I know a few other people here are watching ARIA - reveal yourselves! How far are you? I haven't picked up the manga yet, but I've seen all of ANIMATION and the first dozen eps of NATURAL... it's such a relaxing show, sometimes it's too boring for me to watch, but at the same time, it always makes me happy when I do watch it. I just love Akari's carefree, sentimental attitude, to the point where I feel indignant every time Aika says, "hazukashi serifu kinshi!"
Does anyone else feel like the animation quality went down just a tiny bit for NATURAL, compared to ANIMATION? I'm trying to decide if it's just my imagination.

yeap, one of the best series ever and is definately one of my all time favorites. Orange Planet for life.
I could write for pages on how great this series is, but I rather not even start atm. I highly recommend the series if you like relaxing paced stories.
and yes, the quality did degrade a bit from animation to natural. The overall artwork shows less detail, and as some people stated, the character's detail on facial expressions are more in question in Natural. Also I think the stories overall quality degraded a bit as well, since Natural is simply the same stuff that Animation had, just more if it (and it's great for fans but I don't know for the mainstream crowd).

Totally another ARIA fan here too. Alice and Alicia <3.
I started on the series in the form of ADV's release of the first three tankouban. When the anime series was released, I picked that up too. Personally, I think I enjoy the manga just a little bit more because of the art, but the anime covers all the bases it really should and it has an amazing score. IMO, Alice is also more moe in the anime series.
I always tell people that the reason why I like the series is cause it's so relaxing and it makes you feel all warm and happy all over. I think that's a pretty good way to put it.
I'm through all of ANIMATION and maybe 10ish episodes of NATURAL. I should really catch up to the most recent fansubs, which I believe go to episode 15 or so.
Currently on episode 2 1/2 -- 1/2 because I ditched halfway through to acquire the soundtrack. O:)

Yeah, I have to say that ARIA Company is my favorite company too. Obviously the employees (all two of them XD; ) are likable and they also have the best uniform. <3 Orange Planet comes in second.

Maa-shachou made it into Saimoe this year too. Totally beat Eureka from Eureka Seven. XD; Not Yuzuha from Utawarerumono though.

I won't lie, sometimes I can't stand aria shachou, he's ALWAYS there, and always will be, so you have to deal with it. But at times, enough is enough. but that's me. We all know Amano has a thing for cats. Probably the episode dedicated to him in animation (ep 7 i believe) and the one in natural are one of my least favorite episodes. On a side note, aria-shachou is a HUGE cat, hes like what? 20-30lbs? and Akari carries him around like hes nothing. Akari must have super strength.
I dunno, Akari used to be my favorite, but overtime, Alice was just too adorable to pass up on. And Atena is just so mysterious, underappreciated and beautiful, yet clumsy, making her one of my favorites as well.
My most favorite episodes are probably 3 and 6 (alice and atena introductions woot) and 11 because of the flashbacks.
As for natural, they are all above average but nothing mind blowing. But episode 3 of natural is definately awesome.
And yes, everyone's face (especially aika, akari and alicia)'s faces are a little fatter in natural, and I don't appreciate that. Someone stated that they sometimes look like raccoons and I have to agree.

I always thought Aria-shachou to be something of an alien-cat (because it is sci-fi, right?), so I've never, ever had any problems with him.
I actually tend to think he's cute. ^^;

Even with that in mind, I can't stand him. He's just so fat and ugly. And yes, Akari must have incredible strength to pull that off. I do like the mysterious Cat World and all that, though.
BTW, do you guys follow CrystalNova or Hikari no Kiseki? I remember HnK's subs of Pita Ten were kind of subpar, so I've been watching CrystalNova's instead, and so far they've been pretty solid, though they are a few episodes behind.
I kind of wonder if I would enjoy the manga. Normally I'm manga-impaired, especially when it comes to action series, but since ARIA is anything but, I might enjoy it - I love the OMG manga, after all...

I bought all the licensed manga (which is only 1-3... damn ADV's discontinuation), which I definately recommend getting. I watched all of the Animation, currently following HnK with Natural [they finally got their releases back on schedual!] I really want to cosplay an Undine someday, but I just don't know who...
I really love all the characters, it's hard to pick my favorite. Aria-shachou is my favorite cat, though. Even if he does look a littly silly. Him and his mochi-mochi pon-pon ;P

As for ep 13, you seem to have encountered the same problem as Spiritsnare. I am attempting to get him a working version of the file. I'll pass it on to you too next time we meet. I also have most of NATURAL on my Nomad right now so when I see people they can leech that too. Only the last, like, 3 episodes are missing because they wouldn't fit.
In other news, I love the vol.3 I got from Kino. Wonderful Akari cover, Alice bookmark, and overall the quality of the manga is top-notch. Plus it has furigana, so the kanji won't stop me from reading it.

Also, listening to the ARIA OSTs while reading it is like having an intravenous feed of pure bliss.
Furthermore, episode 24 was good. With the quality of these past few episodes, I really want to see what they break out for the last two. But at the same time, I really don't want the series to be over...
Hey, here's a suggestion. Why don't we watch one episode of ARIA every Friday? We could start with ANIMATION, and work our way through NATURAL, until eventually we watch the last episode together... though I have the feeling I might cave and finish the series before we got there, being as that'd be the greater part of a year...

From what I understand, Tokyopop has the rights to both Aria and Aqua, and ADV dropped Aria after three volumes :(

Heh, I have volumes 2-4 in Japanese. They at least have furigana, which makes it a lot easier to read. Though I still can't follow at least half of the volume's text directly, I can pick up enough key words and scenes to remember the corresponding conversations in the anime, and thereby pick up a little bit more. Once I get past where the anime goes, though, I'm gonna be in trouble.
I got Akari on that one.
I altered a few other "self-doubting" questions and got Athena afterward.
...I always thought I'd be Aika though.

Just watched the promo. Animation looks pretty clean, otherwise exactly as expected.
5 days...
5 days to finish like 18 episodes of NATURAL and one OVA. That's ~4 episodes a day. Surprisingly, it's doable.

The calendar order I placed on Amazon.co.jp got canceled due to lack of supply, so I printed off an ARIA poster for my wall based on this image (http://img.mduo13.com/aria/aria-akari_windy.jpg/url). It makes me very happy.
And you know what else makes me very happy? ARIA The ORIGINATION. All I've seen so far is the first two raws, but they were both really good (and not hard to follow). <3<3<3<3<3

Not really related to the anime, but the latest issue of Comic Blade (April 08), which was released on Feb. 29th, contained the final chapter of the ARIA manga.
I hear you get to find out who Akari has been sending mail to. Unlike the anime, it was never stated.

It has come to my attention that ORIGINATION is scheduled for only 13 episodes. That means that I've seen more than half of it already. Between that and the manga ending... I don't know if I can take it. I'm starting to think that ORIGINATION is the best series ever... seriously. I was in awe of episodes 6 and 7. I'm really torn: I want to watch more of it, but I really don't want to see the end of the series...

p.s. watching raws of this show is a great experience: most of the time it's not that hard to follow, and the animation is so pretty... and it's relaxing not to be reading. I can lie in bed and watch before I go to sleep, and I don't have to squint to see the subs from that far away. Though I think I'll have to rewatch the series subtitled because there were a couple bits I didn't get (like, what was the ferry thing that Akari worked at in episode 4? Just a ferry where Singles can work and get paid?)

Check out the ratings ORIGINATION (http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=5424) is getting. Three reviews each giving it 10s in every category. Crazy.
Stuck at episode 9 raw, 3 subbed. I can't stand not watching, but I don't dare get any closer to finishing it. I wonder how long it'll be before impatience wins out and I have to watch more. There's always the manga, I suppose... Maybe I'll watch a new episode in celebration of the end of the semester, in a few weeks?
I say screw CrystalNova, HnK subs aren't bad. Not that I really need them since I watched it all raw...
I really hope someday some licensor can pick up this gem of a series. I kind of doubt ADV would, since they unwisely abandoned the manga long ago; it'd just be too ironic. Tokyopop's ARIA covers really turn me off, though.

So I think this is the first I've encountered of ARIA Uploader (http://aria.ipyo.net/post/list/), which is basically a slightly customized danbooru, but for ARIA only. Wow.
that's cool but 1500 pics? that's less than what I have.

Pretty nifty.
kinda neat, good organization in regards to h, non-h, and even a doujin download section.
the related tags kinda suck as opposed to click-able tags of image. But given that there aren't that many per image, they probably need the fill. And much lack of recognition of artists is also disappointing.
Yeah, I was seriously disappointed that they don't have artist tags. That's one of the best features of danbooru.

Just saw the same news. I was gonna make a separate thread, though, because Eri Kawai's stuff isn't limited to just ARIA. Her OP to the Tales of Symphonia OVA is really good, too. And she even did a song from KiRite. =(
EDIT: as for that ARIA blog Chun posted, I like the way their comments field uses a sketch of Alicia as the background, giving it a stationary-like quality. One of the cleverest little bits of web design I've seen in a while.
Looking forward to my boxset coming in soon. In the meantime, I've been making a lot of progress on the manga. AQUA volume 1 was really interesting - probably 50/50 on stuff that got covered in the TV series and stuff that wasn't because it has to take place before ANIMATION; but seeing the character designs evolve into their modern forms, and seeing the art style before the SD faces became so standardized was something special.
That leaves AQUA volume 2, and ARIA volumes 9-12... and ORIGINATION episodes 11-13. Oh, please, don't let it end.
Gonna watch another episode this week sometime.
