Has anyone here played the new GG AC? I played it and it was hella sick!!!! The new Force breaks and some of the hidden moves give all the characters a new edge compared to slash! Some characters from the previous Slash installment have been modified and more balanced. Holy Order Sol's moves have been improved so much that you can now consider him a 'broken' character. They toned down his 'Destroyer' combo so its easier to do with well-timed button presses. Discuss.
Here are some combos for the game with each character.

omg...i can't believe i didn't make this thread myself! and to think, i was just on the dustloop forums...
i played this game at fanime too! and man, oh man...lol...i dont know what to say. i CRIED. literally. tears went down my cheeks for numerous reasons.
1. new character select screen. i prefer the old one, but this one's pretty sweet/classic. new character art to boot!
2. Kuradoberi Jam. omg...she is queen once again. I CAN PUT 4 RYUUJIN IN A FREAKIN' ROW! now THAT, by any and all means is made of WIN. (if you can't tell, i use jam. i think i was one of the only ones using her. anyone remember me?)
3. wallstick and sliding. whoaaaaaa...how the hell did arc come up with that? bloody brilliant.
4. (and this one is just me) a nerfed ky = a well deserved LOL.
only one drawback: the announcer glitch. well, it's not really a glitch. it just sounds REALLY, REALLY HORRIBLE.
I play it from time to time since it's been released for JP PS2.
I'm a May player. Have been since GGX. Dolphin loops = <3. I lack consistency right now, but I can do two reps from time to time. Not bad for someone who hasn't spent much time practicing them.
May as high tier, I finally have a reason to play Guilty Gear again.
May is pretty great in the hands of people who do know how to use her. I just plain out suck with May. And as you can probably tell with my sig, you'll know who my characters are already. I knida like how the selection screen looks now and I like how it looks like the girls on the May ship 'grew' up. They looks pretty smexy now. lawlz.
And yea, the new announcer is G-A-Y!!!!!!!
They nerfed Anji.
I've started work on Ky and Order Sol.
Quote from: SpiritsnareThey nerfed Anji.
I've started work on Ky and Order Sol.
I personally think it's a shame to give up on a character just cause they've been adjusted. As far as I'm concerned, Anji's just back to where he always belonged: low. So he needs to consume meter like crazy now. He can still be played well.
from what i read, ky got kicked down a few notches, too. i think he lost a lot of his priority, iirc

Going from A to bottom is a rather big change. And by bottom, I mean that the last ranking list I saw he was the very bottom.
Ky was like D tier IIRC as well.
Well, I suppose I've just never been one to play by tiers. I usually stick to my characters from one iteration of a game to the next.
Huh, never knew Ky was low-tier. If I could beat Chun's crazy A.B.A, I know I've done something right.
I guess I'll experiment with the rest of the cast (looking at'cha, Bridget and Johnny), and see who else I can pick up.
Quote from: SpiritsnareHuh, never knew Ky was low-tier. If I could beat Chun's crazy A.B.A, I know I've done something right.
<3 Key of Doom.
This is my priority/skill list from best known down (For Slash).
1. Millia Rage
2. Dizzy
3. Kuradoberi Jam / A.B.A (New Face)
A.B.A also plays a bit different than Isuka's iteration. I've been playing Millia since the beginning, but Dizzy was the first one I tried. Jam is just fun fun Chinagirl combo-styling.
I need to learn about these "25% tension" moves if I want to improve. I was really only playing 50%.
~Chun
i was pretty much a Jam kinda guy since i first started playing. it was a toss-up between her and millia, and i didn't really care much for the way millia fought (kung fu wins again! :D ), so Jam it was!
i then tried taking on Dizzy as a secondary. i ended up focusing on her less and less as time went on. i'm half-way decent with her, but i'm nowhere near as consistent with her pressure strings as i should be if i really intend on using her.
then Bridget came into my life. i'm still trying to get a grasp on him, but i know that i'm doing a helluva lot better with him than i ever did with DI. i wonder why...
and, just to piss one of my friends off, i dabble in playing Potemkin. he can be fun/ny to play as.
i haven't played slash much at all, so im still in the phase of learning to read A.B.A. and OS. i'll be able to do that once /\C gets a domestic release later this month
I also believe that Accent Core will be played at EVO World this year, instead of Slash.
But Slash will still be at EVO West. I read about that somewhere on the SRK forums.
Interesting I think.
From what I hear, the qualifiers/prelims will be in Slash but the finals or whatever will be in Accent Core which, tbh isn't that big a deal unless you're maining Anji or someone in Slash and haven't had much practice on AC >_>
OK, so Tsubasa showed me some crazyass Potemkin videos and I'm thinking about making him my tertiary.
Quote from: SpiritsnareOK, so Tsubasa showed me some crazyass Potemkin videos and I'm thinking about making him my tertiary.
yeah, PO is pretty jacked up. i try to use him every once in a while, but i dont really know how to focus on him.
a lot of my strategy w/him is turtle till they run in, punish w/PB, and do a lot of j.D
Hehehe, I recent;y picked up Slayer, I used to be a Millia and Jam player, but they are way too different for me to use. I am more of a Bridget player, but my Slayer is already going past my Bridget, And I am now starting to us Dizzy, I'm actually really good even though I'm not using her the way shes supposed to be used.
eew...slayer's too much, especially with that new uppercut thingamabob he has.
btw, i finally picked up the domestic PS2 release. maniac CPU = wtf.
sounds like another reason to have a mini J-Con
does anyone have a domest Ps2 version?
I'm willing to open up my home (with a nice big screen) and plent of room.
I'm rather lame when it comes to the GG series, but might as well start from somewhere and watch you REAL players so I could hope to learn a thing or two. :-X
I've got the NA version. They fixed all the bugs from the japanese version...
Say, I just had a smashing idea. How many of you live in/near San Jose?
T_T
why does nothing ever happen in SF?
Because nobody loves you :)
In all seriousness...it's probably because a lot of people live in San Jose. But for some reason, I don't think many people would be up for a GG gathering anyhoo...
GG gathering? Sounds interesting.
I hope I get this game for giftday (Dec 25), or beforehand.
there are WAY too many games i want to buy, and not enough money to get them all...

i think the only way you can get your hands on a factory sealed copy of this puppy now is by ordering it through Aksys' website.
http://www.aksysgames.com/
last i checked, very few GameStops actually have this in stock. i remember when i went to get mine (which i reserved), i asked the dude behind the counter how many copies of the game they received, and they said they only got 3, and 2 were reserved. their website also stated that that particular store wouldn't be receiving any further shipments of it
PS2 version, or Wii version? The Wii version's ubiquitous (I see it EVERYWHERE) but I indeed can't find the PS2 version anywhere.
You all serious? I usually see the ps2 version where ever I go...I didnt think it was such a hard game to find ._.
We would be playing the (superior) PS2 version.
I've never tried the Wii version, I wonder how that like ?, but it would be better if you bring the PS2 version.

It would probably play the same as the PS2 version, but thats if you're playing it using the classic controller/gamecube controller/hori arcade sticks.
If you're playing it using the wimote/nunchuck combo, it will DEFINITELY play a lot differently.

Despite everyone who's played both versions saying that the PS2 version has a better control scheme. And I don't hate EVERYTHING nintendo. Just most of it's recent stuff. :)

20 Frame FRC windows.
layman's terms - FAIL.

I see, I'm still going to try it out the Wii version just for fun.
Now that we have the version down...how are we gonna do this? invade somebody's house or something?
And as for you, Emerge, I formally challenge thee. I've been meaning to play you for awhile now.
Bump. :)

i humbly accept.
however, my biggest problem is transportation. i dont drive and i live in SF. any ideas of how we might pull this off?
Excellent question...Are there any arcades in SF that have AC? if so, then i'll just come to you for the duel.
the only one i've heard of (i have not confirmed this for myself, although i should) is at SFSU. i'm not sure if Riptide has it, but if they do it might not be in repair. my friends tell me some pretty bad things about arcade maintenance there
oh hello sry im a little late to the thread ive been playing for a little bit i play as either slayer or anji ive ben playing scince isuka and i like accent core mucho beter i think ive seen one in riptide but im not sure i walked by it after jtaf and i was mainlythinking about clam chowder im not very good cause i havent been practicing recently -_- so any way hows it going
Wow, its been forever since I've been here but yup yup. I changed up my roster to be Slayer, Bridget, and Zappa. I'm gonna start modding my Tekken stick by hori with maybe..... Happ parts.
I would play anyone in SJ, if I still lived there. :(

Where do you live now?
Well.... I moved out of state and now live in Colorado. Theres a couple of good people over here. You can check out our match vids on youtube. Search for the name kinglowtier and look at his profile. I'm not on any of those match vids but you can check out my local competition. I'm pretty much not as good as most of these guys but I'm still practicing.
Dammit :-[ I only have three, maybe four people to play against regularly...I'm in desperate need of competition.
haha if you were to play me you could win fairly quickly but im learning ^_^
Lol. Don't worry luckyends, you'll probably pick up this game quickly and be able to be beasting on everyone pretty soon. I picked it up and started smashing with Bridget and you don't wanna know how quickly I learned that Slayer. I was getting perfects in no time!!!!! I smash on this one guy whos played for years and no, HE is the scrub lol.
Is there anyone in the Sunnyvale/Santa Clara/San Jose area?

yeah ive been training for a bit and i have trouble even beeting normal mode i think im trying to hard to do combos =P
Don't worry again luckyends..... within a week or two of awesome practice..... you will beast on Expert mode in a flash..... plus..... the comp really sucks anyway. I caught on to the comp's styles really quickly but Pot is the only one who gives me trouble. lol. I think the only realy competition out there are the other players you'll find somewhere.
i was able to find a copy of GG:/\C(brand new, too!) while down in the anaheim area over the weekend; havent gotten time to play it, but i'll give it a run when i get the chance.

Riptide sucks these day.. i do not think they will get GGAC for not anytime soon...which is very sad... better luck going to SF state or the golflands in the east bay.
i find it funny im cosplaying anji mito yet im starting to play as slayer more =P awell well see and i found a person to chalenge we play every weekend and hes geting beter he playes as zapa so look for us at fanime ^_^
we should have a tourney at fanime like we did last year!
with /\C, of course. i've finally got the concept jam's 6H, H loop, and i need to see if i can pull it off against people! ;D
Lol emerge, you finally got that down? My friend after a little bit of reading and practice, he got it down on me a few times but always messed it up out of pressure. But he is more of a Testy player, and I'm the Slayer plaayer, while our other friend is an Eddie player. We are able to make combo vids but I end up messing up mine because I always forget how to do them under pressure, and I seem to do the same combo every time.
I got to work on my style, so I can be beasting on others soon lol.
Luckyends: good luck and I hope you and your friend get better. Slayer is pretty weird at first but once you get used to him, you'll be beasting on people non-stop. And your friend using Zappa? I hope he can get his frc's down for his moves. Goodluck to the both of you guys.
yeah, it took me a while to get out of a #Reload state of mind where 6H is COMPLETELY unsafe on block, so i almost never used it until i picked /\C up.
i haven't had much experience in playing other people in it yet considering the only other guy i know who plays GG personally lives in Hercules and we don't really see each other that often. oh, well...eventually! ^_^;
lol Emerge, it seems like not many people in your immediate area play any gg. It can get crazy playing other people though, you'll never know what happens between other players. Jam is a really interesting character, so you'll find yourself doing things you never did in #R or /. As long as you get the basics down, which you should have, you can be destroying people soon once you get used to fighting other players.
I played gg agaisnt other players for the first time in awhile last night...... Great stuff. I won like...... 50% of the time but lost to my new friend Alex 100% of the time I played him. His Baiken is beastly, good enough to take out 3rd in state's Baiken. Looks like I'll be practicing non-stop from now on and also try to get some Marvel time in lol.
yeah, i haven't really played many people outside of my buddy and the 4-5 people i played at fanime '07.
i think i have the b&b of jam down pat. most of my game revolves around IAD pressure strings with the occasional 236S > * mixed in for good measure. i've yet to truly measure my /\C skills, which i know for a fact are of a different plane than my #R skills (i didn't really touch / at all. i probably played it like 4-5 times, tops). one major thing is that charge cards cant be used "on their own" anymore and instead took over the ability to link her 3 kicks. that really threw me off guard.
also, puffball FB is win.
Blah. We seriously need to get together somewhere and have a throwdown GG style. I don't care where it's at (so long as it's somewhere near Santa Clara/Sunnyvale/San Jose, and maybe SF if i'm in the mood), be it arcade or home. Any one willing to let strangers into their home to play GG? ;D
pm magz, SJSU seems to have dropped playing Melty Blood for GGAC for whatever reason.
If I still lived there, you guys would hella be over playing gg with me. I guess we would be able to get serious if I moved back over there. I would hold ranbats like.... every 2 weeks.
I forgot to mention that I bought a copy after GiftDay (for PS2).
waaaaaahhh! SJSU stole my /\C cabinet!
...from SFSU.
T_T
Mwaha! The SC/SV/SJ area seems to be where the scene is at these days...poor emerge.
Anyone live in the San Bernadino County Area? (South California) I've been playing GG for about a year and a half but only using the controller. lol The arcade stick has always been difficult for me but my friend let me borrow his for a while so.. i'm starting to practice again. I used to be decent with Ky but i'm looking at Bridget and Slayer atm. Just wondering if anyone is in my area... perhaps we could have a few duels. =p
I guess Slayer and Bridget are being used pretty widely now lol. I remember being one of the only Bridget players and picking Slayer lol. Bridget is hard to use but is so sick, Slayer is just..... pimp. I basically swear by the arcade stick by the way and can't use the controller because I suck with it lol.

wow...talk about opposite end of the spectrum. :D
i'm a total d-pad head. i cant even 236236 on a stick; a good 60% of the time a 623 is all that comes out. i use buri as a secondary. nowhere near as good as my jam. most of the time i just try to 2D > 6H > 236H pressure w/an IAD 2S (probably not my best option) here and there. to be honest, most of my game w/bridget is building tension for (yo-yo)632146H.
slayer, on the other hand...i barely touch that fool. i can't. especially now w/that FB uppercut thing? ugh...
I'm equally skilled with both stick and pad. 8)
The funny thing is.... I started on pad. When I first picked up a stick, I thought it was too hard to use. But as I got more time to actually practice with one, I got so use to it, that going back to controller was beginning to get harder and harder. So I stuck with the stick. FRCs are now a thing of the past to me, I just hate how you have to have perfect timing with that.
And Slayer's BBU may be cheap, but it'll lose to a real upper lol.
I can't believe this topic just died here. But no worries, I'm back. Anyone want to discuss more about this game? Or should i just go back to dustloop?
i use a pad, still trying to get accustomed to playing on stick....and i haven't played GGAC in AGES.
also, i don't know any of the technical speak, so all of the shit that Emerge put up three posts ago i don't fucking understand at all.

The numbers are the directions on the pad/stick:
b.jump l jump l f.jump
7 8 9
Back 4 Neutral(5) 6 direction character is facing
1 2 3
Defensive Crouch l crouch l offenseive crouch
IAD is Instant Air Dash, you jump in a certyain direction, and then hit that direction again to dash instantly.
FB is a Force Break
P is punch
K is kick
S is slash
HS is High/Hard slash
D is dust
A stick set-up is:
789 K S HS
456 P D

No problem man. I never understood all that either till I looked around a bit. I thought that it would be more like the mainstream stuff and go qcf+p for the 'fireball' moves but its like 236+P.
