Quote from: drallcomeNerdy boy falls in love with hot chick / robot / cat girl / schoolgirl / maid / UBS device/ ect...
From that I would like to add
- Hot chick falls in love with originally despised nerdy boy.
- Female android/alien/non-human falls in love with nerdy boy
-Prophecies.
-Tentacles for all you hentai watchers...
That is all.
Ugly-looking townspeople will always betray the group.
A nerdy guy trying to get a date with the popular hot chick, gets refused and made fun of, then another hot chick hangs out/lives with him, and the popular hot chick gets jealous and falls for him, and then out of nowhere she pops out to try to get him.
Big fighting robots, space/battle ships, or just regular people kung-fu fighting, mysterys (like Conan, some parts of Steam Detective, and some parts of Master Keaton), and lots of others.
I hope I was help to you, OniCourseMusha
One guy in a huge house / temple with lots of girls and he so stupid he doent get any action with any of them, but all the girls still want him.

Revive, repeat, destroy, revive, repeat, etc etc. How many time must it be destroyed before it learns????
Common plots... lets see.... how bout:
Ordinary person receives some great power and must save the world from badguys.
Does that work? O.o?
Starts off with a normal character with a strong will and a specific special trait and ends up him honing it to an amazing potential and or upgrading him/herself to the max and defeating every foe in the process.
I forgot... A character who kicks ass and is a good guy, but then turns evil, but still kicks ass. Kinda like Gouki/Akuma whatever you call him.
Harem:
A girl gets a love letter from a popular guy. And at the end the girl rejects him cuz she has feeling for the main character.
Beach where every girl shows off there bikiniwear.
Pretending to go out wit a girl because to shoo off a stalker or random person.
a romantic or action-packed story that includes one or all of the following:
hot springs
watermelons on the beach
exploding chibis
pervy old men
mysterious strangers
Sorry...I didn't get enough sleep to be more inspired or original than that :?
1. A boy, and his robot / mecha.
2. Girl(s) that transform to "Magic Girl(s)", with optional anthropomorphic side-kick.
3. The "My girlfriend is an alien" scenario.
4. Kid aquires device that releases a creature to do battle, or even save the world.
5. One word: MAIDS!
-Very average boy going to a very average school. Bam! something happens and hes in a effed up mess and wants to solve it but only have very average ideas. Usually involving a very cute/hot girl gets with super natural powers. Also involves another female protagonist thats usually the main character's childhood friend, creating some odd love triangle.
This doesnt necessarily make the series bad, but it feels like every school related fantasy starts off like this.
The girl character becomes an idol singer episode are pretty common.
mDuo13's Clichénime Scale. (Inspired by Lord Raglan's Hero Scale)
Mark 1 point in the blank if the statement is true of the anime, then total them up. A perfect score would be 32 points.
_ Boy is training/working/studying and living alone.
_ A severely underdressed girl
_ meets him under supernatural circumstances (such as falling out of the sky)
_ and he takes her home, or, she follows him home.
_ They begin to fall in love.
_ Pretty soon her crazy sisters or other acquaintances show up to bother her, and end up living with them.
_ because she is an alien princess, a prototype robot model, or something similar.
_ Demons, thugs, or other baddies show up to capture her,
_ and she fights back with her special powers,
_ but the boy ends up saving her from them.
_ All of the girls fall in love with the boy,
_ even the girl(s) who are significantly younger than him.
_ When they are not dealing with schoolwork,
_ they are doing chores & cooking,
_ attending summer festivals,
_ and going to the beach,
_ and hot springs,
_ where they will fuss over confessing their love,
_ the girls will fight over him,
_ and then eventually they will be attacked by demons anyway.
_ She is kidnapped by a very powerful evil force,
_ but he discovers his own hidden powers,
_ and with everyone working together (maybe a song is involved)
_ they defeat the evil.
_ Finally, the first girl finds out that she has to leave permanently.
_ This causes the boy to become emo,
_ even though they have wiped his memories so he has no idea why.
_ Eventually, he regains his memories, also realizing that
_ he had also met her as a young child.
_ Finally the girl returns to him, and
_ they embrace, confessing their love for each other,
_ and shortly thereafter, all the other weird girls return.
Robots, scantily-clad and VERY easy girls, some sorta animal sidekick, panties, bulging muscles, energy balls and beams, and the world exploding.
No real PLOT, but that's the stereotype.
By the way, some results from my scale:
As scored by me:
Oh My Goddess (manga, movie, and OVA combined): 26/32
Mahoromatic: 20/32
Shuffle!: 23/32
Midori Days: 11/32
As scored by Loktera:
Tenchi Muyo! (based on the TV series): 28/32
Note that you have to make some allowances for Tenchi and OMG because they started some of these cliches.

You, my friend, are a fscking GENIOUS.
Now, I need to ask some of my friends from the old high school anime club if they can find some of the true clichénime they showed. Some of it was so bad that they covered half these points in the first EPISODE.

This whole guide is meant to be tongue-in-cheek. Still offended? Don't read any further.
-=-
Take a sip if the heroines are 'highlighted' in the OP.
Take a sip if the heroines' names are shown.
Take a chug if the OP ends with a group shot of all of the heroines.
Take another if the protagonist is in the same picture.
Repeat with the ED.
Take a sip if the protagonist is training/working/studying and living alone.
Take a sip if one of the heroines is severely underdressed girl.
Take a sip if one of the heroines meets him under supernatural circumstances (such as falling out of the sky).
Take another sip if he takes her home, or, she follows him home.
Chug the whole bottle if there are parental units in the house and they are *perfectly okay with it* (e.g. Makoto Sawatari from Kanon).
Take a sip if they begin to fall in love.
Take a gulp if more than one heroine sleeps under the same house per night.
If all of the heroines sleep under the same house (e.g. Love Hina, Negima), down a sixer.
Take a gulp per non-human heroine. (Try watching Utawarerumono with this sucker!)
Take a gulp if demons, thugs, or other baddies show up to capture her.
Take a sip if she has special powers.
Take another sip if they're offensive.
Take another sip if she uses them. If she uses them *specifically to save the protagonist from certain death*, chug the whole bottle instead.
If the protagonist has special powers and he uses said powers to save a heroine, take a chug.
If he saves more than one heroine, take x chugs, where x is the number of heroines saved. If x is equal to the number of heroines in the whole story, down a sixer.
Take a sip if all of the girls fall in love with the boy.
Take a chug if even the girl(s) who are significantly younger than him have a crush on the boy.
Down a sixer if the main heroine is significantly younger than the protagonist.
Take a sip if the series takes place in the summer.
Take another sip if the series is based off of a visual novel/AVG. (Notable examples are Kanon, To Heart, and Fate/Stay Night.)
Take a sip for each of the following shown in an episode:
- chores & cooking
- attending summer festivals
- going to the beach
- going to hot springs ('onsen')
- someone doing something uncommon for the protagonist
Take a chug if the protagonist mentions pornography at any time.
Take a sip for every time the anime forces fanservice on you. (Want to get drunk? Watch Soul Link or Negima!)
Chug a bottle if the protagonist had met one of the heroines at a younger age, but has no solid family tie to that person. (For example, while watching Kanon, you don't chug on Nayuki, but you chug on Ayu and Mai. Makoto doesn't count, as she was in a different form at the time protagonist Yuuichi met her.)
Chug a bottle if the protagonist becomes emo (definition: depressed).
Chug another if the protagonist becomes emo because of a heroine.
Chug a bottle if there are twins involved and both are heroines.
Take a chug if all of the heroines' eye colors are different.
Take a chug if all of the heroines' hair colors are different.
Take another if the more than one heroine has a hair color that just doesn't exist naturally (without reason).
Down a sixer if there isn't another male character who knows at least two of the heroines.
Down a sixer for every extra season (26 eps) of the anime.

A girl full of flaws that falls in love with a gorgeous boy and he likes her back(or sometimes it's the other way around)

An uber hot bishonen that has billions of fan-girls turn out to be gay and likes an unpopular kid
