When I browsed over the events and saw some TCG tournaments, I couldn't help but wonder if there is going to be any Magic The Gathering players there, casual or tournament.
There are always casual Magic players. Usually there's at least one booster draft, too. Since Shadowmoor will be the newest set at the time, I assume that a booster draft would be 3 packs of Shadowmoor (probable price $12-15). Don't know who's running it, though.
Last year's Magic "tournament" wasn't organized and was pretty much a letdown. Don't expect anything competitive (besides, all the hardcore players minus myself will be down in Hollywood for Pro Tour - Hollywood side-events if not the main) at all. On a side note, I'm ready to sell off 90% of my Magic collection (the other 10% consists of my Cube and a few Standard-legal decks). If you want anything that's Standard-legal or as far back as Revised, feel free to ask. I have less rares from the past and a ton of Time Spiral stuff.
I'll play t1 with anyone, I gotta find my decks again.
man... I don't really understand magic. I heard it's a lot of money to play the game though... basically getting the right decks set up and everything else.
anyone want to buy my cards? :D
if you want to sell your cards you should take them to the swap meet at the con.
i'll consider that. :)
Hmm i haven't played magic in a few years. Granted when I was into magic, Ice Age was the new thing. Might consider bringing my cards if folks don't mind playing with a rusty, and way out of date player. I don't even know what half the new little card actions do.
LOL DAMN Ice Age. You are way too OG for me.
Don't fix what's not broken. *laughs* Really I just lost interest in the game for a while from a lack of people to game with, but Magic online got me interested in the game not while ago, and dug the old cards out.
I stopped collecting right after Legends of Kamigawa came out.

Haha, snow covered land gimmick was pretty awful. And other things they introduced which I can't remember for the life of me was so unnecessary.
So are most of the activation/action things cards can do now/ *Snickers* Last time I looked through a box of random cards at the local game store, I didn't know what half the things did, though flashback is sorta useful.

I know for a fact that there will be quite a bit of ppl that will play either type of magic (Me being 1 of the ppl that would bring his decks <I have 5 to choose from>)

Some can cost quite a bit, but some are as cheap as, like say 4 example, $20 for an ok deck 2 play w/others & there are some magic players that are willing to help you build the type of deck you would want to play with.
Indeed. Last year me and my friends got into a couple games with just random people, it was awesome.
I'll play for food at Fanime.
As long as I can use my banned reanimator.
Remind me to bring my deck(s). They are quite old and a mixed bunch. I probably won't be caught up w/ the most recent set, but its all in good fun.
*goes to ravage friend's Magic stash*

Too lazy to rebuild old decks otherwise, I'd totally take you up on that offer. :P
I'll play someone in tekken for food. o.0
I'm down for some Magic - Rock Paper Scissors.
Rules are simple. You can use Rock, Paper, or Scissors against me.
I can also only use Rock, Paper, or Scissors.
However, I get to choose one item that is magical for each round. I get to choose this item AFTER we go. So, if you go Paper and I go Rock...then I can say that my Rock is magical and casts Fire on your Paper. In that scenario I would win.
We would be playing this game for money, anime, food, or your girlfriend. I'll let you choose.

Will you play Bronson?
Only for Jollibee chickenjoy, with no pho substitute if he wins.
Also, only in Tekken 6 BR. Not Tekken 5 DR nor Tekken Tag.
I don't know about playing for food. But if you see a Komamura playing at a table, he'll take people on(even if he'll lose).
Wanted: To be paid in food of my choice to throw a game of Magic to boost my self-confidence in the game...Any takers? *Snickers*
I'll mulligan down to 1 and say okay.
I think that's enough to hand you the win. ;)
If you guys are interested, I have a lot of extra beginner decks (not too easy, not too hard) that I'll be selling off at the Swap Meet this year for cheap, as well as some grab bag Magic cards :) Contact me via PM if you're interested in getting a custom cheap Magic deck built for you!
Hi guys and gals!
This is the Second of Tabletop Gaming. We're working on getting something set up. I'll keep you guys informed.
WOOOOOOOOO!!!! MAGIC TOURNEY!!!! >.> <.<...
I just got back into playing again, I found my trusty Black Regenerate Deck. Quite a few Skeletons in it.
So is it just going to be a bunch of pickup games, or is there going to be an actual tournament? And what format of deck construction, if any, would we be using?
Dorian Gray
Well the staff hasn't said anything yet. Last year it was a whole bunch of pick up games just around the area. Just sit down with a magic deck, and eventually someone will come. My friends and I only played a couple games without having someone come in.
I dunno if I'll bring my deck this year. I haven't played for months. The last draft I did was one of Lorwyn, and I don't know how far behind I am... XD
I kinda dropped playing magic because one of the guys (relatively small network; small town) plays intensely to win; as in scouraging the internet for the best stratigies, learning to legaly abuse every card he can, memorize cards before they come out, anything to manipulate numbers to his chance. Soon most everyone was trying to keep up with him, and as a casual player, I just kinda fell out >>;
...Besides, weird pattern as it is, the more cards I collect the worse I do XD My strength is luck and improvision XDDD
So, what styles you guys play? I'm asking this as a friendly/curious question, not a 'I-need-every-advantage-I-can-get', lol. I usually stay confined to Green or Black (snakes or discarding FTW) or on occasion, insane multicolor decks (elementals). Like I said, luck XD

A lot of players play to win, and I'm one of them =P I've been attending PTQs for years now and have cashed in the money at certain events. I don't blame the guy for trying to gain a legitimate upper hand, but I hope he wasn't spending all that effort in a casual environment.
Okay. If you're looking to trade me Magic throughout con or find me at the swap meet to deal some Magic, you can find my friend and I selling Magic at the swap meet tonight and tomorrow night. I'll be wearing a blue buttonup shirt with ripped jeans tonight at the swap meet. We'll have cardboard boxes to use as small stands for our product (and also to carry them) and probably will tape some Magic-related signs to them.
If you have Twitter, my username is @rkho
That is all. Let's play a lot of Magic and have fun this weekend! I would love to trade with all of you.
Yeah there will be plenty of magic gamers.
I know personally I probably won't play unless my buddies drag me over there or if I get extremely bored.
But two of my friends I'm rooming with will most likely be in there most of the time playing because they have low social skills....
But they're really good.
agh! i wanna play magic!! i got hella cards
ill also wanna sell some magic!!
i hope i can escape my friends and play!
I learned to play Magic today after I finished DMing a TRPG game. It was pretty interesting. The deck were pretty old, but I had a lot of fun with playing a slower-paced card game.
I'm definetly gunna bring my deck nex time!!!
