What I'm planning to do is take pictures with a lot of cosplayers but I'm afraid I might ask it rude. is it okay to just ask?
just say can i take your picture they will be flattered
It's better to ask politely than to just go ahead and do it. The worst that'll happen is they'll refuse.

and as for the WAY you ask someone, just be like
"hey, you, *or insert character name here* would it be cool if i took a picture with you?"
something like that
Yea. Just ask them. But always ask. never just go right on ahead and take a picture. The only time that is alright is when like it's durign one of those cosplay meets. Let's say fro example a Kingdom hearts cosplay meet and everyone is grouping up for a picture. it's alright to standing with the rest fo the people takeing photos and grab a shot. But really if you don't feel comfortable even doign that, just ask. No one is going to get mad at you for asking unless something really horrible happened to them that day. I've personally had an experience with a few unhappy cosplayers. But I've been reasured that what I experiesed was extremely rare. So really. No worries. Just ask and have fun with the rest of us! ^_^
Oh and by the way I'll be a moogle walking around, totally come find me and we can go picture hunting together or somthing! ^_^
I'll be hanging out with some people who've brought their japanese dolls with them. And I'm almost curtain their dolls will probably draw a larger crowd then me, sadly enough XD
Also, if you're nervous about asking outright, a gesture with a camera and a smile will generally make your intentions clear. If they smile and strike a pose, you're good to go. If they shake their heads or turn away, move along.
