For discussion of series that have just begun airing this season. There can't be dedicated threads for everything.
Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS:
As one might imagine, I love this series already. <3 Refer to dedicated thread.
Shinkyouku Soukai Polyphonica:
Just checked out the raw. I'm not sure I like how they started the story out. They decided to completely skip the beginning of the game and jump directly into the story without explaining Folon and Corti's circumstances or anything about the world itself. I think starting with Perse and Prin's school visit would have been a better choice. Besides that, it might be worth sticking with. I'm pretty sure I'll watch it all the way through. Corti is so cute (http://tsubasa.nu/images/snapshot20070403233617.jpg). And more Perse prease~.

WOAH?! POLYPHONICA is coming out!?
I finally get to see the whole story (hope they keep the vocab in the subs, but I highly doubt it).
Hmm... I think Hayate the Combat Butler came out this season. Actually, I'm pretty sure it did. Here's a link.
http://anime.miao.us/archives/2007/04/01/1053/#more-1053
So far the only series I've watched this season (so far) is Strikers: which is awesome in its own right.
I plan to watch Polyphonica and Hayate the Combat Butler as soon as they are subbed. Though if the subs take a long time, I might get ahold of the raws in the meantime. >.<
Two more shows of the new season have been subbed: Heroic Age and Teggen Toppa Gurren-Lagann. However the subber for Heroic Age isn't a group I've seen before.
I will likely check these two series out to see how they are.
Here's what's airing this season (http://www.moetron.com/2007/03/02/number-of-tv-premieres-this-spring-season/).
I'm probably gonna check out:
IDOLM@STER Xenoglossia
Kamichama Karin
Kaibutsu Oujou
Kono Aozora ni Yakusoku wo
Nagasarete Airantou
Hayate the Combat Butler
Shinkyoku Soukai Polyphonica
Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS
Lucky☆Star
Victorian Romance Emma Second Act
true tears
If not more. :3
Wow! Thanks for the info, Tsubasa!
Looks like I'm going to check out a ton of anime this season.
Those in bold are the things I'm hopping most for.
Claymore (I liked the manga, but that's because... uuuh *slashes someone's head off).
Kamichama Karin (just because of the artist).
Hayate the Combat Butler (Maria-san struck me as the coolest maid out there).
Idolmaster Xenoglossia (Only, and I repeat, only if the story is good).
Shinkyoku Soukai Polyphonica (I loved the concept of Polyphonica. I can learn a bit from its story, so I'll watch this regardless of animation quality).
Kaibutsu Oujou (It looks unique. What is this, Halloween... everyday?!).
True Tears (100% going to watch this. The girl with long red hair and contagious happiness was once my avatar. *salutes).
EDIT:
Just saw Claymore. The music is odd and often doesn't fit the tone. I was often asking myself if my stomach was grumbling or those weird noises were coming from the speakers. Though, hoping for a strong orchestra or some good rock music isn't totally out of the picture because I'm sure the anime has room to improve (thank God). Story-wise, it stays true to the manga, the voice acting ain't bad, and the animation is stylistic, though neither too flashy or too undercut. It's bloody, a seemingly profound trademark in medieval anime, so viewer discretion advised. However, despite my complaints, I feel that the anime has a proper grasp of fighting scenes (a highlight of any action manga) and unique characters (our protagonist, Clare, the Claymore and the abandoned boy, Kiri). I'm going to keep watching. Hope someone will try the series!
a.f.k. has released a Lucky☆Star commercial. It's available on Tosho.
Best commercial ever? Potentially....
I've already written up my impressions of the first episode of El Cazador (http://nekomimimusic.mduo13.com/archives/34/). Haven't seen anything else from this season just yet.
But ones that I plan to watch... so many possibilities.
Hayate the Combat Butler
Kisin Taisen Gigantic Formula
THE SKULLMAN
Tales of Symphonia OVA
And then I'll pick up whatever people tell me is good, probably.
And really... Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? Whoa. Dare I?

That was.... intriguing...
Hitohira:
The story of a shy girl who can't talk when she's nervous and how she gets drawn into a drama club.
I think this show shows some promise. The characters are interesting, the character designs are attractive, and the animation isn't bad. Kawasumi Ayako's character, Nono, is pretty cool too.
If anyone watches the translation by [one], be prepared for some glaring grammatical errors. XD;
Hayate no Gotoku! episode 1 is out and its in HD by Static-subs and Eclipse
Anyone going to try out Murder Princess? The manga had some nice art, and the main character is so damn spunky.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZ1qsgg2nnc
The opening warrants you to check it out!
Nightmare (ish character) v.s. Murder Princess!
Btw, girls that how to fight? = Great.
Besides... it's important to know how to defend yourself.
(Though how to kill might be excessive >_>;;)
I'm too lazy to look up the other thread where I listed the ones I intend to check out but short list:
Series:
Polyphonia
Hayate the Combat Butler
Strikers
Heroic Age
Claymore
Idolmaster Xenoglossia
Kamichama Karin (I <3 the manga)
Lucky Star
Shining Tears
Nagasarete Airantou
Sola
El Cazador de la Bruja
Sisters of Welbar
Emily of new moon
Guardian of the sacred spirit
Ohedo Rocket
Kaze no stigma
seto no hanayomi
Princess Resurrection
OVA:
Tales of Symphonia
Sakura Taisen: New York, N.Y.
Saiyuki Reload: Burial
I watched Strikers, Heroic Age, Claymore and Tengan Toppa Gurren-Lagann so far. Heroic Age and Claymore might hold promise. I'm iffy on Tengan Toppa but it might be good. And Strikers is always awesome. OwO
[Edit: Finished Hayate the Combat Butler. Its great. Quite amusing. This will definitely be one of the series that I will follow.]
hmm... what is True Tears and Kaibutsu Oujou about? O.o?
jesus sunara, that list is NOT short. lol
I'll probably check out 3-4 series and see from there. I'm always looking for unique out-of-the-box series.
j
For this season's show, so far i have watched subbed:
Claymore
Nanoha StrikerS
Going to watch Combat Butler Hayate and Touka Gettan after this.
After watching Claymore, it looks like it's a going to be a dark and bloody anime and it's fantasy to boot. I haven't watched a fantasy title in a long time, so this will be it. Of course, I'll be watching Nanoha Strikers as well.
For the new shows that I hope I get to see subbed and to watch will be RomeoXJuliet, Darker Than Black, El Cazador De La Bruja, Hitohira, Idol Master Xenoglassia, Kaibutsu Ojo, Kamichama Karin, kaze no Stigma, Kono Aozora ni Yakusoku Wo, Lucky Star, Seirei no Moribito, Polyphonica, Sisters of Wellber, Sola, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.
If you guys want to read a sypnosys of each anime show for this spring, this is a good guide for it:
http://www.animeonline.com/index.php?page=news_featured&ent_id=100943
Ah, True Tears looks nice too.... XD
@LastElixir: Short as in there will probably be additional series that I will check out.
I doubt this needs to be said, but Hayate the Combat Butler (subbed as Hayate no Gotoku) is a comedy epic... with epic voices...
I think I can identify some of the voices.
Hayate = Negima voice (As in Negima, the magical school teacher).
Nagi (the girl with blond hair) = Zero no Tsukaima/ Shana (I think)
Maria (the female maid) = ?????? I've heard this voice before. Can anyone remind me? I just love her voice. *sigh. If only there were English voice actors with voices like that...*gets shot by an English voice actor.

Nagi is right
Hayate = Kaede Nagase from Negima (Ryoko Shiraishi)
Maria = Lacus Clyne from Gundam Seed (Rie Tanaka)
I find it hilarious that Nagi is also Alphonse Elric.

Yup, you're right, Nagi's seiyuu is none other than Rie Kugimiya (who also played Rizel in Rizelmine, IIRC)
Back on the topic of that Lucky☆Star commerical, Mahora released an high-quality MKV sub of it (http://a.scarywater.net/mahora-fansubs/), complete with three different angles for your viewing pleasure! 8D ALL IN THE SPACE OF 1.5MB!
Now the question is...should it really be getting this kind of treatment...? ^^;
My list is similar to Sunara's, but I'm probably going to cut it in half after I watch most of the first episodes. XD; Ah hah... So much coming out this season.
As for the second season of Eikoku Koi Monogatari Emma-- I've never seen the first season. How is it?
Quote from: Jun-WataraseAs for the second season of Eikoku Koi Monogatari Emma-- I've never seen the first season. How is it?
Like, the slowest thing ever. I love it. XD It's the kind of series you can't appreciate unless you can just sit back and soak in the atmosphere.
Now torrenting the IDOLM@ASTER XENOGLOSSIA ep1 from [SRN].
Also hoping someone will sub the high-def Gigantic Formula soon.
Oh man. Hayate #2 and Lucky Star #1 raws are out. Want, want, WANT!
Oh yeah, I watched Xenoglossia and it's pretty damn weird.
My first thoughts with Idolmaster Xenoglossia were "Are they trying to do a Sakura Taisen thing with the idols? O.o?" and "They should have never changed the seiyuu from the originals."
Only one character sounded okay to me and that was one that wasn't in the games in the first place... -.-; It sounded like they were trying to match the voices of the originals and failing horribly...
Yukiho is <3 though. (Mine. I claim. XP ) Her being a "my pace" type is fitting. Since her character design is close to Shiori, I was kinda expecting a similar character. (Her game self does seem similar)
IM@S XENOGLOSSIA feels totally Sunrise. Doesn't fit with either of the original source works.
Might still be worth watching, but it's definitely something I have to take with a grain of salt considering my familiarity with the original games.
And give me back my Ochiai Yurika!
kthxbye
I said this before, but check out Kyou no Go no Ni if you want some laughs. It's so wrong that it's awesome. It's not this season but the OVA just ended.

The first thought I had when I saw Today in Class 5-2:
"I've never felt this much sexual tension when I was in 5th grade..."
egh, all these new series leaves zero room for catch up on everything else. Though Emma and Code Geas get special spots.
For what I have so far:
Claymore: It's good, my kind of style really....but, this was in Jump?...wow....
Hayate the Combat Butler: As most things of this nature I've come across- manga is better. Not to say that this isn't a good watch on its own, and I will stick around for being a natural fan of the series
Heroic Age: It looks....ok....they cut the main character's hair...
Nanoha Strickers: good as expected of the first episode, perhaps more.
Tengen Toppa: yea....Gainax....
Touka Gettan: I will watch, and probably as it unfolds I will have an idea of what exactly I am watching here...
Now processing:
Darker than Black
El Cazador de la Bruja
Hitohira
Xenoglossia
Nagasarete Airantou
Interested in:
Kaibutsu Ojo
Lucky Star (duh...)
Okiku Furikabutte (gay baseball?)
Romeo X Juliet
Polyphonica
Sola
Quote from: Sunara IshiYukiho is <3 though. (Mine. I claim. XP ) Her being a "my pace" type is fitting. Since her character design is close to Shiori, I was kinda expecting a similar character. (Her game self does seem similar)
I watched the show and she was totally the main reason I would consider watching more. You can't claim her: I watched it first! D:
Still waiting for some shows to get subbed. Karin, Blue Dragon, etc. Murder Princess looks maybe good, maybe bad. The music to the OP is cool.
Most recent for me is Darker than Black and Murder Princess.
Darker than Black is the same of the ol' good stuff. A particular gray haired character might catch the eye of a few of us, but it looks like it will be ok if I don't get too busy with the other shows.
Murder princess, under its actiony and upbeat exterior is actually.....kinda stupid. If you ignore the actual plot though, it's good. But omg the killer loli(s?)! Totally pulled the first episode for me.

I thought you liked Haruka at the best at first... >.>
Perhaps you weren't too clear about it around me... I dunno.. -.-
Meh... I was just playing with the claiming thing...
Well, I've been watching more stuff, so here's what I've thought so far:
Xenoglossia ep 2: wow, this show is just weird. There are a lot of annoying characters, though.
Gigantic Formula ep 1: creepy-fugly character designs but cool robots. Plot is a little strange but could be good, even if it is a little familiar-sounding ("Gigantic Formulaic, amirite?"). I think someone said there's a new animation director for ep2 and the character designs look better.
El Cazador ep 2: nice music, plot just... plain strange. As to be expected. I think Elyse and Nadi are the most moe pair in the so-called "girls with guns trilogy".
Shining Tears x Wind ep 1: bahahahaha, this is so bad that it's actually kind of funny. I mean, Tony Taka's the man, so the characters still look good even if they're just mere approximations, but the plot and the animation are just... just... silly. Like a bad RPG... just like the show is based on.
Darker Than Black ep 1: Picked this up because it has a Yoko Kanno soundtrack. Not sure what to make of it yet; seems a little bit like Witch Hunter Robin in style. The music is definitely good, though.
Lol @ Rocket Girls... Its a little odd ball but it might be good.
El Cazador's plot is kinda to be expected since its a BeeTrain series. I <3 BeeTrain series... perhaps I'm weird but I love how they flow. BTW, in the ED song, am I the only one that thinks that guy looks like Friday-Monday from Madlax? (I really need to get the last episodes of Madlax off someone... boo to missing the last two...)
Shining Tears x Wind seems interesting but the creatures in the other world make me think of furries and old fashioned fairy tales... @.@ Talking animals kinda give me a weird vibe... I prefer humanoids. kthxbye.
Man... someone needs to sub Polyphonica. T.T
Touka Gettan is really confusing but its rather interesting at the same time. I think I'll continue watching it... I'll figure out whats going on even if I have to rewatch it to make sense.... (because if I could somehow make sense of Jenki Extend, I can make sense of this.)
Sola is awesome... That guy is such a bad brother. So far I like his sister and the mysterious girl (tomato juice girl... XP ) [too many series makes it hard to remember names] I want to but a shirt like hers and cosplay her sometime.
I'm still processing the 1st ep.s of some of the new series... as well as seconds for others... XD
I think it bears repeating that Hayate the Combat Butler is made of nothing but copious amounts of win and awesome.

Acquired taste. I love it. I know people who couldn't stand for, well, the pacing more than anything else. It's a very slow and atmospheric romance drama series. Good characters. Believable setting. I found it to be pretty engaging.
it finally sank in for me... Hayate = freakin win.
j
Though I didn't really expect anything out of it, Toward the Terra is pretty good so far. XD
I <3 the mermaids in Seto no Hanayome. I'm amused. >.<

the question is, would you watch the original series from 1980, cuz ive been curious about that lol.
j
The first episode of sola has the most evil way to BS (as in the card game): "Um...I'm sorry to say this...but...let me call you on those cards." It sounds so pensive, but you totally know what's going to happen. XD
I should do that next time.
edit What the hell was up with the last minute of the episode?!

Anyways, so far this season, the shows i'm sticking with are:
Nanoha StrikerS
El Cazador
SOLA
Claymore
Lucky Star
Darker than Black
Hayate no Gotoku
RomeoXJuliet
Seirei no Moribito
Those are my winners on my list. I'll probably dump the other series and get them later as batch torrents.
Anyone wanna watch OverDrive with me? Shounen series about... BICYCLES!
keeping it low this time...
Raki Suta
Hayate no gotoku
Moonlight Mile
Darker than Black
maybe:
Seirei no moribito
Overdrive
kaibutsu oujo
nagasarete airantou for kicks

ever?
Quote from: mDuo13Also, am I crazy, or is "Friday Monday" the best name for a villain, ever?
Perhaps I'm crazy too... cause I agree. XD
So - my progress so far.
Hayate no Gotoku [4 eps] is obviously still amazing.
Shining Tears x Wind [2 eps] is hilariously bad. HILARIOUSLY bad.
El Cazador [3 eps] is everything I expected, but better animated. <3
Gigantic Formula [3 eps] is kind of lame. But I do like the robot designs.
iDOLM@STER XENOGLOSSIA [3 eps] is strange and kind of lame. I don't know why I'm still watching it.
Darker Than Black [3 eps] is pretty interesting. Kind of episodic but worthwhile so far.
Lucky Star [3 eps] is, well, you guys know already. A little close to boring, but silly & fun.
Omg! OMG! YES! Yesy has released ep1 of polyphonica! XD XD XD
My list is still huge but I've fallen a lil behind in some series. Am I the only one watching Touka Gettan and Toward the Terra?
I haven't been watching torrent sites for the past couple of weeks, so I've fallen behind on pretty much everything.
*creates 12-torrent queue of El Cazador, Hayate, Lucky Star, and Darker Than Black*

Finally checked it out. Four episodes in. I'm liking it so far, but it hasn't really kicked off yet. It's your standard shounen underdog-with-passion-takes-up-something-and-becomes-good-at-it story.
Something that has to be said: the main girl, although pretty, is just a tad too realistic. I guess it's a difference from the usual.

I really wish there were more releases of polyphonica.. Its such a great series. Its a pity.
I'm going to hold out awhile hoping that there'd be more releases but worst case scenario, I'll have to leech raws off someone. But I hope yesy continues their usual trend and eventually finished it.

From this season, I'm currently working on Hitohira, Overdrive, and Nanoha StrikerS. StrikerS stuff I'll toss in the main StrikerS thread; Overdrive I haven't started on; Hitohira looks promising, and I'm going to be watching more.

Finally picked up Seto no Hanayome. Not bad so far - similar story device to Onegai Teacher, but with mermaids/mermen instead of alien teachers.
I read this thread, and it takes a long while for me to realize it's of the yesteryear. Overdrive still not completely subbed - @ 23. I believe I watched until 21. And it makes me sad to see the pace of Oofuri subs. I wonder when I'll ever get around to finishing these 2 good series lawl (Sorta ironic, if I reflect upon myself but whatever).
Thread revive!
I finished Seto. It was pretty good. Not always to my taste, but the ending was pretty solid. LAST AMAZONES ftw.
I've still only seen up to ep 10 of Oofuri. But I guess the licensed version is coming out not that long from now?
The fact that I'm this behind, though, is pretty sad.
