this company is fairly new in doing the free internet thing...Do you think it will work in the sjcc? or at least around the outside?

Since i've been going to the fanime staff meetings, I have been able to get online using their service on my laptop. So basically, it works. You can do live updates from the con and stuff lol

Ooh, I wonder if this'll work in the hotels, seeing as how internet at the Hilton is like, $10 a night ><''

For me, it's barely stable enough to do anything except fly around mining nodes in Netherstorm (epic flying mounts rule!).

MetroFi works sporadically in parts of the SJCC and in the hotel meeting rooms, but I find it to be slow and flaky. Also, I don't think the free WiFi stretches upwards too well, so I think it's unlikely to get service in the hotel rooms, especially on the upper floors.
MetroFi's uploading is also very poor. I tried uploading a measly 2MB file through it, and it kept dropping me. Checking mail and IM work fine, but I wouldn't count on anything more network-intensive than that.
I wasn't even able to connect to Metro-Fi in the meeting rooms. It failed me utterly. Half the time my laptop won't even detect it, and when it does, it won't connect to it and gives an error message. :evil:

Blargh :( Maybe I'll bring my laptop down into the meeting rooms or something, so I can at least check my email. The idea of letting my spam build up for six days rather terrifies me. o.O
(hi Kava! I know you.. *stalk*)
We had an area for free internet last year :P

Yeah, there will be an internet cafe somewhere, which I believe will have free wifi access.
*waves at MB* Didn't know you'd be coming to this con. ^-^
Yep :D Dragging Twisty with me as well.
I'm glad there'll be free internet somewhere, so I can at least check once or twice, and send my folks a note letting them know I didn't like, fall off the airplane or something. They're silly, and tend to worry too much ><;;
I remember being able to get wireless when I was there last year. I was in the ddr area. For people staying at the Marriott I believe internet is free or at least thats what my buddy told me.
If you're staying at the Sainte Claire, internet is free.
The Internet Lounge will be located in the Convention Hall near the Hilton side, next to Exhibit Hall 3. For those coming up from the Ground level, it's on the second floor above the Starbucks cafe.....
Free internet? Hmm, if I could hook up a wireless router, we could have pokemon wi-fi battles...

why would we need to have wifi battles when we're all in the same place? couldn't we just do wireless DS to DS?
