Title: Do you HAVE to register to...

Just attend the con? What if you dont go and watch the anime screenings, or join and contests, or go into the Artist's Alley/Dealer's Room?

Can you just come for, say, the cosplayers? Meeting new people? Hall Cosplaying?

In retrospect, you can go to Fanime without a badge.
However, you won't be able to go into certain places.

Maybe it's just me, but I felt that no one really cared if you had a badge or not..

walking arround i think is okay. but yeah like everyone said you cant do much if you dont have a badge x: even going to music fest

If you are worried about money for registering, you could always probably volunteer.

It looks that way, but we have caught people who have tried to go into certain events without a badge. :P

...because the Fanime staff just so happens to have Medieval(sp?) torture devices behind walls...

Nonononononono. The Fanime staff does not do that.
-Well. Maybe the tabletop gaming department...

The most that may happen if you go around the con without a badge is getting escorted out of the convention center at most.

If you want to go to the con but not register, becoming a staff member or volunteer would be the best choices only if you are willing to work for it.
