I was thinking of cosplaying as someone from a chinese movie. Does anyone know how to make their um...dress thingy?(or what I could use as a patter for it) The one that sorta looks like a kimono but is open in the front(you can see the tube top) and is loose at the bottom. (it also has river sleeves attached to it)I couldn;t find a picture for it, because I couldn't figure out what it was called.
Off topic: I was also thinking of putting my 6 years of ballet classes to good use and doing a very simple dance. Should I go through with that? (Thinking about this early incase I decide to do it and so there will be time to get myself flexible again. xD how sad...)
hmm... maybe the best bet would be to take a normal kimono pattern and modify it? Either modify the kimono or the kimono jacket pattern. (the haori) You'd probably want to exchange the default kimono sleeves for ones more like what you are referring to.
I think that would be rather nice to do a dance. Depends on if you're willing to take the time to do it. Especially if people keep asking you to repeat it. X.x;

That's what i was thinking of doing, but was hoping there was an actual pattern or something. Well, back to plan A. Thank you so much for your suggestion. ^_^
Ooo...the dance, I was thinking of doing it for the masqarade. I would soooo not repeat it zillion times over and over again...My legs would be like jello by the end of the day. xD
I am still debating over it...don't want it to be crappy and have people be like "WTF?!" O_O
true. If it wasn't for the masquerade, you could always decide last minute not to do it.
I guess just try to get it down before the last day to register for skits... so you can decide whether to do it or not. Probably would be best to have someone that can judge it for you.
I don't have the nerve to dance in front of people anymore... not by myself. Not since elementary when I danced for a talent show and all the kids made fun of me. But then, all the kids at that school made fun of me anyway... >.>; Now violin.. maybe. Just cause it would be nice to perform at the CPA again. >.<
Anyway... good luck with it. >.<
Thank you. ^_^
My mom shall be the judge. I soooo need to get myself flexible again...if that wn't happen then there will be no dance. xD
Knods. Depends on how flexible. There's certain types that are hard to regain... say raising your leg to your face or putting your legs behind your head... >.>; Sometimes its almost impossible because your joints and tendons have hardened and stiffened up.
No offense but it might be better to get someone other than a parent, grandparent, etc. They tend to be rather biased and don't often tell you the hard truth.
Get someone like a friend. Or someone from the same or similar dance class; someone that can give you tips on what to change or things to add. Someone that will be able to criticize you properly and won't hold back negative criticisms.
uh, just thought, are any of the patterns at the folkwear site close to what you want?
http://www.folkwear.com/asian.html
My mom can be harsh when it comes to my dancing. xD...I love it.
Ooo...I'll check that website, thank you!!!
for the jacket are you talking about something like this? <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-CHINESE-JACKET-Folkwear-sewing-PATTERN-114_W0QQitemZ120203236915QQihZ002QQcategoryZ4161QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem">ebay link</a>
the Folkwear company doesn't make the pattern anymore, but it's on ebay for cheap.
Those all are close enough. Thank you very much. ^_^
