Title: To Everyone Worried about the ID situation...
Post by: FanFicGuru on May 14, 2008, 08:10:28 PM
I've brought this up in a couple other threads, but I don't think anyone's really caught on...so for the last time let me repeat what it says on the registration page regarding State-issued Identification requirements:

Please note that it is not impossible to pickup your badge without a government ID, but the process is time consuming and will impact other members' wait in line.

Translation? If you don't have a government ID at the time of badge pickup for Fanime...DO NOT WORRY! They will take whatever form of Photo ID you have + your postcard. Chances are they'll just need to confirm stuff like your address/phone number to give you your badge.

Of course, government ID is preferred, but honestly they can't expect to enforce the requirement on a group of con attendees who, for the most part, don't need a state ID for a good 3-5 years yet.

So, yeah. Stop worrying and just bring whatever you can + your postcard.

I registered a friend for fanime and ended up losing his information. Which means he can't log in to get his registration postcard. All he has is a school id. I was wondering if this is ok and if not what we can do. I don't even know what email I used to register him. I've tried everything to figure it out.

I've done a couple login retrievals so far. First off, find out who paid for it and with what. If you paid them with a credit card online, you should have received a "receipt" from Paypal. This receipt has your badge/account number on it. Then, email registration and say "Look, I lost my login information for account # XXXX, can you tell me which email I registered it to, and re-send a confirmation for me please?"

That should work. Registration (Eric in particular) has been very patient with me as I tried to retrieve a couple of my sisters' information.

Hope that helps.
