Since it's been a week (and two days) since the first ep got released, I suppose some people have looked into the series. Oh, and since I forgot to make one for Fate (which I'm also horribly behind on XDDD), I suppose I might as well start now with Utawarerumono.

For those who've played the AVG, please keep spoilers to a minimum.
I thought the first episode was rather slow, but that's to be expected for a 26-episode series. As such, I expect the pacing to remain constant, or at least build up as it passes on.
The animation's fluid, except in certain parts (see: rain at the altar). Voiceacting is pretty awesome, and characters are...well, depends on the character. For example, Eruru's cute, but Nuwangi is a total dick, and I'll have to wait a bit until the protagonist's traits show a bit more.
It's a good start to the series, and I can't wait for episode two (hurry up hurry up hurry up YesY XD). Oh, and as an afterthought, I like the OP enough to rip it to my MP3 player. <3
Leaf <3.
Utawarerumono is one of my top series this season. I've never played the game, but I've known about it for a long time and have gannered some information about it over the years.
If no one has made the connection yet, Aruru's my favorite character. She was even on my Fanime KoF '06 team. Then I suppose Touka and Eruru.
Yuzuki Ryoka as Eruru is great, but when she talks, I can't shake "Shamal" out of my head. ^^; Sawashiro Miyuki as Aruru should be awesome. She's only said two words as of the first episode though. XD;
And the OP is plain yummy. Suara is growing on me. I love Leaf singers. Although I doubt I'll like her more than Nakayama Arisa.
I liked the 1st episode. It has an interesting plot. ^.^ It has quite some intrigue going with the bull-mask man. >.< He's so noble too....
It wasn't too slow for me, it felt right but I haven't played the game so.... yeah. >.> It looks like the series will be great. XD
A major note: Eruru is so ~cute!~ .::squee::. Especially when she's embarassed and the animation for her ears are awesome. X3
I like her name. Its awesome how it just rolls like that. ^.^
Until I see more of the other characters, Eruru will be my fave of the series. :3
I should watch it, just to see what the hoopla is all about. I have it on my comp, it's that I've been watching older stuff 1st along with Harumi lol XD Looks interesting though.

Yeah, she's my current fave, too. XD Though I'll have to wait until I see Aruru to confirm which of the two sisters I like better. (I mean, if Aruru has her own fandisc, then there's gotta be
something going on...)
Quote from: SpiritsnareThough I'll have to wait until I see Aruru to confirm which of the two sisters I like better. (I mean, if Aruru has her own fandisc, then there's gotta be something going on...)
More than anything else, Aruru was chosen for the fandisc because of her name. Leaf likes pun-y names for its fandiscs. Thus Aruru to Asobo! (Lets play with Aruru!) and Inagawa de Ikou! (Lets go with Inagawa!). And on that note, let me just say that the cover image for Aruru to Asobo! is easily one of my favorite illustrations by my favorite illustrator: Mitsumi Misato. Here (http://tsubasa.nu/images/desktop120304.jpg) it was on my desktop about a year and a half ago. XD
Just watched episode 2. Some more Aruru love. Banzai!
Spoilers are ROT13d. For your convenience, spoilers have been linked to the ROT13 decoding page.Quote from: TsubasaSome more Aruru love. Banzai!
The whole thing with Neheh'f 'onol' (http://www.rot13.com) was just plain cute. XDDD I'm growing to like her.
Unxhbeb vf dhvgr gur zna bs jbeqf; ur pbaivaprf jubyr gbjaf gb npprcg uvf cynaf, rira pbafvqrevat ubj enqvpnyyl qvssrerag sebz gur bofreinoyr abez gurl ner. (http://www.rot13.com) It's quite fascinating.
The pacing is picking up a bit; this episode had some nice action sequences that aren't too drawn out. Voiceacting continues to be stellar. Oh, and drunken Teoro for the win.
Also: In trying to share my like for the series, I described the series to my friend as a nice, mellow candy that melts in your mouth slowly but smoothly. I need more of this candy. XD
I think I see what you guys like about aruru. ^.^ But I'll keep Eruru as my fave for now. XP
I watched it and it seems like a Japanese Fantasy anime, since they cover were-persons and magical beings and stuff. I'm pretty intrigued, so I will keep watching. Hopefully, it won't suck.
Eruru's reaction to her tail being stroked = cutest reaction ever
Come to think of, how is a tail-stroke supposed to feel like? Does it tickle, or is it just a norm found to be as offensive as groping someone on the train? The world may never know...
i caught the first episode of this series. im not really a big fan of the whole fanasy genre myself, so...*braces for impact*, it pretty much seemed to me as a backwards inuyasha.
who said that?
8-[
(i know that's a pretty shallow review, but...yeah. I'm just speaking from a "pointless comedy lover's" point of view)
Heheheh, I'm quite the fan of pointless humor myself. I don't blame you. ^^;
Here's my episode summaries, a line each:
Episode 2: More Aruru love. <3
Episode 3: Picks up a bit, Yuzuha love in the middle, Aruru love at the end, plus more action to boot.
Episode 4: Very, very sad, but speeds up quite a bit; y helo thar, turning point.
Damn Leaf has to make perfect cliffhangers. :(
And people come to understand the awesome that is Aruru. I'm waiting for Touka to get introduced. Karla would be cool too.
^^''
I've downloaded the first and second episodes, but I haven't had muh time to watch them... *Sigh*I am just waiting for this semester to be over so I can sit in my room and watch Anime until my eyes bleed..
I did manage to watch up until the tail stroking part of the first episode, and I really want to cosplay as that guy in the mask...
Just wait until episode two, when you see his weapon of choice.
So badass. <3
The OP makes me expect awesomeness out of Aruru. She and her kitty in the OP remind me of the Wolf-Riders in ElfQuest. XD
You know, speaking of Aruru and Mukuru...episode five just got released.
It's the insta-join-Aruru-fanclub episode. That's how great it is. XD
Lol. Aruru was so cute... And that cat grows so fast. O.O Awesome episode. XD
I still won't decide between them. Don't try to make me.... I might just choose the cat. XP
So far, I'm liking this series. I like the fact that it doesn't seem to be this one-sided thing about a love triangle or whatever, but about the village and it's people. It's definitely not something that I see everyday, and I like Utawarerumono's uniqueness in that
Quote from: SpiritsnareCome to think of, how is a tail-stroke supposed to feel like? Does it tickle, or is it just a norm found to be as offensive as groping someone on the train? The world may never know...
You know... Judging by Erruru's reaction... She seemed to enjoy it a little...
If you guys Want I can Burn a Copy of the Game for anyone who ask me. Ill bring them to the Gattering on Friday or Saterday? which was it Fri or Sat? Its so far a great game, its not just Click click and you get Pic's its a RPG of sorts.
And Note its is a Hentai game. but im 6 hours into it and realy not much H at all so far. I like it. " It is not in English"
The anime I love and wish to find where to DL the music OP , ED ect.... any ideas?
::EDIT::
Ok so far one copy for Spiritsnare.
I found out Now i have only One copy left .... Have some problems now with burnner, I burned 2 dvd copys to pass out, afew weeks ago. so ill have to use those. So Spiritsnre gets one and that leaves one more for someone.
Copy for me, please. <3 I want to see this in action.
And Karla/Karura is introduced. The next episode preview pictures Touka. The cast is rounding out. Wii~.
Karura is an A+ character for me. Now that Touka is coming onto the scene, I pretty much have my two favorite characters of Utwarerumono.
Not sure why I like them. Maybe because of that atmosphere of strength and volition. Maybe also because they know a bit of pain behind thos bodies of steel. Well, anyway, after Fate/Stay Night is done and over (though I'm bothered that it nears the ending) I'm totally for Utawarerumono...stuff.
Double posting for the sake of a *bump*.
Episode 12 is out and has a fight scene between my two favorite characters. Ouch?
Seems that the real name to Hakuoro...
Quoteis Rak-shine
Wooooooo. I wonder what he did in the past besides...
QuoteKilling his children and his wife
Karura wins, if only for the fact that she's a bazillion times stronger than the men. XD
I LOVE ERURU. D< RAWR.
Episode 13 has been released. I have one picture that explains how I feel about the Shikeripetim dude's laugh:

I concur.
Episode 14 is now out, now with more Yue cackle in every bite x.x
That, and if my eyes are working correctly, the quality of the animation has dropped considerably in certain places, such as in this example:
(https://forums.fanime.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg93.imageshack.us%2Fimg93%2F4778%2Fuglynm3.png&hash=907c1487a260b65e22711efa6af83addd3c6419b) (http://imageshack.us)
When the animation is comparable to past episodes, it tends to be a bit blurry or "washed", like an old 1990's anime. However, most of the content past cue 14:50 is pretty freaking awesome (very slick action scenes), but they had to compromise quite a bit.
What crappened? ;_; Utawarerumono was consistently freaking gorgeous up until now...
I don't think it's any incredibly monumental drop in animation quality. There was an overall change in art direction though. I'm sure that can be attributed to a change in art director for the episode or something.
Utawarerumono stays that way for its US release. (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/article.php?id=9681)
Lovely, lovely work, ADV.
Banzai! XD
US title is "Shadow remnant warriors" I believe =)
*cringe cringe*. What happened to subtlety?
I like how the plot was so richly complex ^_^

Look up two posts from yours. XD;
I watched the first couple of episodes. Taciturnical and short haired girls are moe for me, hence Aruruu is the best IMO. And boy the OP is catchy. I dunno who subbed it, but the font for the opening is hecka cool. Moreover, it seems to me like this anime is set in Earth itself, within a tribal population that existed like maybe 4oo-ish years ago in one of the then unexplored continents. It's good, I like it. Will watch more.
Pssssst. Amol, you have a ginormous sig.
Can you please cut it down some? ^^;

If anyone's wondering, the initial setting for Utawarerumono is heavily influenced by Ainu: a people indigenous to primarily northern parts of Japan. A couple (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ainu_people) resources (http://www.ainu-museum.or.jp/english/english.html) about the Ainu.
On that note, there's often argument about how the two main girls' names should be spelled. By the official Ainu romanization scheme it should be "Eruruw" and "Aruruw." Straight phonetic romanization by katakana would yield "Eruru" and "Aruru" though. I use the latter, but I see strong reasons for the former.
Also, in addition:
Quote from: TsubasaStraight phonetic romanization by katakana would yield "Eruru" and "Aruru" though.
I romanized their names with two u's, personally:
ã,¢ãƒ«ãƒ«ã,¥
a ru ru u
ã,¨ãƒ«ãƒ«ã,¥
e ru ru u
However, the extra small ã,¥ (u) at the end can be treated as a cute 'accent', for lack of a better term, and can be ignored in the romanization process to get to where Tsubasa's names are.

"Request", granted.
Watched a couple more. The big fat guy (I forget his name) - his "nyamo" and his laught, the "p-kukukuku" is highly irritating. I am liking Aruruu more, and I'm getting more addicted to the OP. Updates for the next couple(or more) coming later. Oh, before I forget: The screaming by Oboru and the camera zooming outward is getting kinda iffy lol. BTW, Nuwangi is scary o_O

Hmm, I believe you are right, because it spells Aruruu as Aruruw at www.utawarerumono.net. I also found a flash animation (http://kuuya.is.moelicious.be/story-e.html) in that webbie that spells the names the same way. Even Hakuoro has it's 'o' hacked down, becoming Hakuor (which sounds kinda cool, IMHO)
And another edit dedicated to the greatness of Aruruu...
I thought I would also throw
UtawaRayRomano in there, just for the heck of it. (leeched from Animesuki forums - my sig and this pic. Avatar was googled, lawl)

Edit:
Watched a couple more. Seems like Eruruw and Aruruw aren't liking what Hakuoro is doing. And IMO Benawi is awesome cool. Nuwangi should burn in Dine Bukoshiri. For some reason I don't feel like Hakuoro's voice is fitting his character (or maybe I haven't seen enough of his character) - he doesn't have the cool voice of Benawi.
Hmm, I need to look into the voice and character "matches" a bit more. Well, I shall edit this if I have anything to say. Off to watch a couple more! (As of now I watched 6).
Oh, and I just realized that they are doing all this uprising and rebellion just because the Grandma died? Or is it that the death/murder of the Grandma was a catalyst for all this? Interesting, at the least.
And may I add that the twins are awesome "background characters" XP
Quote from: -zoxan-For some reason I don't feel like Hakuoro's voice is fitting his character (or maybe I haven't seen enough of his character)
I thought that too. I didn't imagine it to be quite as gruff.
--Minor spoilerish stuff--Quote from: -zoxan-Oh, and I just realized that they are doing all this uprising and rebellion just because the Grandma died? Or is it that the death/murder of the Grandma was a catalyst for all this? Interesting, at the least.
Catalyst. They had been enduring the emperor's unfair rule for some time.
-------MINOR SPOILER ALERT---------
I watched a couple more. I was LMFAO at the sword scene - where she "duels" the samurai leader but all of the swords break and gets a BIGASS sword as a replacement. Overall, I'm loving this. I want MOAR, XDDD
Okay, onto the 11th episode. I'm kinda sad that all the village people were dead. And now they call Hakuoro a traitor and someone's brother-in-law. This is getting hecka interesting. Oh and the swordswoman who calls Hakuoro "Villain Rak Shine" or something like that - she looks cool. Nice voice too. Kinda manly, but it actually fits the character :O
*Vanishes to watch the 12th ep.*
*reappears*
I watched the 12th one too. Hard winning for Aruruu. And man, Hakuoro is getting scary. Good God, I want more.
P.S.: Do you guys think I'm spamming? :s
Edit:
Spamming or no, Episode 16 was the very first emotional ep, IMO. The story told by Aruruu to Yuzuha made my eyes wet :embarassed-smiley-goes-here: and Kamyu is cute in her own way. And wtf is up with the name of the "master" that the "warrior" wishes to meet. Good God, it's so complicated ^^;
Oh, can I make a request of Eruruu's face when she is stubborn or stern? It's SO awesome, 8D
Oh, and again - after watching episode 22, You know that you should not mess with Hakuoro XD
AH, with just one more episode left, I tend to believe that it's the character in the anime that rule, and not the story. Like, all of the characters are super awesome. That's all.
Thread necro, I choose you!
I have started watching this show. It's definitely good stuff. I see what people like about Aruruu but my tastes skew a lot more towards Eruruu. (BTW, I prefer to romanize their names that way because "uw" just feels so incredibly unnatural for both English and Japanese.) I was just watching episode... 7 or 8 this morning? When Hanyu or whatever her name (the black-winged angel) first appears. And she's vaguely cute, I guess, but her hair is so awful and her voice totally does not fit her appearance at ALL. Plus the way she acts is kind of annoyingly immature.
One thing I really like about this show is Hakuoro. He's not your traditional male lead at all. He's not a fiesty, ambitious youth, he's not your aloof mystery-bishounen (he is up-front and honest about his feelings, though he has some mystery to him), he's not your ultra-generic eroge lead, or even your antihero ecchi lead... he's a mature, sociable, tactical man, a born leader with a good heart, and he's probably 25 if not older. That's a character who's both unusual and respectable.
Also, one of my favorite wallpapers (http://mduo13.no-ip.org/wallpapers/misc-2catgirls.jpg) for... a couple years I think, now -- has been of Eruruu and Aruruu and I hadn't even realized it. I figured they must be original characters or something.

I think you mean "Master of Disguise"! She'd make Snake proud.
I watched the first 2 or 3 episodes ON Demand, and I LOVEEEDD it! I hope it turns out to be a nice series...I might become a fanatic XP
It's really good for the first few episodes, but by the end, it feels a little bit tired. Still quite watchable, but the magic doesn't increase over time like with certain series. Aruruu and Eruruu are quite adorable though.
