Title: hey i got a problem with my cosplay or something i got to fiqure out...
Post by: clawmaster on March 12, 2008, 07:43:42 PM
hey I am planning to cosplay as the engieer from team fortess 2 and I was looking around for the wrench I need for my cosplay. Thing is its not an ordinary wrench its an old fashion wrench. heres a pic of what it looks like.

(https://forums.fanime.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi147.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fr307%2Fclawmaster_2006%2FTeamFortress2.jpg&hash=30fe3d68b0e299a478a461d805f82b3c60e5a756)

look at the wrench hes holding. anyways I looked around for a wrench like that and I did find what I need (http://farm-craft-supplies.com/wrenches.htm (http://farm-craft-supplies.com/wrenches.htm))  but the thing is I could also make a card bored version of it. so I am asking would the con let me have a metal object carrying around for one day or 2?

Try this web site (second from the bottom)
http://www.robotmonkeylab.com/Monkeyshop/MonkeyShop.htm

I don't know what they'll charge you, but it's worth asking.  It's got to be lighter then the real metal thing.  I think they'd let you have real one, so long as it's peace bonded...but that's gonna get super heavy.  The styrofoam one is not only safer, but so much lighter.

EDIT...realized I didn't complete my thought or even address your actual question.  Oops, fixed now.

toilet paper rolls and crafty foam, along with a bit of styrofoam would be cheaper, Especially if you do it your self. lol Of get a fischer price toddler tool and paint in black. O_o

thx for your advice you guys. well as u guys were giving advice I just went with the cardbored method. making the whole wrench in card bored to its right dimensions. then I am going to spray paint it black and use a bit of steel spray paint. I do have one question. anyone know how to harden cardbored?

Even if it were allowed, your arm would get super tired. Wrenches that style and size weigh a -ton-.

Well I don't know about Fanime (1st time going this year) But at AnimeExpo last year they wouldn't let our Winry from FMA carry her small metal wrench so we snuck it in! lol!

So, I don't know about the weapons policy yet but try making it out of something you KNOW will pass through inspections

I would either go with the toddler one if you can find it... or the styrofoam
