Title: Weirdist Con Experience
Post by: o0Mutsu0o on May 27, 2008, 01:26:36 PM
I have to say.. I had some odd things happen.. But the stupid-...ist

was talking to some really cool guy for about an hour, about some dance. This person is cool, having a good convo, then Finding out he's someone you knew via forum, and things just didnt work so you stopped talking it was lovely to meet this person, but when i found out who he was i was like " ERRR" and was tempted to just shake my head and walk away......

On a brighter note, none of my friends ended up making out with random yaoi dudes on Youtube. ;] and what happened to you? ;D

well, having been one of the ConOps base and desk workers, I've come across hundreds of extremely weird moments.

But I have to say, the weirdest moment involved seeing someone take off their pants for absolutely no reason while I was standing in front of them....the ass was not pointed at me, but the person to the left of me...I just happened to be there at the time.

I'm sure there were wierder though...need to think a bit

OMG
Me and my two friends were watching a movie on Crunchyroll next to the WiFi thing in the convention center on my laptop and this guy sits across from me on the floor and asks us what we're watching. We say "Crazy Stone" and then he's like, "Oh, what website are you watching it on?" We say crunchyroll and he says "Oh really?" It turns out that he works for Crunchyroll and was Industry.

It was hecka weird but cool at the same time. xD

Meeting someone who stalked me down after last fanime on the internet was interesting. That was probably the weirdest for me. Also, seeing so many people who were alternate versions of people I knew.

I was dressed as Dante. I saw a group of girls dressed as lolita and I took the op to have a big group hug with them. (I was running around giving EVERYONE hugs!) There was this tiny little girl in the group who ended up being stuck in the middle of the hug. The weird part was, she lifted up my coat to take a quick peek inside.

It wasn't the fact she lifted my coat than it was that this little girl who looked innocent turned out to .. Well, not be. LOL! D:

Not the weirdest, but me and my friends were walking around, one of them playing the guitar, when we get stopped and asked for a picture.
It wasn't so weird as it was like.. "Oh, okayz"
But thats it, aside from the elevator experience, that I already posted in another thread ^^"

And seeing one of my ex's.
That was weird, but turned out ok after abit!

Like hearing candy mountain on the loudspeakers on Monday afternoon?

I can't quite relate the weirdest moment, but it involves friends and a large exhibit hall.

I think the jankenpon at dinner was one of the weirdest but also one of the most amusing.

Working the line @ An Cafe...trying to keep folks calm (and entertained.. oh and not have a fan girl riot start) I got asked to come take care of an issue back and con and when I said I had to go, I got a fan girl "Awwwwwwww" from like 30 of them.

Coming back from the issue and redressed *grumble* watching Zog get another set of fan girls worked into a frenzy. (cheering for EVERYONE that walked by o.O) Any ways, I stand behind him arms folded and when he turned around (jumped 10 feet for getting the crap scared out of him :D ) and I ask "What are you doing?" He.. in true Zog fashion puts his arm around my shoulder and says to the fan girls

"Guys, this is my boss... Cheer from him!"

o.O

... ..

O.o

2.5 min worth of fan girl screams directed towards me later all I could say was...

*blink*

Carry on...

So, there was this cute couple of guys in the elevator on my way up to the 15th floor of the hilton.  We talked, they seemed cool, everything was awesome.  Then we get off the elevator and head in the same direction, my friend starts "NO WAY! Don't tell me..." and we stop right across the hall from eachother.  "Is it only you two in that room?" one of the guys says with a grin.
Me: "Uhhh, yeah..." *Thinks of subject change* "So, uh are you guys going to the rave tonight?"
The same guy as before (the other one was cuter and less talkative): "Yeah, I'll see you guys there...and maybe I'll come by later tonight?"
Me: "HAHAHA...haha..aha..(and then I smiled, which was probably a bad thing) WELL see you guys later!"
Him: "I'm the luckiest guy in the world" and then we parted ways

*After much dancing and partying, we return to our hotel room*
*There is a knock at the door*

Me: OH SH*
My friend: *in a whisper* "OMG, its the guy..."
*we both stay silent for like, five minutes*
*My friend goes to the door and looks through the peep hole*
My friend: "PHEW he's gone...that was weird"

The next morning he looked totally hung over and gave me and my friend the dirtiest look ever.

LOL

yeah... the who line situation was insane... Everyone around us was screaming and cheering at random cars passing by. People, that were around my friend and I, joked that it seemed like we weren't going to an An Cafe concert anymore. We all were wondering what kind of concert we were going to if it followed along the lines of our wackiness.

Sitting in line for so long with tons of people incited mass insanity. We were all so bored. My friend and I started singing random songs; some made up. Singing the Sakura Taisen song was fun. >.<

I thought the random singing of the beer on the wall song before the concert was kinda amusing.
I'm half glad that the band probably didn't realize how strange we were being.

But the funniest moment was when I ran into a friend while we were in line. Because we were broken into a segment from the rest of the line; she wondered if we were the line to the concession stand. The stand just happened to be on the corner behind us.

We got tempted to tell the people that we were the concession stand line. XP

For some reason that made me laugh. A lot. =D

Actually, I think the weirdest thing to happen was before actually getting to the con. And this was my first one.

So my friend and I, dressed as Kamijo and Hizaki, decided to stop at the Cafe at the Tech Museum to pick up some not-terrible-overpriced food. And while we were waiting in line, this dad approached my Hizaki friend and asked her to talk to his little daughter, since the little girl was just fangirling over her dress. Heh, I guess princess dresses + little girls = explosion~? It was really cute though, since my friend went over and just said hi to her, and the little girl was just like =D~~~ !!!

Of course, instead of a cutesy little girl fawning over me, I got a little boy that just came up to our table after we'd sat down, stared wide eyed at me for about two minutes, and then whispered something about 'eeeviiil' and wandered off. .___. Great self esteem booster, yeah~

I think my weirdest moment was when i was standing in line to buy food and the group in front of me was goofing off. one of the guys in the group suddenly turned to me, got down on one knee, and asked "Will you be my kitty?"

He was even holding a plastic ring... I dunno I laughed and said i was with someone  already... Luckily i've never had to deal with stalkers whoot!

Lol funny thing is mine happened near the hentai room too. First on saturday night I think me and some friends are looking for the Rave. All of them went to fanime last year so we went to the left side and down the hall, then this girl I think she was working but she turns to me and my three friends and asks "Girl on Girl or normal?" :o We all just looked at each other and asked very quietly "Is the rave here?" So we got directions to the dance and stayed for 10 minutes then left lol The other one was Watching the AMVs late sunday night and hearing cheering from the left side which was the hentai room. Needless to say it was one hell of a hentai.

I think the same people did that to my friend, only he proposed to him, it was in the elevator, and instead of a ring, he presented an empty pizza box.

That doesn't seem weird to me at all.  That's standard buttering-up small talk.  She was probably looking for a bigger tip.

Okay I remember one, It was during the Black and White Ball and Daryll of of the Emcees from the Masquerade noticed I wasn't really dancing with anyone and grapped me and a few other guys and led us to the row of girls sitting without partners and tolds us to have at it. It was quite awkward let me tell you, but soon after I danced with a girl named Stephanie (My god I hope that was her name I am the worst when it comes to names but I think she knows that...I hope) He saw with when we where dancing and gave me a thumbs up But it was weird to begin with Daryll is VERY nice by the way.

I was watching Alira in a video room and we heard a guy screaming across the hall, I went to the other room to check what the deal was. Apparently it was karaoke and he was singing What's up People from Death Note, lol he was hella loud!

I was at the Hilton Hotels and my friends went to the weight room there and we were on the run mill and I started to run backwards, while watching TV on the mill.

I accidentally went to a booth that mostly sold hentai videos, so I ask if they got any Hellsing and so one of the clerks checks a box full of hentai and tells me no. So I walk past the box take a quick peek and see the hentai in there I was thinking "Opps"

I enter a hotel room bathroom only to find a bunch of liquor, water bottles, and energy drinks.

I saw a guy that strangely resembled Peter Griffin

Although its not weird but someone asked me for a spare map, luckily I had a printed copy!

I uh...heh...kissed another guy at Fanime.  I'm not generally one to consider myself homosexual in any way but my friend dressed as Vash and I (i cosplay every year as Wolfwood) got asked by these two real cute little girls if they could take a picture of us kissing.  We looked at each other for a moment and kinda did one of those ".....meh" moments.  Couple seconds later, a real akward kiss and a camera flash and the two girls gave us each a hug and pranced off.  Bout two hours later we're sitting in McDonalds down the street with Vash's girlfriend, Dark Vash and HIS girlfriend and he looks up at me and says...

"dude...we just kissed"

"..."

"you're a pretty good kisser"

AAANd right back into the french fries like nothing happened...

My first run in with a fan girl.

I was dressed as Ancient Shuten from Samurai troopers. I walking  down the hall with my best friend when suddenly...

" Shuteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen!"  I turned and there was this  fangirl, no more than 13 running towards me at full speed.

I froze like a deer in the headlights and then, wham!

she hit me like a freakin truck.
Still, all I could do was stare blankly. My staff was 3in in diameter of solid oak and I didn't even think to use it.
She latched onto me petting my hair and saying things like.
" Omg! Shuten your so pretty and your hair is so soft and shiny.

Eventually I was able speak..just barley " Daaanaa.. " W..what is this.. I'm scared' ."

just when she turned around the little imp giggled and ran off.
I got up and went to put on my hat back on, but it was gone. the little beast had taken it

I was  truly impressed that a girl her age not only knew the character, but his real name as well.

But it was still a horrifying experience.

THAT WAS IT! Yeah you were Haku but in a Black with Red? dress. Oh man I'm sorry I am the worst when it comes to names. people most of the time remember my name and when they say Hey Joss, I blank. And let me guess for the Ron thing it was Ron from Harry Potter and I right I get that a lot.

I was dressed in a pink and black gothic lolita outfit, and I'm in the bathroom. A lady comes up to me and says, "Oh! You're such a cute lad! Cute lad! Such a cute lad!" As she's leaving "Cute lad! So so cute!"
... awkward, you can say.  ???

 That's easy.

AX ..06' ( I think)

We were not the weirdest group in town.

As I walking around the of the hotel, I noticde some old men in Black leather kilts. Not too bizarre, must be Scotts.
Then a man in a dress. Okaaay a little strange, but it is an anime convention.

Then I went across the street to..some other hotel.

I passed two men, in their sixties at least, in black leather bondage gear holding hands.
Then a little further down the hall was this old man in a very..colorful and over the top 1600's ballroom dress and and feathered mask. he was going on and on in a VERY foppish manner about how difficult it is to be the prettiest Queen. (he was actually very entertaining in a non creepy way)

We later found out it was a 50+ gay man square dancing convention...across the street from us, which was across the street from some Catholic conference.

I'll admit that the last couple Fanime's have been pretty tame, wierd-stuff wise.  So I have to go back a bit for this one.

Fanime 2001- Kunihiko Ikuhara was a guest of honor that year.  He had directed several Sailor Moon episodes as well as the R movie and was the director for "Shoujo Kakumei Utena," which I was big into at the time.  So I was excited to see him.  However, not excited enough to wait in the big @$$ line for panel or autograph sessions.  So, how excited was I when I ended up in the elevator with him...three different times!  I also ran into him on several occassions in the halls.  It was wierd.  By the third day of the Con, when we ran into each other for the umpteenth time, he was looking at me funny.  He probably thought I was stalking him.  It was pretty odd.  I would just smile and wave.

Okay, I lied, I just thought of another one.

Also Fanime 2001- There was a Christian Woman's Home Schooling Conference at the same convention center that year and they were in the hall right next door.  Their kids liked the costumes and were looking around like they'd landed at Disneyland.  So my friends and I (who were all cosplaying) are sitting on the floor of the second mezzanine and this lady rides to the top of the elevator with her two young children, looks at all of us for a minute and goes back down.  This happened two more times before I got kind of annoyed.  I felt like the main freakin' attraction at the Chaffee Zoo.  So when the fourth chick did it, I yelled as loud as I could, "We went to public school!  Don't let your kids turn out like us!"  Yeah, those ladies kind of avoided us all after that.

Walking to the Con on the last day.  I saw my friend, but he was with a girl.  Billy and I talked for a bit then walked some.  His friend started slapping my butt with her hand-held whip (think S&M).  After a few whips, I turned around and threatened to destroy her beloved whip by throwing it into the incoming traffic.

She ignored me the rest of the day.

Well the weirdest con experience for me was seeing two friends I haven't seen or talked to in eight years or so. O_o I was just walking and some said, "Alex?" And I looked back to see this kid I went to elementary school with. It was definitely a weird "small world" moment.

Oh and another weird/fun one. I was recruited into a skit an hour before the the sound/voice deadline. XD I ended up providing the voice for Riku and was Zexion in skit #18 which was a Kingdom Hearts spoof (obviously). :P

This one just made my whole con experience worth it last year:

My friend (female) was cosplaying as Sanji from One Piece.  We were wandering the Artists alley and a group at a booth was joking around.  Suddenly another Sanji (male) in their group turned to my friend with a pizza box from "Sanji's pizzaria" (or something along those lines) and proposed "I never thought I would meet a girl as beautiful as me!"

It was just realy cool!

Oh, and while we were andering the halls, some random cosplayer offered us some reeses puffs cereal.  We were starving so we each took like one piece... (realized later we just took food from a sranger and thanked heaven we hadn't been poisoned.)  (It was also because we awere at teh con and it just feels like your friends with everybody, because you know they want to be there or they wouldn't have shelled out the cash to go to something as strange to normal people as an anime con...  It makes me smile everytime I think of Fanime. :) )
