Post by: Barnes on February 10, 2007, 11:11:33 AM
Same thing as in the backup forums. I'm starting this again.

Arcade name:Nickel City
Location:Branham Lane, near Camden and Highway 85
Who lives near it?:Barnes
Website: www.myspace.com/nickelcity
Notes:Games cost nickels to play, and an admission fee is needed for entry, and sometimes live bands will play on Friday in the party room.

I'll edit this post with more arcade locations as this thread moves on. Don't post your opinion in the notes part, I'll erase those.

Arcade name: Boomers! Modesto

Location: Right off Pelandale in Modesto

Who lives near it?: Deepbluevibes

Notes: Deepbluevibes does NOT like this place, apparently.

Arcade Name: Casino Grand Arcade
Location: Connected to Cocoanut Grove and The Boardwalk (Santa Cruz)
Locals: Zoupzuop2, the Sugars (right?)
Notes: WILL NOT ALLOW Tournament play (insurance for such a thing is literally well over $1 million). Also hosts laser tag games, which they announce frequently. Music games include DDR Supernova, ITG2.1, DanceManiax, Percussion Masters, Beatmania (something), MTV 'Drumscape' or something (has Kansas, Boston, and other wonderful bands). HAS THREE SUB-ARCADES, some depending on park status:

Sub-Arcade Name: Neptune's Kingdom
Location: Next to Boardwalk
Locals: Zoupzuop2, Sugars
Notes: There's two levels; the upper "deck" arcade and the arcade found a little ways to the left on the first floor. Music games include PIU Exceed, Drummania 10. Some features of N's K are closed down during its 24 hr. span.

Sub-Arcade Name: Cannonball ????? (something)
Location: In the shaded walkway connecting the Grove to the Casino.
Locals: Zoupzuop2, Sugars
Notes: Small arcade that is connected to Neptune's Kingdom, but sometimes has its own, varying open/close times. Music games include DDR Extreme and Rhythm Fusion or something (a BM knockoff).

Sub-Arcade Name: Fun-Land
Location: On the other, "western" end of the Boardwalk park, close to the ticket stand
Locals: Zoupzuop2, Sugars
Notes: This one is directly tied to the park's status. Music games include DDR Extreme (although poorly maintained), MTV Drumscape, HipHopMania (not QUITE BM, but still considered canon to the series...).

Arcade Name : FunQuest
Location : Reno, NV Bottom Level of the Grand Sierra Resort
Locals : BrightHeart76
Note : This was my first job. Laser Tag arena, Bumper Cars, redemtion games, arcade style games, miniature golf, Round Table Pizza, Port of Subs, Ice Cream Store, Candy Store and Movie Theater on the same Level, Bowling upstairs. Outside there is a driving range on it's own concrete lake, Ultimate Rush Thrill ride and Go Kart racing. Coming soon there'll also be an indoor waterpark. For the suck that is Reno, this place is actually pretty darn cool.

Bump!

The SJSU SU has been under some renovation for the last couple of weeks, but it has recently opened up again and the arcade is also up and running again.  I get reliable word that the Melty Blood Act Cadenza and Guilty Gear XX Accent Core from Fanime are present.  I believe that makes SJSU the first arcade in NorCal that gets either game.

I'll likely swing by from time to time during the summer.  You'll definitely see me in there all the time when the fall semester begins.

I was reading up on Shoryuken and had definite confirmation that AC was placed at SFSU. Maybe OCE is going to be placing the game at both locations? I also go the idea that MBAC was being placed there as well. I'll be checking out SJSU some time this week to confirm for myself. Regardless, I'd kill to see both those machines along with IDAS4 this fall =X

Edit: Memory sucks, etc.

Arcade name: Rack N Cube
Location: San Francisco
Locals: Me, Khaistyle, Zerocide
Notes: It has a weird schedule what I have been told by Khaistyle since its in SF States' Campus. It's much better if you show up on afternoons.  Its better to visit during school days than vacation days since it hours are much longer.

Games: SFIII Third Strike, CVS2, KOF XI, DDR Supernova, GFV&DM, Beatmania III, Puzzle Fighter etc...

Also, we have confirmation of Act Cadenza at SJSU.

...along with Hokuto no Ken/Fist of the North Star. lawl

edit magz: Chun goes to UC Davis. I'm sure they'd appreciate MBAC/GGXXAC - they've got nothing else, right? ^^;

My bad, my memory is horrible >_>

But Fist of the North Star?! Oh boy... At least we've got Melty =X

Edit: Confirmed myself that the games they currently have running, as of today at SJSU, are:

Melty Blood Act Cadenza ver.B (99% sure same cab from Fanime + buttons/sticks fixed)
Capcom vs SNK 2
Hokuto no Ken
Deer Hunter
House of the Dead
Maximum Tune

They've removed the divider that created a hallway next to the arcade. Should be interesting to see how they layout the arcade setup now and what games will be dropped when everything is finalized. SC3 perhaps?

Please don't remind me. orz

Arcade name: MUGA
Location: Davis
Locals: Chun if season != summer.
Notes: Open everyday. Bowling alley charges cheap prices, 1 dollar gives 5 tokens, and most machines that usually charge 1$ will be 40c a play.
Games: Initial D 3rd Stage, Maximum Tuned 2, Pump it Up XTREME, CVS2, MVC2, SF:Third Strike, Tekken 5, Police 911, other assorted games. Oh, PUZZLE FIGHTER = 20c.

Also, Drummania 10th Mix, if it wasn't removed that day when magz went. Bring your own sticks if you don't want to fail. IIRC, those sticks were at Fanime, but the machine's different. I think it's in pretty good condition, but I didn't play higher-tier songs, so I wouldn't know.

I wouldn't be surprised. Last time I was there (prior to the renovation), they dropped SC3 in favor of SC2, because no one was playing it.

I wanna play more Conquest...pretty fun.

Quote from: zoupzuop2HipHopMania (not QUITE BM, but still considered canon to the series...)

It's basically Beatmania AC with a different name. Songlists are unchanged, IIRC.

SJSU Student Union Update

From what I read on SRK, Hokuto no Ken was removed and Third Strike was put back in.

I might stop by there again today to see what's up and what's not.

Edit: Some more updates from SRK:

MVC2 is back and has replaced SC2. T5DR and KOFXI are in the new center area (oooh...).

I was told by the manager that MvC2 will be replacing SC2.

Yes, and here are some pictures to prove it (taken today).

Side Area 1 (http://images.fhaw.info/recent/062207sjsusu/IMG_0709.jpg)
Side Area 2 (http://images.fhaw.info/recent/062207sjsusu/IMG_0710.jpg)

Pictures ~100-200k @ JPEG60 1024x768

Hopefully they bring back Guilty Gear and upgrade it to Accent Core.

From overview 2 you can clearly see where the old banister used to be and how much more space there is due to that from overview one. If they do just a little more rearrangement, they could put two fighting games from the side area and put them on the opposite wall, thus creating a ton more space around all fighting games.

SVGL got IIDX Gold a few weeks ago ^_^

UPDATE (6/26): Santa Clara Billiards in Santa Clara, CA, has a small arcade. I don't remember all the games that were there, besides F&F Tokyo Drift and Soul Calibur 3.

I will warn you now: DO NOT PLAY SC3 over there unless you can live with this forked up button setup:

(https://forums.fanime.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv473%2Fgs68%2Fsc3_wthisthis.gif&hash=abd4db38e45ef2042e45fe264e4e9aa4ee590ac1)

The Legend characters on that machine are pretty low-level, so if you want to take over Legend Mode and don't mind the weird buttons, by all means do it.

If so, I can vouch for the awesomnessosity of the place - back in the hey, they had Techno Motion (9-panel DDR, basically) installed. <3

yep, it used to be the Hilton.  They sold it about a year ago, now it's the Grand Sierra Resort.  Their making a big deal and spending a bunch of money to upgrade everything, the indoor waterpark is going to be AMAZING...too bad it won't open for more then a year yet.  bleh.  :)

edit...I typed in the wrong spot.  fixed now.
