Welcome to the 2007 Bleach gathering thread. This year the gathering will be taking place by the fountains, and then we will move to the park for more photos. we can then join the Jump Gathering at 1 to represent Bleach after we do photos :D I will going as Renji ^^.

Provided it still fits next year (25 pounds I lost since Fanime 2005 forced me to retired Edward Elric), I should be back as Hitsugaya again.
I'd love to come back as Kenpachi, but I'll try to do something about my headpiece.
I have to apologize for poking people, it was unintentional, that's what happens when you try out your costume without anyone around you. If I were a foot and a half taller, it probably wouldn't have been a problem. But at my height (or lack of), I was up in others shoulders/heads whenever I was in a group.

Coming back as Soi Fong again! Haha, I'm going to fix up my costume because I did the version of her with the big puffy coat or whatever. So I'm going to work on the backless version of her. Although, I see a lot of that around. :\ I have to fix my wig too. Cutting my hair is out of the question and my hair is getting to be annoying long to wear that wig again, sooo. Yeah, needing a larger wig. Neater one too.
BunofGovt - Oh my god, I thought you headpeice was awesome. You should totally keep it!
I cosplay as Hitsugaya Toushiro. I'm trying to complete it for AX. I have less than 30 days and I think I can make it ;-) Regardless, it's going to be ready for Fanime'07.

Well I will have Hollow Ichgo done by then... I just hope that I will have the sword and eyes for the costume by then. That is if I do not find another character that I just must dress up as... Ummm some thoughts come to mind... but anyway I should be Hollow Ichgo for the gathering. Yay I can not wait.

Out of my friends, I'm the shortest (5"2') and it just so happens that my favorite character from Bleach is Hitsugaya Toushirou! So I'll be going as him! Is it ok if I'm stuck wearing glasses though? Cause I'm blind as a bat, but the tenth captain doesn't wear any!

You could just wear really thick contacts XD But glasses aren't a big deal. We can't help what physical disabilities we bring to fanime :D
Did anyone commission their swords? I went to cosplay.com and saw a recommendation at the Bleach general cosplay topic someone makes great swords.
I want to stay locally first. Does anyone know someone who accepts a commission for making swords in the Bay Area? Payment is negotiable. Thanks :D

I am going to be commissioning Shinigami Urahara for a friend. If he pulls through with the costume, I'll try to have him stop by. There's also the tall guy with the full beard and scruffy hair that he may go as instead of Urahara... I forgot his name though. ^^;;
depending on if my friends are gonna come or not, one will come as Chad. and the other as Urahara. my bud Vadras will be reprising his role as Ichigo
Apparently an online quiz governed that I am Ishida Uryuu. It fits me pretty well so I will see about going as him including Kon with a cute dress and bows everywhere. ^_^ No promises, but please keep me in mind.

I caught the first episode this weekend and thought the voices for Rukia and Ichigo were fine.
From what I've seen of other anime, I'm absolutely dreading hearing Ichimaru in some southern drawl ....

no way XD well it will be interesting to see how the rest of the voices turn out.
it wasnt all that bad, i caught the first ep, i think Johnny did a decent job, its pretty tough to match a voice like the japanese v.a. On the other hand i think Michelle did an excellent job with her role as rukia. Im curious to see how the rest of the cast will perform, one things for sure atleast they didnt mess it up like naruto. But it was pretty cool to find out that Vic Mignogna is Kon. its a lil too early to tell based on the first ep but im looking forward to seeing how things go
edit: ok so i was wrong as Kon. =(
Michael Lindsay is Kon. Vic's role hasn't been publicized yet. I think I would laugh my ass off if Vic was Kon though.
I might go as Rukia.. not sure... i'm already commited to two cosplays... have to see if i can get this one ready in time also
The voices for the dub are pretty decent. I'm hopin' they're just warming up ;)
I cried myself to sleep when I heard Kon and Don Kanonji's voices. The phrase "douche bag" came to mind vaguely....
Although, Don Kanonji annoys me anyways... =/

XD But ASK for permission to hug or glomp someone before you do.....because alot of people have gotten their costumes damaged because of them..(was one of them) ESPECIALLY people with props.....Like, I'll be SUPER MAD if someone accidently breaks my sword...(Sode no Shirayuki) But other than that, its ok! As far as my knowledge goes for gatherings, it's just usually one day. ^^
yeah gatherings are ususally scheduled for just one day, since many people usually have other cosplays planned for the other days. i know im cosplaying Haku from Naruto whatever day the Naruto gathering is (hopefully the Bleach gathering and the Naruto gathering wont be on the same day)

it looks fine to me - you'll probably have to get it peacebonded, but other than that i think you're ok. My Zabimaru is made entirely out of wood and i supposed you could technically hurt someone with it but as long as you dont intentionally hurt any one you're fine ^^

thing is ive never really been a fan of Gin. then i started rewatching the Soul Society arc with my sister and all of a sudden i was like ' hey..gin is actually pretty cool ^.^' so i got inspired to draw him. it was kinda a quick drawing i did during the break in my printmaking class so its not the best, but hey i tried. i thought you my fellow Bleach fans would enjoy seeing it ^^

Hi! N00b here, but, I'm going to be cosplaying for the first time at the Fanime next year, and I'm going as Hinamori! So, sign me up for the Bleach gathering :D!!
I'm cosplaying as Lieutenant of the 11th Division Yachiru Kusakishi and a random squade member from 4th Division. Why?
1. Yachiru is my favorite Lieutenant cause she is so great, cute and just plan fun.
2. My boyfriend is gonna be someone from the 11th division and I am going to be someone from the 4th division and he's gonna boss me around by making me do random things around Fanime.

I’m on Chapter 67 :) Bleach is the third series I read the manga after watching the TV series. I watched the entire Soul Society arc and a few afterwards. In the past, I just watch the TV episodes for a series. The more I read the Bleach manga, the more I think about for future anime series I read the manga first, and if I like the series, I watch the episodes.
Anyone share the same thoughts? Anyone have different thoughts?
for me, most of the time its read the manga then watch the anime. but then again, ive watched all of ouran high school host club without reading the manga (but now i want to ^^) so it depends it can go either way for me

I'm going as a hollow, most likely Menos Grande. Menos Grande has a cute face. (Yeah, I know I'm weird.) I'm lazy and a hollow costume is cheap and affordable. Plus, I've been shinigami twice already, time for a change.

If anyone is good at altercations/sewing and needs a small/medium size shinigami outfit, I'm trying to sell mine at $30 (or best offer) for both hakama and top karate uniform. It's got white cloth roughly sewed on to resemble shinigami outfit, used, but no damage in the pants or top. You might have to re-iron the hakama, that's about it. oh, also includes white cloth for the waist part. (^_^)v

small/medium - i'm about 5'3'', 120 and the thing fits loosely, so i'm guessing it can fit someone between 5'0'' - 5'6'' and between 100 and 150 lbs. rough estimate. maybe it can fit someone smaller and heavier, i'm not sure.

huzzah! after a long revamp, the forums are back up and running! the bleach gathering thread i've started over at cosplay.com is growing, so i think we'll have a great turnout this year ^^ if its alright with everyone, ive decided that the gathering will take place at 12:00 - that way it will give us time to take photos at the fountains and the park across the street should we choose to do so (i think it would be kinda cool ^^) and then come back to join up with the Jump Gathering at 1. sound like a good idea?
Welcome back, everyone! Sunday at 12 is fine with me. I've decided to go the way of low stress and limit my cosplaying, so the Bleach and Jump gatherings will (probably) be the only cosplaying I'll do this year. Had hoped to do more or something different but unable to get organized and find more time... of course all that could change in the next few months ... :D
EDIT: add Whistle! to my cosplay list, I want to wear my soccer outfit to the Jump gathering so I'll leave the Bleach gathering to allow time to change.

Add me! I am doing a Soul Society Pleeb. I haven't determined which unit to be with, but my Hakama is almost done and my yukata are too! If I change this I will let you know, but it depends on how much I can get done costume wise. I have a ton of consignments on my plate right now.
BTW... One of the reasons why so few Naruto showed up last year was because they left and lost track of time. Also, If the Bleach peeps want me to shoot pics of this gathering I would love to, however if it becomes an issue (like last year) then I will again wait till after it is over. I do what I do for all of you, and I don't want to be "In the way".
The Bleach peeps that went to the Shonen Jump gathering had a "special" photo session after the "Jump" gathering. I was very happy that they did :P I don't know if time will allow me to do it this year, because I have to get changed for the FFVIII gathering.

I have no clue. The box said it would turn out to be light brown. Instead I got a bright copper that bordered on orange. Don't trust what Herbal Escense says.

My hair naturally is brown. I was trying to get it a lighter shade brown, instead I got bright copper. The picture on the box lied!
is your hair a light brown? with those kinds of hair dyes (which i believe dont require using bleach *ha ha how ironic in this thread XD*), the lighter your natural hair color, the brighter the hair dye is going to be.
It's dark brown, that's why I was trying to go a shade lighter. Tat worked out great. >.<

Nope,no bleach (ehehe xD). I just bought the dye in the box, and that's it. I guess I'll just have to wash my hair a couple thusand times untill the orange comes of and the color gets more normal.
I might be able to convince my brother to go as Zangestu. (Their hair is identical XD) But I'd first have to convince him to go at all. This will be very difficult, so don't get your hopes up.

10:00AM Costume contest check-in. (Limited to first 100 people who signed up. Sign ups at Japan Video. Deadline is April 15.)

Everyone meets in front of San Francisco City Hall and we walk to Japantown.
Last year, I didn't sign up for the parade and I marched at the end of the line. I signed up yesterday for '07 parade. I'm not sure why people need to sign up anyways.

then all of hueco mundo chases ulquiorra with rings in hand wanting to play ring toss
the running just adds a bit of a challenge

OMG! I finally finished the skirt! If you are a first time sewer, like me, do not under any surcumstances pick to sew a pleated skirt.(It turned out...k for a first time. xD)
Yes, pleated skirts are evil until you get used to sewing them. But yay! Nothing like choosing something difficult so everything will be easy!

Almost a week to go and I still need to finish the shealth for Yachiru's sword. AH!
I got my wig last week (sweet) and yes, I did have to buy the sandles online (Sorry!) but my actual costume is almost done! I just have to do the final hem work and Yachiru will be complete!Although my badge for 11th squad got a bit... curvy, I feel its okay enough to not make another one.

ok so i got another idea for a photo we could do for the gathering (was inspired from a thread from Gaia Online). how about we get everyone together in one shot, and we all do the famous Francesca Dani pose? for those of you who are unfamiliar with who she is, she is a cosplayer known for doing the same expression and same pose for almost every single cosplay photo of her. example:

take the ichigo, shinigame, etc group and make them do the same expression but different positions? Or same position but diffirent waky expresions? (I like the first one better)
or if you really want we can have the whole masive group doing that?
And then one of us can put the pics together like the one you gave an example of. xD

actually, thats a better idea - the Fran Dan pose can be like the last shot we do for each group and character group shots we do. good thinking ^^ ill pass it over to the ppls on cosplay.com and see what they think.

I just found out two things when looking at my new Bleach art book (weeeeee!)
1. In the manga, Yachiru's sheath is light pink and not dark pink.
2. There are some designs on her sword I over looked
but the hardest part about the sword that I've put off until today is the wheels. How in the hell am I going to put wheels on this thing? Cardboard?

YUKARI!!! I HAD A BAD ACCIDENT. T_T So, I went to Michall's and got a poster board (the skinny one...so i could roll it up into a tube.) And then I got home and tried doing it with my water color paint. It turned out perfect..but my cat jumped on it and all the water and paint spilled all over it and it all got smeared. T_T I looks like a big blue and red blob now. what should I do?

There's no way of saving it. The water soaked through and made the board bumpy. The whole writting basicly ran all over the board. Here is what I tried to do: I waited untill it all dried. Then I tried to use the wash techniques on water colors. (which means i used water to try and wash off the stuff that got splattered.) I gave up and threw it away. Should I go get another board tomorrow and try to make another one? T_T

*is completely exhausted DX* so despite it being super late as im typing this, i just had to go and post because i might end up forgetting what i wanted to say. first off, id like to say that the gathering was a HUGE SUCCESS. i had no idea we were going to have so many people! the turnout was fantastic. oh and id like to give props to Angel Kawaii, who made the awesome Bleach 2007 Gathering Sign and to Indigo Project for helping being my megaphone when my voice became tired (my voice is completely shot now from shouting, but it was totally worth it).
this gathering would not have been as good as it was without all you guys, and i hope i did a good job in leading it and organzing it. i was my first time leading one, so apologize if at times i didnt seem to sure of what i was doing. id' love feedback, positive or negative (just dont be too mean XD; ). i would love to lead this gathering again next year if you guys will let me ^^

im glad i got to meet so many of you guys!! you are all super awesome people, and i have to say that out of all the 5 times ive been at Fanime, this gathering was by far the best one i have ever been to. i had so much fun at the park!!! good times there haha XD

yeah next year we should move more to the center of the park - everyone kinda stopped at the rock so i just went with it and decided thats where we were going to shoot the rest of the gathering XD. i love that aerial shot you took! i can totally see myself XD.
