I was watching the final dvd and they said that they dont know if they will be making more or not...but I think they should! The manga surpasses the anime, and wouldnt it be cool to see it on the screen?
i have to say i think fruits basket anime sucked, i really like the Manga, but the anime was crap.... my friends and i were talking, and there's no way they could start up the anime after the ending of the series.. they ended the story line compleatly & screwed up the story line... bleg.. i hope they don't...
I feel differently about the anime. I however haven't read the manga, so I have noting to compare it to. I would like to see another Fruit's Basket anime since I was fond of the first. Maybe I'd get to see something around the lines of... Fruits Basket in college?
Kiyo gets a date... that can't hug him.
Yuki gets a date... that can't hug him.
Tohru doesn't get a date.
A new character that gets drunk easily and is agressive in hugging.

Tohru has a job and is in jeopardy of getting fired. Her grades suck because she has to juggle work and school.
Kiyo is the local gangster. I think this would be sort of funny.
Yuki is too famous and is the target of many jealousies.

I should hold off on some of the spoilers that work against that plan and just say read the manga.
i watched the anime version first all the way through and LOVED it. Then a little while after i read the the first volume of the manga.
The manga- i don't like the vibe i get from the characters in the manga, i don't know if it's just me, but they seem waaay more tense/cold it doesn't seem fun-loving and that's what i enjoyed about the anime. Though keep in mind i've only read volumes 1/2/10(i think) of the manga so i haven't given the manga much of a chance.
I really liked what they did with the anime, and i think it'd be cool if they could contiune the series in whatever way they can, because i really enjoyed it myself ^_^.

I think my view has to do with the fact that i read the manga first... i suppose if you look at the anime at just that, totally detatched from the manga... then i suppose it's good, but in comparison.... the manga is WAY better...
I've watched the whole anime and I hope they do.
The ending just seemed kind of inconclusive.
I say no new Fruits Basket until I see a second season of Berserk and either a redone Trigun or an alternate universe Trigun OVA but featuring a silver-haired Vash who misses once in a while for the keeel. :twisted:
I wouldn't be surprised to see a 13-episode OAV of Fruits Basket.
i fell in love with fruits basket from the first episode to the very end becuase that anime touched my heart. i cried a few times here and there. That anime has many moral values in which i personally learned from...

But if you were to re-animate the anime with the techniques we find today and the full plot of the manga, it'd be insanely awesome (and heartbreaking.)
As i have said before, they CANNOT create another anime. It's impossible. They ended it, there's no way to go back to the rgular series after the ending they put onto the anime. It's too far off base, and too final... this topic is almost pointless, because they CAN'T create another anime...

A lot of shows are getting remakes these days. For example - the Ah My Goddess OVA had a somewhat conclusive ending, so they simply restarted the show with a modified storyline closer to the manga. The only reason I see for why Fruits Basket might not get a similar remake is that it was long enough that it covered so much story that a new one would probably spend too much time retreading old ground.
Not that I really would be looking forward to it. I never really got far past the initial boredom this anime provoked. (Please don't hate me!)

A Furuba remake can happen. It's as likely as every other series that may warrant a facelift. Just that it's up to Takaya-san first to approve of it.

I would be quite happy if they re-animated it.. then they could kill the ending...
and as to the varioius comments about my remark... i wasn't saying that people couldn't talk.. it's just that they killed all hopes of another season whith the ending they put on it. If they changed it -put a diff ending- then they could deffinetly crate another series.. i was just commenting -as someone who has read the manga's- that they were way off the manga with the ending -not to say it wasn't a very nicely done, and a very touching ending- they just couldn't continue the anime... unless they put on an alternate ending of course...

The manga was no doubt soo much better because it kept going and well...was better. It's a very good ending that could very well be a new beginning in the anime...I would like to see a continuation...
But why did it end in the first place? Not many viewers? Short of money? O__o?
