Hey guys!
Lately I've been learning a few Parapara type-dances and I think they're a lot of fun, but I think they would be more fun with MORE people!
So I toyed with the idea that maybe we could have a workshop dedicated to learning the basics of parapara and maybe even one or two dances.
I think it would be fun to teach the dances, but it would be hard to do on my own. I bet there are a few para people out there :D
So anybody interested? Maybe we could even perform it somewhere in the Con :3
I have the ParaparaParadise sound track, so I have all the music we'll ever need.
Some Parapara in case you've never seen it before (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8lsq8G4-UI)
I would be interested in attending, Sera, since I didn't attend the para para panel that was held 3 years ago at the westin/santa clara convention center.
I always wanted to learn how to para para right lol XD
I mentioned that in another topic! XD Dude, I'm so in! I want to learn, because looking at websites...it makes no sense!
Haha. Awesome! Parapara is a lot of fun though! What's not to make sense? XD

I dunno....I just don't get it....>__< Seriously, when the arrows and moves make sense.....I'll let you know...
Just bumping this up for more people to read...
Anybody else down?
ParaPara has been dead for years though. It was a fad that officially died in Japan last year(though it tried its hardest to last).
There's little secret to para para. It's based on small movements(side stepping is only about 5inches in each direction) and are movements are supposed to be fluid and njot grandiose.
I love the psycho le cemu para para!!!
soooo much fun <3
Woohoo~! Bring on the HI-NRG Attack!
Actually, although the fad IS dying down (if not, in fact, dead) in Japan, it's certainly shown at least a SPARK of life here in America. The fact that there are teams here in America that still do it (one of which actually performed at an AVEX-sponsored event), should show that there's a small fanbase for it. Otherwise Eurobeat would be a moot product in the music world. (Side-plug: HI-NRG Attack will have two or more new albums on iTunes pretty soon! SWEEEEEET!)
Lmao I would so love to go! XD

Ah, I never really kept up with fads and whatnot.
It's just fun.
I'm not too worried over what's big in Japan or anything, I heard that disco and Elvis are big over there though XD
My girlfriend was obsessed with para about a year ago.
She memorized many routines.
Im pretty sure she remembers most of them.
She showed me a few dances but... kinda embarassed to do them infront of other people lol.
If there was a Para Para Workshop/Panel @ Fanime, I would definitely attend!! ^^
BAZOOKA PISTOLERO~!
In fact, LOTS of Franz Tornado!
If you'd like a list of some good ones, let me know. ;3
I'd go.
If this happens at Fanime, I would definitely attend.

I second that!
I have been unable to go the last however many times there was one, but I would love to go if there are any again. I'm not as into it as I once was (even then I horribly sucked), but I would still like to learn.
Yeah its kinda odd for guys to do Para Para since a good portion of the dances designed by Avex involve very feminine movements. Sometimes not only would they look ridiculous for a guy to do, some they just can't do to the way our hip sockets are made.
I'm sure it wouldn't be hard getting one of these going for this year. =} Particularly since there is already enough interest in this thread thus far to justify one. =}
Supprisingly there were quite a few people last year who had memorized the routines and thats awesome.
Para para is a cool game. I remember watching a friend's boyfriend get into this at a golf land arcade one day and he had us all in stitches because he was going at it like he was doing kung-fu, it was great.
The only thing I'd be concerned with is whether or not we'd be able to fulfill the technical requirements for such a panel, so be sure and consider what you'd need, and then let us know as early as you can, and we'll see if we can make it happen.

Umm, with all due respect, you're talking about ParaparaParadise, the dance SIMULATOR that has players do things that CLOSELY RESEMBLE Parapara, if not the parapara routine itself. Parapara dancing itself is not dependent on the game/machine.
XD Oh man. I love Para Para Paradise. My friends and I had a little competition with each other last year in the game room. I always play it at Fanime in my cosplay outfit. I would so join this and I'll bring my friends too!

If you know the moves by heart with the music, there's no need game/machine. I know I can do moves without them since I can't always go to arcades.
i would love it if there was a parapara panel/workshop. the only routine i know is Night of Fire (i also know the rountines to Mokette Sailor Fuku and Hare Hare Yukai, but those aren't really full para para routines?). anyways, id totally be up for some kind of workshop, it'd be a lot of fun :D
Hare Hare Yukai, Sailor Fuku, etc... aren't exactly Para Para dances, but still just as fun to do.
For "real" anime related Paras, see Yoko Ishida's Para Para MAX series. In it, there's a LOT of eurobeat remixes to classic anime songs and a corresponding Para Para dance. I wanna buy the DVD and I'd like to learn all of it...maybe as a panel with Yoko Ishida there?
I was in Little Tokyo last month for a mini cosplay event that some of us on cosplay.com organized... While I was there, some of the other girls ran over to the arcade shouting some nonsense about para-something. Upon further inspection, I discovered they were talking about a strange DDR-style game with hand movements rather than feet movements. It even had the little arrows!
I was intrigued, to say the least. I later learned it was called "Para Para". Someone explained to me that in order to do well in the game you would need to know the routines beforehand. So I gave up on playing, although I really wanted to try.
Yeah. To make a long story short, I think I may be interested in this workshop. ^_^
In reality, you don't really need the arcade to dance Para Para. The arcade game shows you how to do some simple paras and simplifies it more with the player following arrows like DDR. There hasn't been any new Para Para Paradise arcade games since 2nd Mix (and probably won't be any more), but there has been a lot more Para Para dances that can be done without a machine.
Basically, most Eurobeat songs out there has their own Para Para dance attached to it. [ex. almost all songs in Initial D (arcade and anime) are danceable; I know the Paras to most of the bgms in Arcade Stages 3 and 4 ^_^,,,]
My sister (who is not registered on the forums yet) says she might be interested in teaching a couple of routines she's been learning since she's only going to do one for Masquerade. I'll try to keep you posted on that. ;D
This sounds like fun :)
I love Para Para! The music is great and it's so much fun!
I've always wanted to learn Parapara! ^_^
me and my friend sonya know most of the dance.she know more.i think they are fun and its awsome to know cuz when our playing para para and you know the dance ppl tend to stare at you more :}
That sounds great to me then! I'll be looking for the panel request form for this. (https://forums.fanime.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ktarian.com%2Fg%2Fhappycute.gif&hash=ed73e97686e63e103e50b23ecf9aa0287ca9337b)
Oh, and don't worry about telling me I misunderstood something. There's a LOT that I don't know, and I'm well aware of it. I'm not offended when you tell me I didn't get something.
Thanks!
