Title: Boll's Postal gets denied US distribution
Post by: Stormfalcon on May 17, 2008, 10:55:24 PM
Story here (http://www.cinemablend.com/new.php?id=8853)

Most excellent.  Boll gets a black eye with this one.  In short, the 1500-screen opening he was expecting got cut down to just a few when distributors get a boost in intelligence and realize that the obnoxious no-talent hack is bound to cost them money and shuts him down accordingly.

Yet another Uwe Boll "film" loosely based on a game (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0486640/).

I was hoping to see this movie actually, just for the heck of it.

This movie was supposed be like Boll's ruthless, no-hold's-barred comedy film with stuff like terrorists, nazi's, racism and whatever else Boll can do to "offend." Its based off the game Postal 2 and it's supposed to be the most offensive film Boll has ever made. The game was pretty bad too in the sense that it too was pretty trashy in taste (for example you can push a button to make your guy urinate) Sure it'll probably be a huge piece of cinema crap but its one I can't help but be intriqued by.

Also there a part of the movie where Dave Foley from The Kids in the Hall is naked and you can see his ding-dong. (just throwin' that out there, heh heh)

I really thought the topic was about a Ball that wouldn't get shipped in the Post. I totally can't read.

He is this generation's Ed Wood. I'm glad that his sucky video games movies have bombed and that finally woke up the studios not to distribute his crap. Of course, in 30 years, they will be cult classics and if a new version of MST3k comes out, they will get made fun off to hell and back.

This makes me sad. I love Uwe Boll, he's such a trainwreck. The movies are godawful, but I love watching them for hilarity reasons. Particularly when I'm drunk. Also, he gave Tony Bourdain a cameo in his "adaptation" of FarCry, so I love him more now.

Let's not insult Ed Wood with this comparison.  As bad as Ed Wood was, at least he loved moviemaking.  The same cannot be said for Boll, especially since the motivation for his career up until now was that his failures counted as tax shelters under German law.

wikipedia says:
"Boll is able to acquire funding thanks to German tax laws that reward investments in film. The law allows investors in German-owned films to write off 100% of their investment as a tax deduction; it also allows them to invest borrowed money and write off any fees associated with the loan. The investor is then only required to pay taxes on the profits made by the movie; if the movie loses money, the investor gets a tax writeoff.

While Boll has received a lot of negative publicity regarding this funding method,[7] he was actually one of the few directors to use the tax shelter as intended. His films were financed, produced, and directed by a German company, which was the initial intention behind the tax shelter: to provide incentive for investment in German entertainment properties."

It looks like German tax payers are being taken for a ride.   ;D

Signed it and told him to stay away from Hellsing, because I heard there might be a live action movie! But god it'll be horrible if he becomes the director and if that happens then there'll be bloodshed!

And let's not forgot that at least Ed Wood wasn't a total douchebag to people. Boll beat the hell out of critics who accepted his boxing challenge, but declined to be part of a sparring match on g4 once he found out Seanbaby(a guy could actually kick his ass) would be there.

I saw that on G4, I was disappointed that Bill wasn't there, I would love to see him get his ass beat! So you mean that we actually could've seen a fight on G4?

Hellsing is not a game, so he probably doesn't know about it; even so, i don't think he would ever get the rights to it.
