Title: Red Rover Game/Gathering for all cosplayers
Post by: felicity869 on April 29, 2008, 02:50:43 PM
Ok, so as of right now this is just a suggestion and please shoot it down if you think it's dumb/too dangerous. Would anyone be interested in meeting outside by the fountains for a giant game of Red Rover? All cosplayers (and probably noncosplayers as well) would be welcome to join in. Obviously we wouldn't all know each others names but we could refer to each other by character name or clothing description.

You never played Red Rover as a kid and have no clue what I'm talking about:
Players on a team hold hands, forming a line. The leader of a team will call a player from the opposing team. That player must try and break through two players' hands (a link) to stay on their own team. If the player is not able to break through the link, that team will gain control of that player. Before a player would try to break the link, the link would normally say "Red Rover, Red Rover, we call (player's name) over!" Typically, the weaker players are chosen first to increase the chance of taking them.
When only one player is left on a team, they must try and break through a link. If they do not succeed, the opposing team wins. Otherwise, they are able to get a player back for their team.

I think it's a good idea.  Worth considering for a late night game.

I agree this could be a lot of fun, but definately at night.  Too many people during the day.

Yeah! Definitely a late night game! If we could settle on a day and time that would be awesome! I vote for Thursday night for the people either waiting in line for badges or the people who got their badges and are looking for something to do!

Saturday night is obviously a no go because of the cosplay masquerade. Thursday I won't actually be there. So which would be better friday or sunday?

Thinking back to 2007, if Red Rover is played in the empty space in the Gaming Room on Friday, you should rethink the location because the Swap Meet is on Friday ^__^  Everyone can still play.  Just need to find a different location.

I think Sunday is worth considering because, for me, everyone I know are not attending the concert.

Yeah, I'm not going to the masquerade or the concert so the only thing I'm concerned with is dances, and I think Sunday night might be for the best....and we will play this outside on grass right....? I really don't want to get hurt...or my costumes hurt....

I totally forgot about the concert because I have zero interest in it but I'm sure there are a lot of people that will be going...

How late at night are we wanting to do this? Late enought that it's not crowded but still early enough that there is decent light?

For sure on the grass. We wouldn't want any costumes or people hurt ;)
