The Girl Who Lept through Time (Toki Wo Kakeru Shoujo) is showing at the San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival with showings on Saturday March 17 and Thurday March 22. It's pretty likely that some of the No-Name Anime folks will make the Saturday showing.
I have no idea if any of the movie makers will attend, but the last time we saw an anime movie at this festival the Q&A after with the producer afterwards was a very nice bonus!

I'll be in the city during that time period; perhaps I'll drop in.
Update -- I'll be there for the 1 PM showing.
Okay, to anyone who did not catch the San Francisco showing, catch the second one on the other side of the Bay Area on Thursday night. Trust me, you won't regret it; this film was awesome.

No. If any people involved with making the movie were there, they were incognito. We did sit near someone involved with the film festival who also helped with the distribution of one of the local films that was promoted in the ads before the movie.

Houch. If I was in Northern California, I'd go see it.
Well this is an interesting movie to start out with but for some reason, seems to have dumbed down and become utterly incoherant near the end. Either than or I'm missing something completely abstract beyond the scope of just learning about life and how it relates to growth and maturity, casting out the idea of selfishness and doubt of everyday life of "what if I did this, then how would it impact/benefit my life and ideals of what would be best for those people" kind of thing. Other than that, I don't seem to notice anything too prevailing about this film. It had it's fun moments, bit of sappy moments, but overall, a little too plain for my taste as it kind of wanders around a bit between trying to involve the development of a relationship to solving OTHER problems that could be indirectly tied to the ending which is, unfortunately, very unconvincing and non-contributive to a few theme that should have been focused on in greater depth and magnitude. I don't doubt that certain themes are great ideas, but it is brought out in such an abstract to straightfoward way that makes you feel dumb for understanding it. Also it is obvious the ending is rushed and didn't tie everything together the way it should have been almost like a cop out for why things happened the way they did, making it seem almost ridiculous (as mentioned before the incoherancy). In addition, it would also have been nice to get a little more understanding of the characters like what you would see in Honey and Clover, Bokura Ga Ita and so forth; but it's understandable of what can be done in only 1:30 hours, even though an example such as The Promised Place Beyond the Cloud seem to contradict that idea.
Music is well done and art was decent as well, though nothing amazing.
All in all, a decent movie I guess, but nothing that will rock your world. Also another movie worth checking out is Stormy NIght. Another movie released this year which I have to say was decent as well.
It's out on fansub now, as an aside.
