For FanimeCon 2008 I thought of try something that hasn't been done before (that I know of) at a convention.. hopefully this might work. Besides the usual CvS, KOF, DOA, GGX, SC, etc. gatherings, with the popularity of the fighting-engine MUGEN, perhaps we could try to have a M.U.G.E.N. Fighting-Game Gathering at Fanime!
If you're not familiar with MUGEN, here's some info:

And there are TONS of videos to watch of these made-up matches on YouTube. From video-games (SF, KOF, DOA, GG, even Final Fantasy & Zelda)to anime (Naruto, Bleach, etc.) and even non-anime characters (Family Guy, Simpsons, etc.) there's so much variety to choose from.
Here's how the gathering will work:
If you're interested in joining the gathering, please state the character you'll be cosplaying, and if possible, the particiular game-version your character is from. (example: Ryu can be from SFAlpha, Street Fighter 3, or Evil Ryu) There are also fan-made creations of characters such as "Dark Chun-Li" which if anyone wants to make for the gathering, that's also acceptable.
REQUIREMENT: Since this is a different type of gathering, and there's lots of characters to choose from, I have a request: when you reply please post a link to a video, picture, or webpage that shows that your character is in-fact a playable character on MUGEN. Here's an example of what I'll be cosplaying as:

It's up to you if you can wear the specific costume for your character, but it's not necessary. Repeat characters & costumes are allowed. When it's time for the gathering: When we gather everyone up, we'll just do a big-group picture, and then do an all MUGEN guys picture and then an all MUGEN girls picture and then another group shot for those who arrived late. Maybe it'll be a big turn-out!

How about naming this the "General Anime/Game Character Gathering", seeing as EVERYTHING can be put into MUGEN?
why would you cosplay characters from another game and embarrass yourself saying you belong to Mugen? Which is like... the worst fighter ever? (it's not really even a fighter)

Listen the gathering is name Mugen there for, Mugen characters are the ones that are being aloud and how is Mugem the worst fighter game, you surely have seen street fighter 2024.

Ok, basically what it comes down to is this. Saying you're cosplaying as MUGEN is like saying you're cosplaying a character (Such as Lenalee) from JUMP All-Stars. Lenalee is from D.Gray Man. So you're NOT cosplaying JA-S, you're cosplaying a D.Gray Man character. Same for MUGEN. If the character already has a respective series, why the hell would you make yourself look stupid and say "I'm from MUGEN"? The characters in Mugen, unless original and DEVIANT from another anime/manga series, are all from RESPECTIVE series.
P.S. MUGEN is horrible because there's no standard/statistical mediation between characters, resulting in a stupid unbalanced tier list and horribly choppy looking sprites. If you're going to fight something with something, DO IT IN THEIR OWN SERIES (None of this MBAC Ciel v Arc idiocy...)
