marvel vs. Capcom 2
* Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection
* Street Fighter 3:3rd Strike

* 2 players - Initial D 3

Other:

* Metal Slug 5
The question in the POLL is on a scale of one to five, how would you rate this array of games?
Additionally, what comments do you have about the games offered?
Thanks,
Craige...

GRRrrrrrr; There's no Keyboardmania!!!
Very fine list.
I approve. I'll primarily be hitting up SCIII and KoF XI. Maybe Slash and DR if I decide to take them any more seriously.
What's Chocolate Factory? Is it like that crane game at the arcade entrance at SJSU? (for those who know about it)
Either way, I can't wait to try SuperNOVA! I'm probably going to play it around midnight or later cuz I bet there's gonna be a LONG line to play it. It's the U.S. premiere of it, right?
Nice mixup of games, wish we could get a IIDX in there though.
Everything there is great except for one thing.
The Dance Maniax machine was pretty darn popular last year. A return of it would be nice.

Thanks for getting the air hockey table, Craige. :)
Edit: Would this happen to be one of the full-sized dynamo tables?

I agree since thats the only music game I do... at this moment.
Though I approve of SCIII and KOF XI. ^.^b

Yes, but if BMIII is in fact BMIII THE FINAL, I'm up for some complete five-key action.
Bring your floppies to track stats at Fanime. >D

This whole list is sufficiently bemanigasmic, but lacks DanceManiaX and ParaParaParadise. Pop'n Music Animelo will attract a lot of people, as welll as GFdm, but I concur with deepbluevibes -- V2 would be appreciated. As said before, very solid selection.
Quote from: PassingTheBuckGun Games:
*Time Crisis 3

Time Crisis 3 and Ghost Squad are
very solid staples to the genre, and Point Blank's a very good choice for casual on-lookers. However, there's a lack of House of the Dead.

A wide array of fighters, most at their latest incarnation -- I see no problems here. :3

This would be perfect if not for lack of Mario Kart Arcade GP.

Mmm, chocolate. ^_^b

* Air Hockey
Would you consider getting two tables? There's probably going to be a lot of people playing this...other than that, WOOHOO AIR HOCKEY.
Voted 4. With certain machines (DMX/PPP/MK AC GP) and certain upgrades (GFdm V2 and IIDX in place of III), the arcade's going to suck more of my money up than the dealer's hall.
Well, I'm pleased with an updated list of games for fanime this year. But it would've been cool to get the following:
GF&DM V2: Better working machine, and readily available at SVGL. You used SVGL's machines last year, why switch now?
Pop'n Music 8 or above: Where the heck did you get anime version? As cool as it is, I guarantee anyone who's played pop'n music at least a fair amount will get bored. More importantly though, how about a newer mix with more challenging songs?
ParaPara Paradise: I know someone else wants this out there. Speak up now!
BM:III is a step up from last year's ghetto 5key, I readily except it, because we all know the only nearby IIDX machine has the timing issues from hell.

Pop'n Music: The majority of the people who go to the con haven't played it. Think of Animelo as a stepping stone to higher ground, much like Beatmania US...:3
ParaParaParadise: I already did. Look above you.
Airhockey?! Hellsyeah!
Having Supernova there WILL be awesome, but as Otakuya said, yeah, I bet the lines are going to be extreme... (pun not intended). Hmm, no plans to have a second DDR machine again this year? Given how massive some of the waits were for the Extreme machine last year, it might relieve some of the tension.

DDR, 3rd Strike. Yes. I am pleased :D
Though, the Pop'n Animelo makes me sad. It's trash really, but ah well. All I really wanted was 3rd Strike and the random 3am game of DDR.
Everything Khaistyle is true.
GF/DM V is ok but V2 would have been loads better.
And Pop'n Music Animelo is just, bad.
Get SVGL's machines again, please.

If they're not using SVGL, you should stay quiet.
You should note that it does say IF IT RELEASES BY FANIME. And since Supernova is a
global release with North America up first, the arcade will most likely have two of these cabs around.

Sure, why not? If I bought the game and rented it out to Fanime, then theoretically:
1. It would be available 24 hours for revenue and
2. I wouldn't be liable if it got trashed.
No worries about logistics, liability, staffing, noise, etc... pure profit.
(removed per privacy policy)
Where do you think Craige got that list from? -.- If the arcade says they're going to be able to get it, they're not fooling around. They could have as easily not lent *any* games to us.
And if I recall correctly, the contractor for the Fanime arcades this year isn't Golfland, but rather that OnCampus Entertainment company, which specializes in outsourcing their arcade machines to make a profit.

YES! finally! i've been pushing for that company for like a year. they used to provide games for Evolution, the U.S. Street Fighter Championship tournament. If they can provide games for Evo, then providing games for an anime convention should be a piece of cake for them.
No House of the Dead, but there is redemption value in Ghost Squad (My personal favorite in the game in the genre)
Ooh! The music game section is doin' good! I might have to try Pop'n or something!

Okay, I should have been watching the threads a little closer and that's my mistake...
I do have a contract with the company supplying the games and it's not wise, business-wise, to piss off the customer by promising one thing and dropping off something completely else.
This is our first year test marketing this company and the recommandation for them came from the BOD and I'm the guy on the front line who has to make it happen.
If I get egg on my face, you think I want to use them again? As Homer would say "DUH". No!
So, in three weeks, the machine will be showing up at the Convention Center and I will have my check list. Everyone else will be able to start playing on them on Thursday night and I'm planning on pulling the plugs on Monday at 6:00pm.
After that point, we are all back on the BB, commenting on what was your impressions were of the machines and their support staff.
Deal?
Craige...
It's disappointing that Golfland isn't providing the arcade games this year. They provided a very good selection last year. I was hoping that they would provide games for this year's, then there would be a high chance they would bring Keyboardmania 3rd Mix and Pop'n Music 8.
"Music Games:
* 2pcs-Dance Dance Revolution Supernova (if released, otherwise Extreme)
* DrumMania V
* GuitarMania V
* Beatmania III
* Pop n Music Anime version"
I'd really like to see Keyboardmania at this year's Fanime. I played it quite a bit at last year's ($60+?). It also got a lot of attention from people who had never seen it before.
It's good that it looks like there's going to be at least A Pop'n Music game. 8 or later would be much better though, because they have much more songs to choose from and also include anime songs. The Anime versions have very small, limited song lists.

To bring your own stool youd be hardcore like KhaiStyle but they really should provide them. As long as they have 3S and CvS2 Ill be content.

Not bad! not bad! Glad to see supernova there. And we could have some mad fun with air hockeyXD
And out of the way! I'll be playing metal slug for a while :O
Last year, I recall, all the fighting game machines required 2 coins to play...Does that seem whack to anyone? Everywhere else is 1 coin. Kinda ruins the atmosphere. I even bet a lot of people don't want to pay 2 coins just to get whooped including myself. Just wanted to let you guys know.

LOL Watch out now! Its two coins depending on the Vendor, why last year they had it at two Ill never know since they were GL machines then but this year the vendor is different so maybe the prices will be too? If you dont feel like spending too much on the arcade cabs there is always the console room, which Ill probably be for a little bit now and again. Lets do this.

Quote from: deepbluevibes(removed per privacy policy)
Lol...we are lucky then ^_^. The vendor is the same as the one supplying SJSU with their cabinets as HentaiTentacleDemon mentioned. All SJSU's cabs are 1 coin each except the new releases such as KOF XI, which is still 2 right now, I think.

I could never understand how Melty Blood became so popular, I always thought it was way too simplistic a fighter but maybe for that reason it became so popular. Heres looking forward to some good gaming this year while at con.

Seconded. Melty blood is far from simple, though I agree it looks a bit simple. Each different ftg takes on a different style which will produce a different gameplay requiring different tactics for optimum effect. melty blood might not have quite as many options, and a buttery combo system, but it's more than a game of rock paper sissors. You should try out the PC version yourself. If you ask me, it's one of the more fun single player fighting games. probably wasted more time on it than I did with garou.

I play Melty Blood a fair amount, but even I have to admit that it is indeed something of a simplistic fighter. You can devote a lot to it to play at the advanced level, but truth be told, your time is probably better spent on the above mentioned MotW. Which isn't to say that MB isn't a bad fighter. I do find it pretty fun to play. It's just not the deepest thing ever. If I want to bust out a deep doujin fighter, I'll load up Eternal Fighter Zero.

Quote from: deepbluevibes(removed per privacy policy)
I resent that statement because I abhor the MvC series. I would say Melty = GG. To reinforce that, the MB system even incorporates some very GG-esque elements. It lacks the ever important RC system though.

My impression was that Melty Blood's main attraction was the Tsukhime characters. I'm not really sure though.
Quote from: mDuo13My impression was that Melty Blood's main attraction was the Tsukhime characters. I'm not really sure though.
You would be correct most of the time, but there is a solid fighting engine in there somewhere and I've seen people who know nothing of the series pick it up and enjoy it.
SuperNOVA woulda been cool :(
Beatmania IIDX (hopefully Distorted or Happy sky) still has yet to show itself at a fanime
Why can't we get a V2 for Drummania or Guitar Freaks?
I know In The Groove 1 and 2 can be ungodly hard but they DO have an easy mode, so why don't we have a machine of it?
Also, having a whole row of DDR machines would be cool :P

I agree, MB is nothing like MvC and far more similar to GG. I really find no point in comparing combo systems: No matter what game it is, combos are based off memorization and accuracy, regardless of whether it is KOF or MVC. Combo system may add competition to the game in the same sense that they have DDR competitions. The heart of the game lies in initiating these combos, and not the combos themselves. IN this sense, Melty blood can be just as deep as any other ftg. Other elements like seal add more depth to the game as well.
btw, did someone say garou. Anyone wanna play :D?

When I left Exhibit Hall 3, the DDR machines were like placed so close to each other. I hope it'll be spread out by tomorrow, since both DDR machines and Beatmania 7th Mix will like just cancel each other out if they're all bunched up.
Shouldn't arcades be sharing room with E-Gaming? Therefore, wouldn't they have to move it for today?
