Title: Thinking about going to Convention..
Post by: Lorus on September 20, 2006, 10:48:16 PM
First time newbie here! I was thinking about attending the convention, but I have little to no knowledge about it. Normally where is the convention held? Is it going to be in a different place for the year 2007? What is the difference in price from registering early online and paying at the door, if that is possible? Thanks for any feedback! :D

-Edit-
Forgot to add this in.. If anyone knows the location of the event for the year 2007, what is the address? I get lost going almost anywhere so I would probably have to search mapquest or something for directions to the convention and then back home.

-Edit, again!-
Another thing I forgot! Sorry   Are there any rules about cameras, photography, and such? I wouldn't want to pay for everything, get ready, and get thrown out for taking a picture without knowing rules about it.   Thanks for any feedback!! :D

1/2) San Jose Convention Center for 2007.
3)The price difference could range from $10-20 depending on when you pre-reg. The price increases as the con gets closer.

4)150 W San Carlos St, San Jose, CA
5)I don't think so...

For cosplayers, just ask for permission.
That much I know.

The only place(s) that doesn't allow photography/video recording is the Art Auction/Art Show area and the screening room(someone correct me if I left something out).

Other than that, it's allowed everywhere. You should be fine with taking pictures of cosplayers/GOHs as long as you ask them first.

The price for pre-registration at the moment is $40.00 until October 31st.

It usually goes up about $5.00 more after each deadline given on the site until the time of the con (or really, just even a bit before the convention starts). The ending price by the time FanimeCon comes is usually $50...and that $50.00 is for the entire weekend. Friday thru Monday.

You can pick up your badge on the Thursday before FanimeCon starts too...so really it'd be like you're at Fanime from Thursday thru Monday! :D However nothing really happens on Thursday aside from the Pre-Reg Dance that Fanime usually has, which is (as stated in the name) is for the Pre-Registration people only...so only those who registered BEFORE Fanime can come to the dance.

I hope this helps! :D
