I wanted to say thank you to all of you who showed up for 09. Sorry that I got so delayed and missed you ^^( The protesters came and everything shifted to a SHARP Left for most of the day. I would like to schedule this for the afternoon in 2010. I am thinking of Friday for several reasons. So if you are interested in this gathering or you have any pics of Beat Peeps please post them and let us know where to see them (the URL).

Dang... it just figures that there would be a gathering that might actualy include other characters from Harukanaru Toki no Naka de... now that I'm making costumes from the 3rd game in that series.
I may have to haul out my old Shimon or Akram now just for this gathering. (the former far more likely than the latter, sadly).

Oooo, I spotted an Akram at Fanime one or two years back. Could that have been you? You do Shimon also? I am working on a Yorihisa cosplay but am not sure I will have it ready by May. :-\

That would have been me, since I'm the only one I know of outside of Europe or Japan. XD
The costume has taken a few improvements since then, I think, though quite a bit of wear and tear as well.
Shimon's only problem is that I go through a new pair of (impossible to find) green socks every con and have yet to find a wig that isn't terrible. I have an Inori as well, but she lives in Minnesota. ;_;
Anyway~ Good luck on Yorihisa! I'll be sure to pounce you at con if I see you there. ^_^

Konnichiwa Beat Peebles!
I was looking to set up the gathering info and I was looking at the following possibilities:
Friday: 6:30 pm
Saturday: 4:30 pm
Sunday: 6 pm
Monday: 1:30 pm (with everyone checking out I know how crazy it gets! ^^)
What do you think? Let's decide on a day and time ASAP. There are many Beat titles that do not have their gathering info posted so I thought I would nail this down so that they could adjust their schedules.

Well, the Shonen Jump gathering is on Sunday at 2, so I've no problem with either Saturday at 4:30 or Sunday at 6:00. Friday at 6:30 might not be bad, either. I don't remember how dark it got in the early evening, but having the shoot inside (depending on size) might be okay...

Oh nooo...college + upcoming finals have reduced my stamina and athleticism to almost nothing. Thanks for your enthusiasm. I think I will be the only one there doing SA -_- good and bad thing I guess. But I just realized I want to cut my hair soon, possibly before fanime, just because I always cut it around this time of year. That will put my hair length somewhere between Hikari's and Akira's. Ehhhh tea and snacks is sounding a little more appealing now than wrestling now that you mention it >.<

I just wanted to thank all of the "Beat" cospeeps that showed up for the gathering. I can now explain the time change that happened. I had invited Viz Media to come out and shoot the Shonen Jump gathering & had hoped that they would cover Shojo Beat as well. When they contacted me that they were sure they were coming they said that they would be there for both gatherings & would put some raffle gifts together *YEAH! I was surprised that Shojo Beat Magazine was able to come out & VERY happy that they did! Vampire Knight this was definitely your year eh! ^^)
I will post any links or info I get from them here so that all of you can find out. Thank you for coming out and representing your favorite "Beat" title. I now need to find a mega phone & get my Beat cosplay together for 2009 ^^)

That was a delightful surprise, B, many many thanks for arranging for Viz Media AND Shojo Beat Mag to take pictures. I'm glad the Vampire Knight group was there, as well as cosplayers from Skip Beat and Nana (I think I'm missing someone). We need more representation of the different titles!
I only needed 30 minutes to change from my Jump cosplay to my Beat cosplay, even with slow elevators!

I also attended the Shojo Beat gathering, and it definitely was a nice surprise! I wasn't even sure if I was going to make it but I gladly changed from Kiba to Yuki and had a fantastic time taking pictures with the rest of the Vampire Knight group... anybody get any pictures? o:
And thank you again for inviting Viz and Shojo Beat magazine! I was taken aback and was worried that my cosplay didn't have some important things like Yuki's necklace... oh well. Thank you again. I look forward to next year's gathering!!

Although I'm torn! I have my Day Class Yuuki Cross or my new cosplay... Maora from Shinshi Doumei Cross (complete with a Okorimakuri :3). But I'll definitely be going. ;D
Ok Beat peeps! Are you getting ready for 2009? Do you have something new in mind for the Beat gathering? I sure do ^^) but it will be a surprise *giggles. I don't think I can top last year, but this time I am hoping to cosplay..... from something irregular *LOL but I don't want to get anyone's hopes up so I will wait to see if I can pull this off before I post more as to what I am cosplaying.
It was great to see everyone last year, but I wonder how many we will get this year? I was also looking to move this gathering to possibly Saturday.... With the Shonen weekly, Jump and Beat gatherings I want to make sure everyone can make it this time... *cough cough Ouran Host *cough cough and I knew that Viz was showing up last year so I had to schedule this gathering to accommodate them if they could only attend one day... so what do you think?

Ohh, I see! Well, I'm personally hoping that the gathering is on the early afternoon of the masquerade day (I'm doing VK for the masq), so if the masquerade is indeed on Saturday then I'm fine with a gathering that day in the afternoon. :3 You might not want to decide on a specific time so early then, especially since we don't know the schedule until the months before the con; maybe it should be decided on then once we all get an idea of what we're doing? Iono~ :3
I'd like to be there as Headmaster Cross (Kaien) from Vampire Knight if I don't end up with any conflicts from something else.
B - I will most likely be Yorihisa again from Harukanaru toki no naka de. If I change my mind (maybe I'll find some FABULOUS new character to cosplay :o) I'll let you know. But put me down for Yorihisa for now, please (I still need your mailing addy, too, for the SB magazine)

I'm sorry guys, but I don't think I'll be able to participate in the gathering anymore, much less cosplay as Rima Tohya. Life happened, and well, stuff came up, and it doesn't look like it will be happening this year. I can probably go take pictures, but beyond that, I don't think so. Very sorry!
I wanted to toss this idea out there....
I am planning to participate in the Masq (and may not be the only one?), which as noted (thank you B!!) is likely to be Saturday.
It's occurring to me and a couple others that an afternoon gathering for Shojo Beat is going to conflict with what we need to do get ready with our costumes.
I don't know if it would be possible to suggest moving up the SB Gathering to a little before lunch??
It's okay if it can't be moved. If that time works for the majority of the people, then stick to it.

Well... The time may need to move for this. I was thinking of moving the Beat gathering to either 11:00 am on Saturday or 6 pm on Sunday. The only other option is Friday @ 6:30 PM?

6 on Sunday would mean the Vampire Knight gathering could be right after that, so that would make it real easy and awesome for me. So that's my vote.
I'll do my best if the majority vote a different way to work with what comes up.
(I've also changed my plans so I don't expect I'll be in the Fanime Masq this year, but others might be.)

I think my friend wants to borrow my second outfit so she'll be running around with me. I'm going to try to make some mini kyoko shinigami so i can like cling it on people and what not so put me up please! ^^
Oh poop i just realized that this is just an hour after the ace attorney gathering so i'm not going to make it to this one T.T but you'll probably see me and my friend running around DX

Thank you to all those who came out to 09's gathering. I was told by someone that I don't have all the "Beat" titles up on the list (1st post) so if anyone knows of any I am missing Please post them.
For 2010 I would like to move this gathering to Friday evening (thinking 6:30) but I know that it is way to early to be setting the time or day. I just wanted to give my Beat peeps a heads up.
As for Beat no longer being available... let us hope they move it to an online magazine... *crosses fingers*

I'll be going to Fanime 2010 for the first time in my life! <3 I was too busy this year to go. This will be the first anime convention that I'll be attending. Hooray for Shojo Beat gathering! Now I have to decide if I will be there as Nekozawa from Ouran or Yuuki from Vampire Knight, it will all depend on the day its being held XD

Shojo Beat the magazine may be gone but the titles we love are still going strong in manga and anime! So come out and show your support! Represent your fav character and build up the BEAT!

2010 might be the last time I run this gathering for a while. With the mag not in circulation anymore, everyone doing individual gatherings of beat titles, and the demands of my department I am just unsure if everyone wants this gathering. There are lots of great titles and it has the potential to be huge like Jump is, but there just aren't enough peeps that come to this gathering. So Beat peeps prove me wrong and make this gathering a big success and I will gladly keep doing it.
I hope that Friday afternoon works for everyone, I was thinking of having it at 6:30 pm so that many of the Beat peeps can make it to this, what does everyone think?
My input:
6:30 would mean I would have to miss joining SB. Conflicts with another gathering.

I was thinking of all the VK cospeeps and how late evening photos are awesome! I could go to 7 if that would work? Is the other gathering you are attending DOGS? I wanted to sneak over there in between C v SNK & Beat to take a few pics :) I would really like to do this in the early evening, no later than 7:30 pm cause we would loose the light.
If Capcom V SNK stays at its usual 5pm slot on Friday I will be there in cosplay. Fight Games and Guilty Gear/Blaze Blue look to be Friday also, but they aren't set as of yet.
I just want this to go over with a bang this year.... Humm suggestions?
Actually, it'd be the Saiyuki gathering...we're locking that in around 5:30 on Friday. And I'd never be able to change in time--already learned that lesson last year not making it to the VK gathering for that reason.
As for VK, I haven't seen any plans for a gathering for it this year, which is rather surprising!
I'm thinking about going as Kanae Kotonami from Skip Beat! Just depends if I can get the pink jumpsuit done in time. I'm also working on cosplays for a bunch of my friends, so I may not have the time to make it. For now, put me down as maybe. As long as it's Friday, I'll be able to attends, timewise.

Where did all by Shojo Beat cospeeps go :( I was really hoping that 2010 would be a good year and that we would get at least 10 titles represented!
As of now I have no Nana, Honey Clover, Beauty Pop, and only 2 Ouran High School Host Club which have all been represented in the past years. Well there is two months left... and I'm sure that they will come out and represent! Yeah! :)
I will probably cosplay as Yorihisa from Harukanaru again this year (am working on several new cosplay and may not have a chance to get a new SB cosplay done in time). Looking forward to seeing everybody!

Actually, 4:30 works better for me! I'm also in the karaoke contest and I'd like to have as much down time between the gathering and the start of that as possible. (Thinking about it now, 6:30 would've interfered with it too. I didn't even realize!)
I did finish my LoveMe jumpsuit, BTW, so I'm definitely going to be coming as Moko-san(Kanae) from Skip Beat! I'm really looking forward to this! ^_^

I wanted to make sure if anyone visits this thread that they can find the photo's I took for 2010. As for bringing this gathering back for 2011.... I am looking to merge it with Ouran Host possibly. For now :'( I won't be bringing it back officially unless I get a large response.
Thank you to all the Cosplayers who have come out and supported their Shojo Beat titles in the past couple of years. It has been wonderful to see the different characters and I hope that the love will continue on.
