I'm gonna cosplay as Yuni from Dance Dance revolution and if you hate it then BLAH! Im also gonna go for the FMV contest this year, so wish me luck~ ^^. and why does this forum layout look like the ones on Gaia?oh well. BTW add me as a friend on GAIA [~kiss kiss bunny~]
Ummm... welcome?
You're going to absolutely LOVE Fanime. Last year's Fanime was my first con, and I had an absolute blast on a budget of a mere $200 (that ran out rather early...). Cosplay or no, Arcade or no, Any feature or otherwise, you'll have an amazing time at Fanime.
Cool, it will be my first Fanime also! The more I read the forums, the more I'm looking forward to going. And yay Ranma 1/2!
You'll have fun there. It's probably one of the only places a girl can go fan girl and it will be perceived as normal... maybe even attractive...

Well if a girl ever want FanGirl on me I'd certainly love it <3
I remember my first time to Fanime........

Heh, heh. So, it's like a rite of passage! I really hope you have a good time! Visit the karaoke area. Put your heart on the stage (watch me sing >_>).
Conventions are totally awesome and people there are really nice. Make sure to ask cos/crossplayers for their photographs and hugs ^^
Ahhhh, so young. I remember MY first fanime. It was like a religious experiance XD
Going into 9th grade? Young'n indeed...
well, as you get older the experience will become even more and more fun. Because, there are certain things you just can't do when you're a 9th grader...
...
...
...
I think the older fans have some inklings.
I hope your first anime convention is TERRIBLE! And you, like, can't afford to buy ANYTHING in the dealer room, and then NONE of the bishounen you encounter pays you any attention except for the one who says you're UGLY and that's after con ops loses your registration so you have to pay twice, and your costume falls off, and, and, and...
I'm just kidding, of course. I don't really remember much about my first con except being a little bit of a deer-caught-in-the-headlights. And I think I saw some guy in a really crazy cosplay totally whoop at DDR, even though the arcade room was really tiny and near registration, which was totally at the opposite end from most of the con, which was spread out sort of unoptimally throughout the Santa Clara Convention Ce-...
... I'm rambling. Sorry.
Hahahaha. Thats pretty funny. And I remember that! The arcade DID used to be down on the first floor near registration, down past the front desk and gift shop XD
Jeez, that room was so tiny and smelly, and there werent hardly any good games XD
Also: I was probably even younger than her my first con (a fanime.) And at my first fanime, DDR wasnt out yet I dont think XD
Go ahead and ramble.
My first Convention wasn't that awesome...then again it was the super NON-personal AX and I only knew 1 person. Then I went to Fanime and saw what Conventions SHOULD be
FanimeCon 98, my first con. Other than 99, I haven't missed Fanime since. :)
So far I'm at 2 - 0 with attending FanimeCon. Few things are going to be able to stop ME from attending damn it!

Same here, except Ive NEVER missed a fanime XD This will be my tenth in a row ^_^0
You've been Fanime Con 10 years running?! That's AMAZING!! Happy Late 10th Anniversary!! <3 <3
Well I don't EVER plan on missing out on FanimeCon. It's just...too precious and important to me.
Be sure to check out the various gatherings if you plan on cosplaying, as well as the Live Events forum....and the Gaming forum as well. We have tabletop, REC games such as air hockey, and video games. If there's anything you'd like to play there, please feel free to stop by and make a few suggestions. ^_^

If it's their 10th year, shouldn't it only be their 9th anniversary?

Ding! Ding! Ding! Give Tenba a prize!
Yes and no. If we were measuring how many full years there have been between my first fanime and my latest...then yeah. Like..if you move to a place, then the first anniversary is the marked after the first full year. Youre counting full years. But...I dont live at fanime or anything like that. I go once a year for a few days at a time...to count how many "full years" Ive been AT fanime would be..silly XD We're measuring how many times I have attended fanime in an unbroken chain. This will be my tenth ^_^

If memory serves me correctly, FanimeCon 2003 was the 10th anniversary of the convention "FCX". This is like the 15th FanimeCon, now isn't it?
Anyway, I still remember my first convention: Fanime 2000 at the Santa Clara Convention Center. Ah... good times... I didn't care about small rooms, crowds, or any gripes, cuz I had nothing to compare it to. I consider the SCCC a shrine. Everytime I'm there, I just feel like roaming around and peeking into random rooms, thinking there was a video room or panel somewhere. I wish we can go back there, but Fanime became so big, that the SJCC is perfect for the attendance. I've been attending Fanime every year since 2000.

Uh..dude. They were talking about MY 10th...not fanime's ^_^0
Haha. The SCCC was great, but it really cant compare to the SJCC XD
Had a lot of great times there, though.
Heh, heh...oops! ^_^, Sorry bout that!
Anyway, now that you mentioned it, it's darn close to my 10th Fanime, too.
lolz i remember my first fanime long story short i lost my all money in the parking lot and lived though moochin (oh god the mooching) and the scavenger hunts
but ya this'll be my 4th and the mooching is going to be due to overspending instead of necessity...good luck
This is my first con as well I am taking my daughter too...any tips I am a 33 year old punk rock mom with a 13 year old punker daughter..any helpful hints to make this as fun for her as possible would rock and how pg 13 should costumes be she has some pretty racey costume ideas..

The free parking in Santa Clara was nice while it lasted. But the selection of places to eat within walking distance in SJ is much better. That and also the bigger exhibit/event rooms means no more crowding issues especially with the masquerade. We used to have some *seriously heavy duty* con gripes...back then.
1999 was my first FanimeCon...also the first year the con was held at a hotel (Wyndham) instead of a college campus. That must of been a really big deal. 8)
this will be my 5th Fanime, and im finally staying in the hotel too. i cant wait ^^
Fanime07 is gonna be my second one.
The last one was a little bwehish, but that could be due to the fact that my friend forced me to spend the whole entire time with her in the dealer's room. BUT I WAS AMAZED!!!!! @_@
This year, I'm not sure how many days I'm staying though... >_<. But I'm definitely gonna be there on Saturday. Hope to see you there!!!
I'm gonna be a freshman next year too! ^_^

Oh. Guy in really crazy cosplay totally whooping at DDR was probably Chris. He really is amazing. Had fun watching him thrash a sequence of opponents this year at one of the video game consoles, fighting them with just one hand. I think I even have some pictures of him doing the serious whomping with just the one hand. His costumes are also always top notch. ^_^

Trust me, homie. This is also my first, and I was just as giddy as you were.

I highly doubt the second part.
Was my first anime con too, but for the love of Kira keep it in your pants.
